Quiet, white linens, good quality food. Didn't stay at the hotel, but may look into it for next time.
We went for supper, all of the staff were exceptional. They made our visit very enjoyable. The food was great and the price reasonable.
A truly genuine experience. The atmosphere was comfortable and pleasant while being a step above. Creative dishes prepared with excellence. Tremendous attention to detail from the cocktails through the desserts.
A very friendly greeting and loved our table. Our waitress was excellent and attentive. The food was fabulous. Really looking forward to returning for lunch or dinner.
Great evening before theater...the hostess Merle was extremely helpful. We will be back!!
The Bruce is one of the nicer hotels I have stayed in. Very well appointed through-out. Staff exceptionally courteous and helpful and the food was outstanding. Perfect get away for our sister's weekend. I will return.
only problem dining room was closed and we are in the bar area
pleasant but would have bee. nice to know that dr closed
Table was scratched and pitted. Sent buns back as They were so stale I couldn’t even break one open. Sent food back as fries were cold. Overpriced for quality of the dinner.
The meal was as we expected...very good!
I am a celiac and they accommodated my needs easily. On our way home we planned to return and stay in the lovely hotel!
We had an excellent experience at this restaurant. The food was very inspired and the service was outstanding .
We ate at the Bruce before an evening theater show. The food was exceptional -- one of us had the beet salad and halibut entree; the other had the squid appetizer and duck entree. There was no room for dessert! The depth of taste was remarkable across all of our choices. When lentils can almost outshine halibut, you know you have a good dish! My only quibble was the longish gap between appetizers and entrees. We still got to the nearby theater in plenty of time but the pacing was a little off.
First time at The Bruce. Good wine list and selection. Also, the people who worked at the bar, desk, and in the restaurant were very attentive.
The restaurant is fantastic! We always do the three-course meal and the liver pate as well as halibut is outstanding! Wine selection is comprehensive so try a Canadian wine!
I have a wonderful relaxing brunch at the Bruce with a very attentative (but not too much) staff. The food was great and it was so relaxing to eat and watch birds fly over the private garden
Limited menu but delicious food and perfect service.
The only thing stopping me from rating The Bruce 5 stars across the board was a slight lack of professionalism in the service. It was friendly and efficient but it really is irritating to be told that every single choice we made was “perfect” and “wonderful”. What I order for dinner is not perfect or wonderful and I don’t want the wait staff’s approval of what I choose to eat. It’s patronizing, not polite. I expect better from a high end, expensive restaurant like this. The sommelier was outstanding.
We were very impressed by the minimalist decor and the view outside the soaring windows.
however the food was a disappointment from start to finish, including barely warm coffee.
The service was impeccable but the whole experience was disappointing as the food, after all, is why you are there.
A good friend and I came for dinner before the Rocky Horror Show to celebrate her birthday and promotion. We both work in the industry and were beyond excited for dinner at The Bruce. We decided to go all out and do the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings. It was absolutely beyond anything we could have imagined. Every dish was absolutely perfect, with the highlight for me being the venison and for my friend the grilled cheese and pate. Our server Dana was fantastic, going through each dish with us and sharing in our excitement and nerdiness for all of the food. Jonny, the sommelier, was so knowledgeable and described each of our pairings beautifully. The Chenin Blanc was ridiculous. Overall such an amazing experience, from the food, the wine, the service, ambience; everything was perfect.
Great restaurant, food & service! The town & theatre worth the drive!
The restaurant at the Bruce was excellent! Food and service were both superior, and the room was very nice with tables nicely spaced and large picture windows connected to exterior grades. First rate!
The ambience and service was excellent. As we had no choice re: the day of meeting, we came on a Monday and were restricted to the lounge menu. Almost all the selections which interested us were deep-fried which was not in our view healthy. I had the skirt steak and it was not well marinated. the vegetables were overloaded with french fries and a few over cooked fried onions. The two desserts tried were considered to be very good (strawberry shortcake and pannacotta). Even the pannacotta seemed to have too large crand greasy a crueller for the delicacy and tastiness of the dessert. We were very happy with the server who did everything she could to accommodate us by turning down the music and being as unobtrusive as possible as we were having a small family re-connection. I would only come again perhaps on a day the dining room menu was available and not limited to the lounge menu.
Absolutely fantastic brunch! Will return for dinner in the future
Appetizers (smoked salmon & duck mousse) were amazing. We had the halibut special that was absolutely perfect. We would order any of these items again! The weakest part of the meal were the desserts. They were average but beautiful. They also need to add some type of chocolate on the dessert menu. We hope to visit there again.
My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here, after a wonderful play. Great food, service, and wine selection! The only down side is we thought the prices were high.
Pricier than I usually go, but worth it. Dinner is an event, with superb presentation. Lunch is less so but still good.
The menu choices focussing on ‘Canada’ were much appreciated. Our servers were professionally friendly and knowledgeable. Also enjoyed the live piano music.
Although I made the reservation one week in advance, we were not placed in the dining room, but in the lounge. The food and service were good, but we sat beside a lady working on her computer and not eating and with a family of young children. As two senior ladies, I expected better quality for me and my friend from your establishment.
service was nice & attentive when we ate lunch on the patio. It is very close to the festival theater (walking to it), With that said I was surprised at the tiny size of the salad (only a few pieces of lettuce, one third of the bowl had nothing on it, making it seem like they forgot to finish filling the salad plate bowl), and when I had an expresso at the end of the meal it came in a demitasse cup, but there was only about 1 tablespoon of expreso in the cup, again only a partial serving & for $ 2.50 ! - having lived in france for a long time as well as plenty of dining on this continent I was shocked at the tiny serving and seriously it doesn't cost but a few cents more to create a proper serving size
Food was good but pricy. Service was excellent but a bit slow
Lovely but pricy restaurant with wonderful service. Only a short walk to the Festival Theater. And it’s QUIET.
We had the pickerel, lamb, and pork cutlet from the lunch menu. All great meals and price was reasonable. The dinner menu was way overpriced though at $40 to $50 a meal. Langdon Hall in Cambridge isn’t even that expensive and the quality and inventiveness there is much greater. However, the wine prices were reasonable - $10 for a glass at the Bruce vs $20 at Langdon.
Went here for breakfast. Service was as amazing as the food.
Always fantastic. One of my top rated restaurants and a restaurant I use to compare all others against.
We truly enjoyed the seasonal tasting menu with the wine pairings. Our experience was outstanding and we highly recommend this restaurant. The paprika honey butter served with the sourdough boule was made from honey made on premises by local bees! It doesn’t get any more carefully done than that.
Thank you Chef Arron, our server John and our talented sommelier Brie who made our evening so special.
Breakfast was outstanding. Everything we ate and we ate a lot was yummy and not particularly fattening!! We ate breakfast twice and each time consistently delicious! Great service and ambiance (of course we chose the less formal dining room) and comfort!
This was our first visit to the Bruce and will certainly return. Food and service was great.
This was our first experience at this restaurant and definitely won’t be our last! The food was creative and delicious! The service was attentive without being overbearing. We did the wine pairing. The sommelier was very informative! Can’t wait to come back next year!
Fantastic Dining Experience! Food, staff and surrounding all great! We will return!
A gem right here in Stratford!♥
Our go to place for a special occasion
My lady friends and I always enjoy our lunch dates at the Bruce, beautiful atmosphere, great food, no rush lots of time to catch up, just perfect
Delicious starters lived up to their well-crafted narratives, especially the Haida Gwaii Tuna. We appreciated the attractive split of our shared Duck entré. Service was attentive, ensuring a timely departure for the 8:00 pm show at the Festival Theater.
