Bruce Wine Bar
Don’t let the name fool you, this unique eatery boasts more than just a wine list distinguished by a Wine Spectator award.
Designated a Feast Ontario restaurant for its’ commitment to sustainable and organic regional fare, Bruce also serves up the best wood-fired Neapolitan style pizza north of the GTA. Add an impressive roster of independent Canadian musicians playing Fridays and you’ve got the vibe!
A funky eclectic design houses 25 cozy seats surrounding the open kitchen and another 40 in a loft-inspired space which includes a communal harvest table.
Once a tiny wine bar serving small plates three nights/week, Bruce has come into its’ own as a full-scale restaurant offering seasonally focused lunch, dinner and take-away menus daily, as well as catering for private parties and large events.

Bruce wine bar is my wife and I favourite place to eat and enjoying the atmosphere
Bruce Wine Bar is absolutely wonderful. My fiance and I always have either lunch or dinner here whenever we are in Thornbury. Staff is always attentive and friendly. And the meals are always prepared to perfection!
Just what we were looking for on our weekend away.
Service was excellent. Sat at the long communal table, which I’m ok with. When reserving you have the option to request up or downstairs, and I imagine you can request a small table. Excellent soup, as always, in my experience. And the Bruce version of the Caesar salad is so good. Had the braised short ribs. Not as good as last year’s recipe, sadly. Nicely cooked, generous portion, but in my opinion could have had more flavour. Side veg was kale and mushrooms - I found the kale chewy. I generally don’t enjoy kale for this reason, but my tablemate liked hers. And she found the beef tasty and rich! Dessert was OK; apple and cake, do not recall name of it. Very good wine offered by the glass; we shared a 1/2 litre. Will certainly go back, but I may not order the short ribs.
Friendly staff, tasty food with a creative flair, a relaxed setting, wood pizza oven = a great night out at Bruce Wine Bar in Thornbury!
great woodfired pizza! good wines and quick service. definitely worth a dinner date
This was our first visit to Bruce Wine Bar as had received a gift card. Pleasantly surprised and exceeded our expectations. We will be back.
Short rib dinner very dry, not the usual fall apart moist , kale was very tough to chew, would not order again
A world class local treasure. Exceptional food, entertaining wine list, perfect service. The best!
Bruce Wine Bar was a fantastic restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Our serve was attentive and informative and the food was delicious. We had just got engaged and Bruce Wine Bar was the perfect choice for a celebratory dinner. We would absolutely be back and have already recommended it to a number of our friends!
If you are in Blue Mountain take a trip to Thornbury for this hidden treasure. We love this place! I love the decor and atmosphere. Very romantic upstairs for dinner.
Our server was excellent with great knowledge of the food and wine.
Food was amazing. That is our third time there. We will be back.
After trying all the fancy pizzas (I find the pizza to be the best value on the menu), in future I will go with the ckassic Margarita.
The pizzas were wonderful, but the one and only vegan option which I had was a big disappointment. Described as a Curry but was undercooked veggies and no curry flavour at all. It was just a big salad with lentils
Really nice restaurant. The service was excellent. Despite our food taking a little longer than expected we still loved everything about this place.
Once again an absolutely fantastic experience at Brust Wine bar. Anytime we are anywhere in the neighbourhood we are always making it a point to get there. Their food and wine pairings are outstanding, the wine selection is fantastic, the service is really down to earth and the menu is really really good.
We all enjoyed the food very much, as usual. We forgot about the live music on Friday nights - the band was good but it's a small space and the noise made conversation difficult.
We loved the food and the live band! The waitress was nice and friendly as well. All around a great place, we have been here before and will be back again. I've already recommended it!
Both my husband and myself enjoyed the meal. Getting upstairs was difficult for me but, I managed and took my time going up and coming down. ( not handicap friendly and does not indicate it on web site) It was very pleasant and quiet when we arrived to celebrate my birthday. People started to arrive and kept their voices down which was enjoyable and you could talk to each other. At the end of the meal a group arrived and sat at the long table by the bar and the volume increased considerably. (Very annoying) The waitress and bar maid were excellent.
Booked lunch here from a recommendation of a host on airbnb. Loved the restaurant decor inside, calm atmosphere, food was delicious, and service was friendly and fast. A definite place to stop and try!
We went for lunch and ate upstairs. The setting is very casual with small tables and one big communal table. We had the tuna tartare, the charcuterie plate and the beef sandwich special. The tuna was our favourite it was delicious. The charcuterie had a variety of meats and pates with pickled egg and pickled apple which was delicious. The beef sandwich was a little disappointing, but that might have only been because the first two dishes were so tasty.
Will definitely go back again. We spent two hours there at lunch time on a Saturday and didn’t feel rushed at all. Very friendly staff.
Good food.Creative cooking and excellent wines. Recomended.
Our meals were spectacular! As always. Try the weekly cocktails specials you won’t be disappointed.
Very nice but our table was placed right next to the band that was playing. Could hardly hear ourselves talk. Kind of ruined the evening out with our friends.
I always enjoy Bruce's Wine Bar. Love the atmosphere and the food.
Awesome! Loved the Duck!
Very good meal again! Always consistent with great value !
Awesome , beat food and cocktails up north
Excellent night out, friendly and very accommodating
Waiter was rushing us...the beer arrived 5 minutes before the meal...so the meal was finished before the meal. Waiter asked if we wanted dessert twice even though we asked him to let us finish our beer. We ended up having coffee and dessert elsewhere. Food? Not good. Lentils salad with 3 slices of vegetables..for 25$. Pizza with almost no ingredients on it. Do not go.
Excellent service. Special touches - birthday dessert plate. Delicious appetizers and pizza
Offering a night of inexpensive corkage is a stroke of genius on their part. Combine that with a pizza from the wood-burning fireplace and you have all the makings of a great evening.
Fantastic as always. The soups are so flavourful and the pizzas are interesting and delicious!
Great staff, fun evening, good pizza and other foods (salad was so so). I agree with some of the other comments about the comfort of the chairs....could be better.
We had a really great Friday night at Bruce Wine Bar. Great wine, awesome pizza, good salad and fantastic live music. Service was very good. Wonderful relaxed environment. We will be back again and again!
All good, food, service. Chairs are super uncomfortable. Wine selection is extremely limited. This is a good restaurant, but it is not a wine bar.
Every time we eat at Bruce Wine Bar, it’s an excellent dining experience from start to finish!
We’re always seated promptly, and we’re well-looked after throughout the evening.
From appetizers to desserts, the meal is spectacular! One of our favourite apps’ to share is the polenta bites - delicious!
Do yourself a favour when in Thornbury, and dine at Bruce Wine Bar! You’ll be glad you did!
This was our first time to Bruce wine bar and we will definetly return. The food was exceptional, the staff was responsive and friendly. We also really enjoyed the atmosphere. We had the cheese platter and loved EVERY bite.
We went for a nice date night and got what we expected. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. The downside of the food was it was a little pricey, which we expected, and the quantity of food were very moderate portions. I’d suggest this for a nice occasional date night for people, or for anyone passing through town.
