We went there for our 16th wedding anniversary. Dan was very attentive to us. The food was very tasty and cooked just right.
Excellent service and delicious food. Love LaSardine. Was there for lunch two weeks ago which was also terrific. I’ll definitely be back soon.
This was my second time here - the Steak Frites was amazing. Incredibly well prepared. My wife had the Mackerel special that was equally delicious. It’s a great place for delicious French food.
We love La Sardine. Food is always interesting and delicious. The wait staff goes out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. We've become "regulars."
I have dined here a number of times and always been pleased with the food, but have always been there on a busy night. This last visit was on a Wednesday night, with very few other diners present. This made the experience of superb wine, food and service that much more enjoyable, with little background noise. I will be back.
We had a lovely evening. The food was delicious, as usual. When we were seated, we were immediately advised that it was 'prix fixe' night. I enjoyed a lovely salad, beautifully presented trout and delicious creme brulee. All in all, a charming evening.
Amazing dining experience! Service was the best and the food was delicious!! We love this place!!
La Sardine never disappoints. Wonderful specials and knowledgeable wait staff. Can always get a great wine pairing.
If you like French food La Sardine is your go to place on the westside. Great drinks and food.
Consistently good. Very good service. You can’t go wrong
Service and food were great as always. My parents love to come out here to celebrate special occasions because the reliability on delicious food, nice ambiance, and outstanding service.
We ordered the fix price Menu last Tuesday. My steak frites dinner was overcooked and noticed by the waiter who sent it back immediately, and the manager also assured me it would be corrected. It was. A very nice effort. The souffles were amazing.
$16.00 for valet I thought was outrageous when you are dining there...
We love this restaurant and have been going there for years. It is always consistently excellent and the food is amazing!
Hadn't been there in a few years...still fantastic. Our group of four had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent also.
La Sardine is very inconsistent in the quality of its food and its wine selection is poor. My wife and I along with friends have frequented the restaurant over 12 years. The inconsistent nature of the restaurant has occurred over the last 3-4 years. The latest experience was the most disappointing.
We took our daughter and her best friend to celebrate the start of their new careers. It was a wonderful evening. They has a first experience of "real" beef Wellington. Our service was exceptional, the food was excellent, we can't wait to return.
The busboy service is not so good. There were a couple times they just grabbed our plates from us without asking if they were finished or not. The busboys were kind of rough when collecting the finished plates. Some sauce has splashed on my and wife’s shirts. Also, the waiter gave me a dirty plate and I told him to get me a new clean one. But he just turned around using a cloth to wipe the residue and gave me back the plate. That was disgusting. He thought I didn’t see it.
One of our favorite restaurants. Amazingly consistent quality French cuisine. When Jean-Claude died we were concerned that the restaurant would suffer. However, I believe he would be proud of the way his standards have been maintained. Last nights meal of fish cheeks, mussels and Grand Marnier was outstanding. Quality wines at reasonable prices an added bonus.
Loved the fixed price dinner. The desert was unbelievable. Great for our party of 8.
La Sardine is a hidden gem. It offers a wonderful selection of French dishes. We started with nice, refreshing cocktails and were immediately service warm, French bread with creamy butter. We had escargot and salads to start. We dipped our bread into the wonderful escargot sauce. Entrees were leg of lamb perfectly prepared with goat cheese mashed potatoes and patty pan squash. We also had white fish served with a wonderful cucumber and fennel salad. We ordered a nice Chateau Neuf de Pape to go wth dinner. Desserts were the apple tarts with ice cream and a raspberry soufflé. Coffee finished the meal. Service was attentive, but not hovering. Spacing of food was prefect.
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary with a dinner and play. This was our first visit to La Sardine and it was just excellent. We both went with the $38 prefix dinner on Tuesday nites. All our selections were great and portion sizes were more than enough. Our waiter Dan was perfect with recommendations that were spot on. We will be back with more family and friends.
The service was wonderful as usual . Food was great, and our guest loved it.
Beautiful evening and dinner
Loved the manager Nick...he def made us feel special...
positive notes first: food is amazing. we had the Tartare, the fish collier and the bouillabaisse and they were all great.
only not positive note, the A/C was really cranking and the temperature way too low for us....
The tuesday offer is unbeatable
Acceptable food but nothing to run back to.
So good. Cool atmosphere, approachable and delicious. Love this place.
An amazingly consistent restaurant. We've been going here since they opened (maybe 20 years ago) and have never had a bad meal. French bistro food done perfectly, with enough change of menu periodically to keep it from being tired. And the service is amazing--one thing we've noticed is that all the servers cover each other's tables for things like water filling, clearing plates, etc.--it helps prevent undue delays when your server gets trapped by a talkative customer, etc. Broad wine list with some reasonably priced Bordeaux and an apple tart to die for.
Overall good experience. Friendly service though not always efficient. My pasta dish was on the over salty side, but all other dishes were great.
Service was phenomenal, and it only made our experience more lovely and enhanced the delicious food and wine. The escargot is beyond words. Will be back soon if only for that. Best kept secret in the West Loop that deserves to be on everyone’s dining destination list.
A really fine, fine establishment. Never disappointed, food and service always excellent. I had a lobster salad that was out of this world!
Don't waste your time, just go eat at La Sardine! It is one of the best French restaurants in the USA
I have always loved LaSardine but the Bastille menu was exceptional. I had the salmon en croute . It had a flavorful stuffing and the flavors melded together perfectly. I am ready to order it again. Everyone in our party was equally pleased with our meal
The lamb was delicious however the sides of the entree came out very cold. My partners suck came out very rare, almost uncooked and was extremely chewy and inedible. When we complained, it was sent back to be reheated.... the customer service could’ve been better surrounding the food and him having to wait for his food while he watched me eat mine. We’ve been here before and it wasn’t bad, the quality has been inconsistent.
Never disappointed! I come here several times every year, grilled fish collar is my favorite and can't miss the soufflé!
If you love French food, definitely give this place a try - the place is large and did get lively, but has that small restaurant feel to it, which is great if you like a Mom-n-Pop feel. We had a birthday dinner for a total of six people; ordered escargots, morels on toast (2x!), steak tartare, terrine de foie gras (even a person who dislikes pate loved this), and two (French) cheeses from the five that were available. Everything came out really quickly, was adequately hot, and tasted delicious. For dinner: A white fish with capers, which I think may have been a special but I highly recommended it, 2 x perfectly done (served medium rare) duck breast on the savory side, lobster roll (I thought this was a bit too soggy for my liking), lobster ravioli - one giant dumpling with lobster meat in it in a delicious white sauce, and salmon in filo dough - think sandwich-like, not my favourite of the evening, it was well cooked, but the filo and lettuce accentuated the salmon flavour too much for me. We topped the dinner off with the raspberry and chocolate souffles (the raspberry one was just right - not too sweet, not too tart). I will definitely go back for a regular dinner; Le Bouchon is their sister restaurant, equally amazing food there. I will add that Dan, our server, was excellent with timing out our food - they seemed to have great staff, all around, really. He even brought out a little sorbet with a candle to help me celebrate.
Great food...soufflé was outstanding as was Beef Wellington.
The food was fantastic! This restaurant is off of the beaten path in the West Loop so it seems more intimate. It was the perfect place for a date.
The food was excellent! Very great quality of food and outstanding service.
Go on a Monday night....not crowded, not noisy, and wine bottles half off....plus the food is good.
