My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here, after a wonderful play. Great food, service, and wine selection! The only down side is we thought the prices were high.
Pricier than I usually go, but worth it. Dinner is an event, with superb presentation. Lunch is less so but still good.
The menu choices focussing on ‘Canada’ were much appreciated. Our servers were professionally friendly and knowledgeable. Also enjoyed the live piano music.
Although I made the reservation one week in advance, we were not placed in the dining room, but in the lounge. The food and service were good, but we sat beside a lady working on her computer and not eating and with a family of young children. As two senior ladies, I expected better quality for me and my friend from your establishment.
service was nice & attentive when we ate lunch on the patio. It is very close to the festival theater (walking to it), With that said I was surprised at the tiny size of the salad (only a few pieces of lettuce, one third of the bowl had nothing on it, making it seem like they forgot to finish filling the salad plate bowl), and when I had an expresso at the end of the meal it came in a demitasse cup, but there was only about 1 tablespoon of expreso in the cup, again only a partial serving & for $ 2.50 ! - having lived in france for a long time as well as plenty of dining on this continent I was shocked at the tiny serving and seriously it doesn't cost but a few cents more to create a proper serving size
Food was good but pricy. Service was excellent but a bit slow
Lovely but pricy restaurant with wonderful service. Only a short walk to the Festival Theater. And it’s QUIET.
We had the pickerel, lamb, and pork cutlet from the lunch menu. All great meals and price was reasonable. The dinner menu was way overpriced though at $40 to $50 a meal. Langdon Hall in Cambridge isn’t even that expensive and the quality and inventiveness there is much greater. However, the wine prices were reasonable - $10 for a glass at the Bruce vs $20 at Langdon.
Went here for breakfast. Service was as amazing as the food.
Always fantastic. One of my top rated restaurants and a restaurant I use to compare all others against.
We truly enjoyed the seasonal tasting menu with the wine pairings. Our experience was outstanding and we highly recommend this restaurant. The paprika honey butter served with the sourdough boule was made from honey made on premises by local bees! It doesn’t get any more carefully done than that.
Thank you Chef Arron, our server John and our talented sommelier Brie who made our evening so special.
Breakfast was outstanding. Everything we ate and we ate a lot was yummy and not particularly fattening!! We ate breakfast twice and each time consistently delicious! Great service and ambiance (of course we chose the less formal dining room) and comfort!
This was our first visit to the Bruce and will certainly return. Food and service was great.
This was our first experience at this restaurant and definitely won’t be our last! The food was creative and delicious! The service was attentive without being overbearing. We did the wine pairing. The sommelier was very informative! Can’t wait to come back next year!
Fantastic Dining Experience! Food, staff and surrounding all great! We will return!
A gem right here in Stratford!♥
Our go to place for a special occasion
My lady friends and I always enjoy our lunch dates at the Bruce, beautiful atmosphere, great food, no rush lots of time to catch up, just perfect
Delicious starters lived up to their well-crafted narratives, especially the Haida Gwaii Tuna. We appreciated the attractive split of our shared Duck entré. Service was attentive, ensuring a timely departure for the 8:00 pm show at the Festival Theater.
The food was excellent. The service, beyond excellent. The staff talked to us like old friends and gave excellent advice on the food and wine.
The Bruce was outstanding! Atmosphere was beautiful. The staff was personable, knowledgeable, attentive, and very nice. The cocktails were creative and delicious. The appetizer, entrée, and dessert were all exceptional. So glad this was our special dinner night out for our annual trip to the Stratford Theater Festival. What a find! How were we not here before? We all thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience of dining at The Bruce. Definitely looking forward to a return visit.
Amazing service. Outstanding food. A short walk to the Festival Theater.
We really had a wondeerful dinner last Saturday Night. It was the best meal I have had in a very long time. We have traveled the world and would recommend this spot to anyone who loves good restaurants..Staying at the Bruce is speaial....Much attention to detail and they even drove us and picked us up at the theatres.
