The food here is very good and authentic Italian. However, if it is only 2 of you going DO NOT ACCEPT tables near the big round table. Two of the three taables should not even be there - they are obviously there just to squeeze more people into the restaurant. The noise level and hustle of waiters around you is impossible. My wife and I spent the whole meal asking each other to repeat ourselves. Ruined the whole evening. And what really put me off was when our main course came I asked to be moved because of the noise level and was told no other table was available. On leaving I saw that a table I had seen as empty but thought it was for 4 people actually was a table for two.
The food was excellent and the service staff better than excellent.
Our server was superb and two of the four of us thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My guest enjoyed eating my meal; his meal, we took away as a treat for the dog.
First of all, the Insalata Lattuga E Formaggio Di Capra. While it's so nice to see cool, crisp butter lettuce in any restaurant these days (instead of those tedious 'mixed greens'), goat cheese is ALWAYS served at room temperature and should be creamy throughout. In my case, the cheese was nearly frozen and the centre was so hard, it flaked with a fork. Also, there is no point in telling people that there are 'candied almonds' on a salad unless they can actually taste them--teeny slivers of nuts are merely decoration.
Then I ordered the Filetto Ai Formaggio Blu, which was perfect. But my guest ordered the Arrosto Di Agnello, and he specifically said he wanted the lamb done 'precisely medium'. When it arrived, it was nearly blue, with the consistency of rubber and barely penetrable with a steak knife. While our server offered to redo it, that would mean that he'd be sitting there, hungry and waiting, so I gave him my meal.
As is the case with so many Vancouver restaurants now, liquor sales are paying the rent--a glass of wine at this restaurant is pretty much the same as an entire bottle. Suppliers are delivering tough meat and chefs don't seem to be able to deal with it. They are also not paying attention to what customers order: 'precisely medium' is clear. If there is any doubt in the kitchen, the server should clarify.
Wonderful in every way. Will definitely be back. Even the foccacia bread was perfection!
This is our favourite neighbourhood restaurant. They are very friendly and welcoming with great food!!
Consistently good service and food. Elegant and attractive decor,
Mangia E Bevi is my favourite restaurant - the servers are wonderful and have been there for a long time, which shows the great corporate culture the owners have developed.
Excellent ambiance and service. Quiet, clean and easy parking. Highly recommended.
Awesome food and service. Never disappoints. Keeps me coming back!
1st time outside, how nice.
Everything else as always, great.
Very disappointing pasta. It was extremely garlicky, couldn’t even eat it, it was so bad. It tasted like somebody just dumped half of jar of gnarly pre-minced garlic into the dish. No offer was made to correct the situation and still had to pay for it so my friend took it home. The grilled vegetables were almost ok, a bit over blanched then grilled, but far more edible. The best thing was the glass of wine, but overall, what a waste of $50. The patio is nice, but I don’t recommend it for people who are expecting a good Italian pasta.
Was Great!! Best Chocolate molten lava cake out of many places!
Excellent service in a very beautiful area. The waiter was extremely polite and informative about town and things to do.
The food was excellent and the service was very good.
Off the charts! Everything was excellent. Best restaurant on the North Shore
Another great meal consisting of seafood and the new dessert offering of the cherry compote strata with cream. Consistent and lovely atmosphere.
Food was very good (probably the best pasta in Vancouver/lemon tart for dessert was excellent); server was very attentive.
Was able to accommodate our request for a quiet table (not in the middle of the room)
Will bring our family visiting from outside of the province for dinner later this month!
Awesome! Best restaurant on the North Shore!
Sat outside on the patio. Very nice. Inside can get noisy when it is busy. Very good service and lovely food.
we hadn't been there for awhile but choose it for its consistant good food , service and ambiance, we found it was, as usual, a great evening.
Excellent as always.
Never eaten here before but had known about this place for several years. We ate early (5:15) and at an outside table which was very comfortable. Service was prompt, polite, informative and excellent. Great wine selection, my selection discussed and was perfect. Food was very tasty and perfectly prepared. Shared the lemon tart for dessert, a perfect end. This is a place we will visit again. Delightful.
excellent food, excellent service, overall a great dining experience.
Always good, but very salty! Ask to reduce
We have been to Mangia e Bevi numerous times in the past, and have enjoyed our visits. While not exceptional, the food has been of good quality and service has been pleasant. On this visit, however, we found a few things not to our liking, and our overall experience was less enjoyable as a result. Some examples: My wife ordered a favourite of hers - the beef carpaccio with parmesan - and our server asked if she'd like to have Arugula with it, as many guests apparently do. My wife agreed, and it was fine, but we were surprised to find that a charge was added to the bill for it. Really? It was a $16 appetizer and you had to add $3 for Arugula you recommended? Tacky. In addition, the carpaccio comes with a dressing/sauce that my wife particularly likes, and it was not much in evidence with the dish. Small things, perhaps, but this is a signature dish for us at this restaurant and it was disappointing. I ordered the beet salad with Buratta, and, not to overdo the Arugula theme, I had to push aside an abundance of Arugula to find the Buratta. The Buratta was not the best I've had, but not the worst either, although a small serving at best. Which, I guess, was appropriate, since there weren't many beets either. Again, disappointing. For a $17 appetizer, I expected better. Our mains were the mushroom ravioli and the strozzapreti - both acceptable, but far from extraordinary (which was OK, because that was our expectation). Still, it would have been a pleasant surprise to discover an exceptional pasta dish at a restaurant focussed on Italian cuisine.
The service was fine, although a bit cloying, to be honest. Better that than indifferent.
Excellent food and the service was amazing fast always with in reach but never had to ask.
Great food and service as usual
We have been to this restaurant several times in the last six months and on both occasions we had a great experience. The food is great and consistent in quality and the wine list is very well selected. We found a great white blend produced by the famous Camus wine producers and it was super. One spaghetti dish is to die for Delicioso and everything else including the dessert was great.
Service and Food were a 5 out of 5.
Great place, would definitely recommend to friends.
Excellent service. Great food.
We enjoyed our evening at this restaurant. Fine Dining - professional waiters - lots of choices for vegetarian or fish. Well done Italian.
We were there on pasta night we all had different plates and they were terrific.
The team here is just fantastic worth the trip !pastas are always delicious and wine list is well put together and very well priced
Our group all had pasta dishes and they were all absolutely delicious. Will be back there very soon!
Our first visit to the restaurant and we were very impressed by the food and the service.
Great food! Great service! Great value!
Always great service and food
Fabulous on all counts. Especially enjoyed the $12 pasta special. What a wonderful surprise!
Highly recommended to us by close friends who frequently dine there and we felt the people over delivered in every respect. Feels like a family run restaurant as the servers really seem to care about all aspects of the dining experience. Food was off the charts good and the server was perfect. Thank you we will definitely be back !
Our dining experience was wonderful. First we were informed that all the pastas dishes were $12 which was wonderful. The waiter was exceptional. He took his time and did not rush us. He took care of all our needs and even brought us a second plate of bread without us having to ask. Our salads were very tasty and both of us where happy with the pastas that were served to us. Our overall experience was very good and we will be coming back to dine again. We will also be recommending your restaurant to our friends.
Thanks Again Moira & Rob Boyd
