Food was excessively expensive for what you get. My fish entree was okay but nothing special and did not warrant the price. The beet salad was unbelievably small with two small pieces of beets and a three small sprigs of lettuce. Dinner and drinks for four was $340. And no one in our party thought the food was as good as many other restaurants in the area for half the price. The view was terrific, but the meal was very much a rip off.
Such a beautiful place to watch the sunset and wonderfully delicious food!
One of my favorite views on the planet. Sunsets always amazing, even with rain. The hotel will be completely renovated over the upcoming few years, so staff has been pared back. All the wait staff are excellent and the food has been very good. I imagine that when the resort is finished it will be even better.
The food was fantastic, views breathtaking and look forward to going back! Highly recommend!
Our server was awesome and the view is spectacular. The food was good but, it’s not the draw.
Great view. Great service. Limited food options.
The food was incredible and the service was great. Friendly, attentive staff and unbeatable views.
Very enjoyable meal. Service started a little slow but pacing overall was fine. Cannot beat location. Sure it is pricy but good food, resort and world class location mean good value. Loud music from wedding reception next to restaurant was a little disturbing but overall did not diminish our enjoyment.
The terrace at sunset provides spectacular views. And the overall ambience is wonderful - beautiful Bali Hai in the distance, shimmering waters, fresh ocean breezes, flowers and greenery everywhere - it’s really lovely. Our waiter very personable and we liked him a lot. But maybe they were overwhelmed? It was all a bit disorganized. For example, they did not clear dishes between courses. Then when they took the old plates away after dropping off the next course, they cleared the cutlery and we had to wait to ask for more. The food was excellent, for grown ups and kids alike. The wine list is very short, quite expensive for what you get, and has very limited selections in terms of varietal / country / style. When we came here 3 years ago, they had a luxurious list that went on for pages and decent prices. It’s a lovely restaurant so I would come back, but the feeling of being in a special occasion restaurant and feeling pampered is gone.
We came here for our honeymoon at sunset and it was amazing! The view and service was excellent!
I love this restaurant and the scenery is second to none. We had a fantastic meal with the exception of the caesar salad, much too fishy for me. The filet mignon was perfect and the lilikoi cheesecake was amazing. The maitai was as delicious as always. We will definitely visit again.
Lovely place with delicious food and wonderful service! Although pricey, it's worth it, especially for a special occasion, which it was for us. We rec'd a complimentary dessert for our anniversary! Very thoughtful.
We loved this place. We ate here 4 times - 3 times for breakfast and once for dinner. Every time was a delight. The ambiance was fantastic (it would be hard to find a better view), the food and drinks were delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. It was expensive, but we felt we got our monies worth. We would go back in a minute!
We had the most amazing table, right on the edge of the lanai overlooking the mountains and Hanalei Bay at sunset. The service was great, attentive but not invasive. The food was stellar. It was pricey, but you know that going in and it was worth every penny.
My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary of marriage in Hawaii. Looking for a romantic good restaurant for dinner and sunset views i found Makana Terrace and it was better than I expected. They did honored my request for the best spot to watch the sun set and got us some champagne as well.
Food, drinks, the atmosphere, the attention, everything was perfect and delicious!
... At the end the night my wife had a small health issue but they were really quick to help us and even gave us a lift to our condo.
We had a awesome night ! at the Makana Terrace.
Great food and wonderful staff.
Excellent food and location. 50 characters 50 characters50 characters 50 characters
Excellent food and excellent service with an amazing view! my husband and I went around sunset. We watched the sun set and the beautiful beach and mountains. It was a perfect date night. The food was excellent as well. My husband got a steak and I got scallops everything was delicious!
The best view anywhere on Kauai! The food and service were fabulous. It is pricey, but worth it. They do have kid items available so you can bring kids.
Makana Terrace was a fantasic find. The breakfast was phenomenal, probably the best breakfast we had on the island. We ate here our first morning and had to go for breakfast one last time before we left. We had also gone here for dinner one night, the options were good but if you only go here once your trip, make sure its breakfast.
The view over Hanalei Bay was breathtaking and both mornings we went it was drizzling, which when the sun broke through the clouds provided very vibrant rainbows arching the bay.
I highly recommend this spot, although it is a bit pricey. Again, the breakfast was worth it.
Marvelous and picturesque! A blissful way to spend a breakfast!
Absoultey amazing! Best view in town, excellent service and generous portions!
We always enjoy this bunch but it lacks the high quality and assortment that you would expect from a high end place like this. I was a little disappointed that the seafood was scarce with only small tidbits of Mahi Mahi over rice and cubed chunks of smoked salmon available. Both were good.
