The staff was accommodating and super friendly. We had a reservation and they were kind enough to call and ask if we wanted to come in earlier. However, we then felt super rushed and felt the urgency to leave immediately after paying our bill. We ordered different dishes and agreed that the food was fine but not exceptional if we compare it to other Italian restaurants in the city. I cannot speak to the wine list but we were all very happy with our drinks. Overall, it was a nice experience but we are in no rush to return.
Recommended as an authentic Italian cuisine and it lived up to our expectations actually exceeded it. Staff very knowledgeable advising both on food and wine menu. We were abit hesitant about the outdoor seating but it was the best. A European feel. Loved it.
Cozy restaurant with an open-concept kitchen which created a visual presentation of the delicious, hearty food we received. The server was knowledgeable and made a perfect wine recommendation. The risotto was absolutely delicious and the gnocchi very tasty. A wonderful Italian experience for those who enjoy a warm atmosphere and authentic dishes.
Great place to eat, super yummy fresh pasta and very friendly staff.
Truly a gem in Vancouver. I’m just blown away with how delicious their pastas are and how tiny the kitchen is. We drove up from Seattle just to eat here and will definitely make the same trip again!
Great Italian food and good service. The place is small with ample outside seating space. They have a good variety of pastas, with freshly made sauces. I felt the quantity of food was a little less than average.
Sangria wasn't the best, it was very diluted and had a lot of ice - tasted more like a lemonade with wine.
Great evening of dining on the patio. Inside seating is relatively small so probably wise to make a reservation if you want indoors. For us, the outdoor patio was great and has some covering for protection from the weather elements. We enjoyed all our food - especially the Papperdel pasta dish on the main menu. Service was both efficient and friendly. We like this neighbourhood gem and try to visit 3 - 4 times a year. Highly recommend.
Three summers ago, my wife and I went on a vacation to the Amalfi Coast in Italy. It's the only vacation we've ever been on where we didn't want to come home. Part of the reason was THE PASTA. When we dined at Robba da Matti the other night, we were transported back to Positano for an hour or so. THE PASTA!!!! Christine, the chef/owner, told us that she does not compromise. She wants her guests to have the true Italian experience and she delivers. She makes all the pasta in the restaurant on her magic pasta machine. I enjoyed the Spaghetti al la Griglio and my wife enjoyed the Spaghetti Carbonara. Each bite was a bit of heaven. I'm afraid that if I go in to too much detail, I'll have to drop everything and head over there now without completing my work. Suffice it to say, it's an amazing culinary experience at Robba da Matti and we're definitely going back.
Warm, cozy little place, tucked away in Yaletown. Italian comfort food; tried the Bruschetta Leccete, the Pappardelle and the Tiramisu. The appetizer was the highlight for creativity and balance.
Crowded seating. We were seated at a table in front of the door & it was uncomfortably cold throughout our meal. The table was also in close proximity to the dishwashing station & I had wait staff leaning over my back repeatedly. Then I had to carry a large spoon with a key attached in order to use the bathroom. The wait staff was attentive. Now, onto the food...the menu is limited but the prosciutto & fig bruschetta was a unique &tasty appetizer. The spaghetti alla carbonara was a perfectly dine classic & my husband enjoyed his seafood pasta. The wine menu is not abundant but the available wines were quite good.
Authentic home-made pasta. Even gluten-free options.
The restaurant is small but busy! Yusef and Mateo were excellent in their quality of service and ability to care for our table despite being very busy. Great food!!
The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the wine was great.
However, I am not a fan of the patio. The space is so small that waiters and customers were constantly bumping into our table and chairs. The worst, however, was that we were seated directly under the heater. It was not a cold day- maybe 55 degrees Fahrenheit- but the heater never turned off. I got so uncomfortably hot that I had to go stand outside to cool off. It’s unfortunate that this small thing overshadowed what was otherwise a lovely meal, but it really was quite bothersome. As for the space, perhaps it’s just the tables that are in the middle of the patio. If you go, I recommend you sit inside or at one of the tables on the perimeter of the patio.
My friends and I went there on a Sunday night for the Taste of Yaletown festival. All three of us had the $45 three course dinner and for us the highlight of the menu was the beef carpaccio, but that was pretty much it. All the entrees were bland, the sauces had nothing special to remember and my risotto was very mushy, too runny for my taste. The panna cotta was delicious but the chocolate mousse didn't have the silky texture it should have.
