first visit, will definitely as to Niagara on the Lake must dine! Dining room very well designed, staff efficient and pleasant, food excellent! Had mussels appetize and duck for main course, superb!
Absolutely delicious. Scallops and shrimp perfection as was lobster pasta. Service was excellent. Attentive and not intrusive. Highly recommend!
Just an absolutely perfect dining experience! From our wonderful, knowledgeable server, Alexa, to the exquisitely prepared food - we highly recommend this excellent venue.
I would definitely return to this restaurant. The food, service and ambiance was lovely. The only thing that I would recommend would be to enlarge the menu a little but I understand that could be impossible because of limited kitchen staff as a result of Covid.
The evening was a delightful experience!
The room was small for what you pay. The room above us was noisy. The breakfast was late coming and the food was cold and undercooked. However, they did not charge us for the meal. The dinner however was very good and the service was fine.
Crab cakes were good but portion is small. Mussels are amazing and so is the lobster pasta, order without fennel. Cesar salad is also great but small portion.
Relative to other fine dining experiences in the vicinity, the food is excellent value without any sacrifice in preparation quality & presentation.
As always dinner at the Oban is one of our favourite spots in NOTL. Thank you!
We were dining with friends who share our anniversary date with us. We had a delightful evening and we also had Jimmy , who is mentioned in many reviews take care of us. He put up amazingly well with all of the questions we asked about the menu! A delightful dinner for all of us!
Had an amazing anniversary dinner here. Great ambiance and wonderful attentive service. We had the mussels as an appetizer.. SO delicious. We both agreed they're some of the we've ever had. Our mains were the duck confit and lobster pasta dish. Both outstanding and incredibly delicious. We will definitely be back!!!
Food was excellent.
It was a limited menu but varied nonetheless. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The food was also quite interestingly prepared so overall the experience was excellent. The breakfast was also very good.
Birthday & Anniversary. The entire meal was fantastic. So happy to see this establishment feature great Canadian wine. Unbelievable portions, lobster spaghetti and duck confit best choices for us. Definitely will be back after a 26 year absence.
The dinner was excellent! We had the rib-eye steak which was cooked to perfection as well as the accompanying asparagus and potatoes. Desert was just a taste of sweet. A lovely way to end the dinner. Service was terrific. Friendly and attentive. Overall a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely return.
We came here for a girls night and the food was fantastic. We had a table in the middle if the room so it was a bit noisy when we got there, but the music drowned out the conversations. I got the lobster spaghetti, which was heavenly, and my friend got the ribeye that she said was cooked perfectly. It was quieter at 9 when many left the restaurant. We would return
First time there, would definitely return and reccomend to friends.
Amazing food, and service! Highly recommend the mussels as a starter and chicken risotto or shrimp/scallops dish for a main. 10/10!!!
We came back even though we live 100s of kilometers away because we just had to try some of the other main dishes. The food was exquisite, especial attention to the sauces, underlying vegetables and the garnishes, and obviously the meat was perfect. Our server was friendly and attentive enough to serve us well but not be in the way. It was a really great meal. If you like seafood the scallops and tiger shrimp was superb.
Wonderful food, nicely presented, super atmosphere, excellent service. We really enjoyed our evening and will certainly go back.
US visitors FINALLY getting back to Canada and to one of our NOTL favorites. Everything was perfect. Safety protocols were in place. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. So happy to be back!
Excellent food and service as always. Always a treat for us when we visit Niagara on the Lake.
The most gorgeous duck confit I’ve ever tasted. My husband said the shrimp and scallops were done to perfection. Good service. A beautiful space with a view of the garden. Acoustics were the only drawback—struggled to hear each other but voices from surrounding tables were very loud. But the food made it very worthwhile. Will definitely return.
Food was very good excellent crab cakes. Very good service.
Great food and service from top staff
The atmosphere was lovely and the service was quite good, but the food was all SO salty! I had the risotto and my dining companions had the chicken and steak and we ALL felt that the food was very salty to the point that we didn’t particularly enjoy it.
Scallops were amazing
Lobster pasta was very tasty but a little runny
We were celebrating our 46 Wedding Anniversary and were recommended to this restaurant. What an unbelievable disappointment. It was a Monday night and no crowds waiting to get in. Felt that we were rushed thru the whole evening. Only six items to choose from on the menu. The ribeye steak was unbelievably salty. My husband wanted to send it back but no one came back to the table. When someone finally came back they just asked if we wanted anything else, took the half eaten meals away and brought back the $179.00 bill. Not even a complimentary dessert to share on our celebration. I feel that this restaurant has gotten so use to people coming there because it is one of “the places” to go to in NOTL that they have forgotten that customer service is still a priority. Would never recommend this restaurant.
We had a fabulous meal at the Oban on Sept 18/21. My mom and I had the duck and it was cooked to perfection and the sweet potato hash was delicious! My sister had the ribeye and she though it was cooked perfectly as well. We ordered the cheesecake which was a bit dry and the creme caramel was amazing! If you have room after your dinner order the creme caramel. Best I have ever had! Our server was friendly and very funny. Location is great, we walked from our airb&b. The inside of the restaurant is nice and it was fairly quiet for the first half of our dinner. Once more people arrived the noise level went up but it wasn’t distracting.
Price of the meal was reasonable. We were stuffed from our meals and dessert. For being NOTL it can be hard to come by great food for a reasonable price. I will definitely be back!!
Great service. Jimmy was very kind. My daughter was very happy with her ice cream!
Wonderful food, staff and area!
I wish they had more lighting outside so we could see the garden from the veranda but really, if that’s the only thing to say… Great experience!
Jimmy was a wonderful server and very considerate. We are in the sun room with a view of the beautiful flowers. Beautiful presentation of the food and cooked to everyone’s liking. My steak had some tough parts but the jus and the potatoes made up for it. Overall a great meal and environment.
Our once yearly treat while we’re enjoying the Shaw Festival at NOTL. We’ve been coming for close to 30 years. The food has been consistently good despite different chefs and the room and service very good and friendly.
This was one of the few restaurants that was available for dinner that night! What a delight! The ambiance was warm and cozy, we sat in the sunroom overlooking a beautiful garden and the food was amazing! I had the salmon… husband had the ribeye. The crab cakes were delicious too! What a little gem! The charm and history of the place is beautiful! Definitely will be going back!
Lovely atmosphere and terrific food. The service was impeccable (Alexa was our server). Highly recommend.
A small and quiet intimate dining room with a view to the lovely flower garden. Mussels and lobster spaghetti were both excellent. They have a very good assortment of Niagara region wines to accompany your meal.
The food and staff at Oban are always fabulous!
Alexa and Jimmy have been our servers over the past few weeks and are always so friendly and attentive. The food is always consistently delicious.
So glad you are open again! Thank you.
The Oban Inn is consistently excellent.
The staff are pleasant and efficient.
The menu has very good choices and the food is excellent as is the presentation.
Overall it was a nice place. Our meals were good but not WOW. The lobster spaghetti was a little too saucy but generous on the lobster meat with hints of tarragon.
I would go again.
Jimmy was amazing. Will come again
Good. Decor needs updating and a good clean. Physical menus are a bit tacky…