This is truly a gem of a place! We had two lunches and one dinner here. The food is outstanding and it is a wonderful place for people with allergies. One of our all time favourite Stratford restaurants.
We had a very good brunch. The staff was quite pleasant, but the service was, on this particular day, a bit disorganized. It's a very pleasant place.
Finest Hotel in Stratford
Reastaurants are spectacular and beautiful. Menus unique in their fresh preparations
Not to be missed
Great spot for lunch or dinner - amazing ambiance and food. Highly recommend
I love this place! It has outstanding service and delicious food with a beautiful settin. The staff is wonderful!
ate breakfast there, excellent experience all around from very helpful staff, good food, gorgeous ambiance! Highly recommend
Staff were particularly friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was gracious and understated. We were told that the chef chose to work only with locally sourced ingredients, some of which were unusual (reindeer moss, spruce, birch sap?) and we approached our meals with anticipation. The surprise was how uniformly bland the chef had managed to make each item that arrived, from appetizer to dessert. The restaurant seriously missed the bar they set for themselves.
Staff were very friendly and superior customer service. Beautiful clean upscale hotel. Would definitely recommend!
We've eaten at The Bruce in past years on our visits to Stratford, and have always liked it -- but this year, we all agreed that the chef outdid himself. We had the tasting menu and were very happy that we'd chosen it -- every dish was just perfection, and none of them were on the regular menu, so we got to try a lot of original and interesting dishes. Our favorite was the corn soup with kernels of fresh corn -- I can't even explain why this was so delicious, but it was incredibly velvety and well balanced.
The wine pairings were very good (though I thought the pours were very skimpy for the $65 price tag, about an ounce each and no refills if you drank the wine before the food came). The "mocktail" pairing was the most creative and interesting I've ever had, and the "drinksmaster" who came out to explain his creations was so enthusiastic about every selection that we really got into it.
My only complaint (other than the skimpy wine pours) was that the pacing of the meal was a little off. Normally we would only try the tasting menu on a non-theater night, but this year that didn't work for our schedule, so we made a super-early reservation in order to fit it in. While they did serve us, the server wasn't really watching the clock, and there were a number of delays that meant we were scrambling to gobble down dessert in time to race off to the play. The solution to this, of course, is to NOT go to The Bruce pre-theater -- go after a matinee, and enjoy! We always choose our dinner options for our annual week in Stratford with great care, and I can say unequivocally that The Bruce was hands-down everyone's favorite meal this year.
What a hidden treasure. Delicious wine pairing with perch Blueberry grunt lavender whip cream amazing aviary in the garden. Hope to be back
My husband and I were extremely happy and amazed with our dinner. The bottle of wine we ordered needed to be chilled so the hotel took initiative and offered us a complementary cocktail as we waited. The meal was outstanding; so favourful and got better with every bite.
We also ate at the hotel for breakfast and it was just as good as the dinner. Will definitely be back!
Beautiful venue. Stunning decor. Good food. Outstanding service. Classical music just loud enough.
When in Stratford, Ontario Canada, this is the place to go for a very special meal and ambiance. We love to culminate our week of theatre by going to dinner at The Bruce. Sometimes we eat there twice in a week. It is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny.
Excellent location, service and food. First time here and we will be back
A beautiful hotel property and setting - gardens and bee hives provide both charm and flora for the diners. Wait Staff charming and knowledgable. Walk out the back and through the grounds to the Stratford Festival Theater. Leave your vehicle in the lot. Couldn't not be more convenient if you're theater-bound. Definitely will plan a return visit next season.
A friend from the States was visiting Stratford. I had been to The Bruce several times before and enjoyed it. My friend will be returning for a meal and the bar again before she goes back home.
Lovely lunch on the patio with Romeo on the balcony above! Quiet ambience was perfect for a relaxed conversation over food and wine. We will be back for theatre dining and for family dining.
Service and quality of food was wonderful.
We asked for a tour of the place after and one was set up right away and it was very enjoyable.
I would go back with out hesitation.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, service staff were friendly and very professional!
