Restaurant Martin is the embodiment of a of a 20-year dream to create the perfect balance of refined and comfortable. Chef Martin Rios, and his wife, Jennifer, envisioned a certain ambiance where people from the community as well as Santa Fe’s many visitors could enjoy Chef Rios’ award-winning progressive American cuisine. This family-owned restaurant caters not only to tourists, but to a large and loyal local clientele. Chef Rios has been repeatedly honored for his innovative and pleasing combinations of flavors, colors and presentation. His unique style emphasizes fresh, local produce and organic meats and poultry, and reflects not only Southwestern and Asian influences but also his classic training in French technique. His list of accolades include the following: Finalist in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022 for the James Beard “Best Chef of the Southwest” Award Semi-finalist for the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 James Beard “Best Chef of the Southwest” Award.

    We dined at Restaurant Martin (RM) this week during our annual trip to Santa Fe, NM. Our first dinner this trip, and what a treat. All the staff are amazing… friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. Seleste was our waitress, and she did a GREAT job! Thank you Seleste! The restaurant is cool and cozy, with dining areas and tables spaced so each table has a bit of privacy. They place a little business card on your table with the server’s name and a little bio… very nice. The food and drinks were exquisite! We started with a couple of cocktails, Lavender Haze and Tequila Twilight… both were delicious! The bread served is $3/person, but well worth it. Awesome thyme butter on the side, and there is a hot rock in the bread bowl to keep the bread warm! For the appetizer, we shared the asparagus and prosciutto salad… sublimely good! Our entrees were the chef seafood special, barramundi, and the prime beef tenderloin. Per our usual practice, we each ate 1/2 of our entree and we swapped plates. The fish was expertly prepared and the steak perfectly grilled. Both dishes were on point! We shared the soft chocolate-espresso pave for dessert, heaven on a plate! A bottle of Veuve Clicquot rounded out the dinner, dunked in an ice bath, and was as good as ever. The restaurant’s wine list is extensive, something for everyone, both Old World and New. Highly recommend Restaurant Martin, 5 Stars across the board!

    Excellent, as always. Has been my favorite for seven years, and I went twice each year til commemorate special occasions. Last night was the firs I was with a special friend. It was a delightful evening in all ways.

    Outstanding meal, excellent service. This is one of, if not the best, restaurants in Santa Fe. If you go there and barramundi (Asian sea bass) is on the menu, or is, as it was when we were there, the evening’s chef’s special, do yourself a favor and order it.

    We didn’t know what to expect. Had read reviews but had to see for ourselves. Outstanding in all respects. Rack of lamb superb as was the Chilean Sea Bass. Staff alert, attentive and professional while providing a personal touch. Highly recommended. Wish it was in our neighborhood! Kudos!

    The food and cocktails are creatively made. Delicious. Service perfect. Great wine list. Bread a great start. I so wanted dessert but couldn’t eat another bite. Octopus appetizer spectacular. Entrees, mine was the salmon, wonderful. And the spinach with the spicy almonds is genius. The tempura mushrooms excellent and you won’t find them elsewhere with just the right amount of crunch and a delicious sauce. Not only is the food delicious but it’s also beautiful on the plate.

    Was so excited to try this, food was just ok. So many options in Sante Fe it’s hard to describe why it was just ok. Patio is gorgeous, wine list is pretty good but it just missed the mark for me in this crowded foodie paradise. 3 of us all had meals, appetizers and shared the great bottle of wine. I’m glad we tried it-but it’s not stellar like so many other places in town for a huge price tag. Chef must not be cooking regularly because the hype was more than his famous cookbook and reviews.