No desert? What's up with that?
Great view service was excellent food not so great for nearly $50 a person
Disappointed in the change of ownership. The brunch used to be a highlight of our vacation. The menu was just ok, brunch was not great and not worth the money. Hotel was not as luxurious as it once was 😔
Restaurant location is beautiful. Hotel is starting to look drab. Food came out slow and waiter didn’t seem to care that we had young kids that were falling asleep and we needed to speed things up. Was doing the dinner course by course even though we said bring out what’s ready when ready. Hotel seems ok overwhelmed even though it wasn’t that busy. Short handed and mismanaged. Valet was outright rude.
Haven’t been for years, did not enjoy when St. Regis owned. Had all of my expectations surpassed, yay! The scenery was stunning as always, great sunset. The food was wonderful, the mai tai was awesome, the bread/butter was a winner. The lilikoi cheescake was simply amazing, and I was thrilled that dessert was complimentary because it was my birthday! The only detail missing was “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate on my dessert plate (I have had this at Makana Terrace in the past). That would have been awesome. Overall, the experience was just wonderful and I have booked again for next week. Will happily recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.
We had a wonderful time at the Makana Terrace. The service was great - so friendly & welcoming. The food was delicious. An awesome way to end our trip to Kauai. Mahalo!
The view and ambiance is exquisitely pleasant. The food was good quality. My wife and I both ordered the steak filet. She added lobster tail and I added scallops. The waiter disappeared for quite sometime except we could see him he just wasn’t serving us. Eventually a manager came to our table. We did not complain but he obviously knew what was going on and he righted everything and comped a round of drinks. That was much appreciated. The lobster tail was quite petite and resembled a shrimp more than lobster tail. It was a lovely place however for the price the service should be top notch
Today was our honeymoon celebration. So special. It was an unexpectedly kind gesture for Makana Terrace to offer us “complimentary” champagne in honor of our honeymoon celebration. However, I felt like such an idiot for thinking that “complimentary” meant no charge. Silly me. Obviously at the Princeville Resort “complimentary means “$7 a glass”. I felt like a complete ignorant fool in front of my lovely wife for suggesting such an outrageous notion that complimentary champagne is gratis. Hopefully our waiter can forgive me as I did provide the full “complimentary” 20% tip on top of the “complimentary” champagne fees.
I can’t wait to return tomorrow night for a similar experience. Perhaps I will learn something else new such as “chorizo crusted ‘wagyu’ pork” is really just bacon bits glued to pig butt. But first I must return to the 5 other dining establishments we enjoyed this week and inform them that their practice of providing “no charge” complimentary drinks in honor of our honeymoon is passé and not up to par with the trend setting standards at le Makana Terracé
Wonderful experience! The views are the absolute best and the food is fantastic! It's a little pricey but you're really paying for the breathtaking view
We made a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes. We were a party of 2 and there were several empty tables. There were areas of the buffet that had not been replenished like the charcuterie station. The service was excellent and of course the view an ambience is picturesque.
It was our 30th Anniversary. I will say in the past this place was amazing which was why we booked it. But this time was really different. There were tiny black gnats all over my $22 glass of wine and my husband’s cocktail. We had to pick them out of our drinks. Disgusting. Split a salad to start and they just put the plate on the table. No extra plate or an extra plate for us as most nice places will do. Dinner was ok and desert not good at all. Very dry brownie. Big waste. They did not make it special at all. 5 years ago we got got a note of congrats and a glass of champagne. This time - nothing. At the restaurant or our room. The sunset was very nice but evidently during mango season you have to fight the bugs. Ate outside at other places and did not have that issue. Beautiful place and view but will not dine there again until this improves.
Stunning views across Hanalei Bay. Wonderful, attentive service. The kids in our group saw doughnuts on the buffet when we were seated and were disappointed that the kitchen rotated a new item onto the buffet in place of the doughnuts midway through our meal. Our server overheard and graciously arranged for the kitchen to make a fresh batch of doughnuts for us.
It’s too overrated...the nice tables are always reserved, where you can see the sunset, food is ok, but not the best one...the hostesses should be more nice and don’t treat solo visitors differently...
Most delicious breakfast and most amazing view!! Hostess, waitress, and staff exceeded expectations.
we had a lovely time celebrating our wedding anniversary at the Makana Terrace at sunset! The view is spectacular, and the food was high quality. Our server was rather busy but handled it professionally. We will be back!
Absolutely the most beautiful setting along with amazing service and food. Our server Jim has lots of personality & knowledge of the island. Definitely will be going back before we leave!