Service was OK but for the price we paid we were expecting excellent service, bold, rich flavours and overall a great experience considering the other Taste of Yaletown menus available for the same price, for example, La Pentola which was exceptionally good. With so many good options nearby I would not recommend this place nor come back again.
My food was no good. But my friend had a great order. And her food was amazing.
Best pasta in Vancouver. Great atmosphere and friendly authentic staff.
This is a gem of a restaurant. The service was friendly and staff obliging and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and came piping hot. We ended up eating far more than usual. A definite destination place for us .
Fabulous, authentic Italian gem in Yaletown. Marvellous heated patio & cozy interior. Extremely friendly & personable service. We have a marvellous time & never felt rushed - given plenty of time to savour & enjoy the scrumptiously prepared food. Top marks!
The best pasta in Town 😍,Highly recommended! 👌👌👌
Excellent and authentic home cooked Italian dishes. Very friendly and attentive servers. The pastas are cooked to perfection and the ingredients fresh and delicious. Great value. Will be going back.
First time there. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Had bruscetta and carpaccio for starters and seafood risotto and osso buco with risotto. Very tasty! Definitely going back. And.....tirimisu for dessert - yummy.
Amazing authentic restaurant!
Food was really fresh and authentic Italian. Generous amount of main ingredients. Had a risotto, slightly salty and could have put in more rice in the dish or getting an appetizer is recommended in my opinion.
BEST Italian food in Vancouver- truly authentic. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy-yet fun. The patio is charming. A perfect date spot or to catch up with a friend.
Excellent authentic Italian meal. Wonderful service as well. Best Italian I’ve had in a very long time
We were only in Vancouver 5 days this week and went twice! Was SO good!!
We picked Robba di Matti out of Yelp on our first night visiting in Vancouver. What a find!!! I had the lobster/crab ravioli, and the flavor sang in my mouth from the first bite till I hit the sack. Taste that makes you sit up, take notice, and be grateful that you have taste buds! My wife calls her osso di buca "Superb". The staff is partly Italian and enjoys the parlay with folks who make an effort to speak the language. I don't know when we'll visit Vancouver again, but we will absolutely have another dinner at Robba di Matti.
Such a great family restaurant. It never disappoints
We visited this restaurant on a Sunday night and it was very busy. It's quite small with a very small open kitchen so things are a little "cozy". The Italian food was fantastic and tasted very authentic. My wife and I both had pasta dishes and they were exceptional. The service was good, average I would say. A little slow and inattentive but very friendly and helpful when they did come around.
The negative was that it was a chilly night and we were seated right next to a door to the outside which remained open the entire time. So we were quite uncomfortable and had to wear our jackets for the entire meal. If you're looking for wine to accompany your meal the list is extremely limited but is appropriately focused on Italian wines which were adequate.
The food was authentic and very tasty, however the ambience wasn't that great. If you're looking to have some great authentic Italian food then Robba da Matti is the place.
Food was outstanding, but i was on a date and it felt the staff were rushing us every 10-15 mins to order more. We were there about 2.5 hours and still spent around $140. Not sure if they were in a rush to flip the table or what. But it was a little awkward being rushed so often in the middle of conversation.
Great service. Great food
Such a cosy and lovely environment with friendly staff and beyond delicious cuisine. I will be back!
Just a regular date night and we saw the reviews - while our server and staff were great, the food was a little undercooked (pasta had more bite than I would have liked and my partner's oxtail was chewy). There seemed to be a chaos that perhaps lent to an off-evening.
Very well prepared and authentic Italian cuisine. Good value for the quality of offerings. Friendly, attentive but not too attentive service.
Most authentic Italian food I've had. Pasta is cooked to Al dente. The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor seating and is rather cramped but gives a cozy feel. The service is good; servers are knowledgeable. I would come again.
Good food and decent portion of pasta. Smaller restaurant so reservation in advance would be a good idea. Would definitely be going back
All our food was good, but nothing outstanding or really remarkable. They have some interesting choices in the menu. The lobster and crab ravioli were either a bit undercooked or the dough was too thick. The ossobuco had a bit too strong lemon flavour. The tiramisu was a bit bland. In summary, it was not bad and I would probably go again to try the rest of the menu.
Excellent food, wonderful service, will be sure to return
