I visited my daughter at university and treated her to a dinner out. Would definitely go back.
We had a nice time. The food was good but not fabulous. Our waitress was quite nice and it is a cute space.
Wonderful meal. The staff was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone. Visiting Waterloo. The menu is a bit in the pricey side but it is delicious. I will definitely be returning.
Keep it up! Food was excellent. Service is great. Make sure the Mill Steet draught beer is ready next time!
We were celebrating 2 different events and the wait staff couldn't have been more cooperative. The food was fantastic as always and there were enough choices for everyone
Great upbeat ambiance when we were out with friends. Nice twist on some classic menu items. Definitely recommend.
Great meeting place for friends. Met my brother before going to Center in the Square. Good food at a reasonable price - great atmosphere in an historic building.
I had a great time celebrating my birthday at Bauer Kitchen with a parent. The food was fantastic, our wine was delicious, and all the staff were warm and helpful, especially our waitress Elisse. I’m very glad I chose to spend my birthday dinner here and would recommend it to anyone!
Ceasar salad was not made with creamy dressing, so therefore didn't taste all that good. Prime Rib was done the way I like it but was not tender and hard to cut. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable. My dinner was not hot when it arrived to our table.
We had a reservation, thank God, other wise we would have had to wait for a table. Nice atmosphere. Service was excellent. Food took some time to arrive, but was very good. A bit pricy for brunch. Generally a good place to eat. I would recommend it.
Made a reservation and the table we had was crammed into the corner, right in the area where two large groups are seated. Had to get the person at the large table to move so we could get by our table. Food came, burger bun was stale and fell apart, burger was over cooked and dry Back bacon on the Eggs Benedict was like leather. Couldn’t be cut and not edible. Home fries were cold. Manager was nice and wanted to make it right but, we left food on table and went elsewhere for lunch.
The food was extremely disappointing. Salad was ok but the steak and fries were both way over cooked. For what you spend ($100+ including wine and tip), the value just isn’t there. I would not recommend this place to a friend.
We have been to the Bauer Kitchen several times before, and went back because of those experiences. A nice but casual atmosphere, great food and wine. Any restaurant run by the Charcoal Group is a sure bet for a nice dining experience, every time.
Sooooo disappointed! Don’t waste your money!
Table wasn’t ready, even though we had a reservation. Fine, I understand that previous parties can take longer to leave, and establishments don’t want to kick anyone out, I get that. Then things really went downhill. It took nearly an hour to get our food and, once it did come, half of our brunch dishes were cold. Cold omelettes, cold hollandaise sauce on cold eggs Benedict — yuk! But by that time, we were too hungry to send anything back.....and wait who knows how long for another one!! To add salt to the wound, the hostess noticed that our food was taking a *very* long time and promised to bring pastries/bread right away to appease us until the food came... and then SHE NEVER BROUGHT THEM!!! Completely unacceptable. This was all especially disappointing because we were there to celebrate my grandmother‘s 88th birthday. I chose that place because I really wanted it to be special. What a bust. Definitley WON'T be back.
This is a go to for us and so on this trip when 2 of the 4 meals had a “hiccup” I’m not goong to lambaste them, the restaurant is fun, kool... comfortable and the service is ridiculously good... gnocchi was great as was pasta but 2 burgers got overcooked... it happens to the best of us. Looking forward to going back
First time there and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be back. Our waitress suggested coming for the Sunday brunch. Always looking for different venues for brunch so this’ll be the next stop.
We had an amazing server for my birthday! She brought me a cake as a surprise and was super sweet!
Came in with my family for a birthday dinner and found the service to be great. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. However the food was completely subpar. The calamari was a relatively small portion for the price which was disappointing. The burger meat was good, however the bun was dry and the toppings sparse only adding to the dry mouth feel. My dining companion had the tagliatelle and it was decidedly not worth the $21 price tag. The pasta was over done, under sauced and unremarkable. Similarly, the portion size and flavour of the gnocchi was nothing to be praised.
For such a beautiful restaurant, the food did not meet our expectations.
Always good food and great service!
The food wasn't composed as nicely as it usually is yesterday, and the pulled pork on my dish was dry - felt like it was possibly left over from a previous day or two. Still great flavours though, service is always excellent, and really appreciate that there is care around food allergies.
Very nice evening
Manager and staff on point
Non intrusive service
Met my expectations and that’s a good thing
Great food and service however way too noisy for any type of conversation on a Saturday night. Definitely not an appropriate location for a date. I found the glass of wine (Malbec to be specific) too pricey for the average priced menu. As delicious as the food was, there weren’t enough options for someone who is a picky eater. We were 7 minutes late for our Open Table reservation and waited 10 minutes before getting our table however two groups ahead of us were seated immediately without reservations. Not impressive. Won’t be making a point to return too quickly. Too many other places to spend my $200 for dinner.
Excellent service! Top notch atmosphere
Great food...a bit loud, but fun environment. Would definitely recommend
Lovely meal and the drinks are nicely crafted, definitely worth visiting for those who have a bit of a refined palate for cocktails. Our server Sara was fantastic! Very knowledgable and friendly, she wrote down all the cocktail specials (since we were seated too far away to see) and was good about asking for allergies. She also asked if we were celebrating something (we were, a new job) and brought us champagne on the house. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Great evening, great service, good food. Go to spot in the region for a get together with family and friends.
Service was fantastic and went above and beyond to make my daughter's birthday special - surprised her with a decadent piece of cake when they noticed the gifts we brought for her. They even created a salmon meal for her based on her preferences as does not like the food that was supposed to come with the salmon dish. My only small disappointment would be that the lemon and rosemary roast chicken I ordered did not have much flavour, very juicy but bland. Everyone else really enjoyed their meal. Overall however a wonderful evening out!
Consistent place for excellent dining experience. Shared app, salad and a pizza. Delicious!
Neighbourhood restaurant for us, go often. Mentioned it was our anniversary and were treated royally with a glass of Prosecco and Cindy gave us a decadent dessert to take home. Was lovely and often refer friends .
Went for brunch, nice patio, good food and good value. Very enjoyable Saturday morning.
My favourite restaurant to go to when I'm in Waterloo meeting clients.
Our server Sarah was the perfect amount of attentive, she even noticed my boyfriend getting a birthday gift and brought him dessert with a candle, she was great.
Food was excellent and the restaurant vibe was great, from those really dressed up to the more casual side every one seemed to blend.
Thanks for the great dinner on Sat!
The Bauer kitchen always exceeds my expectations each and every time we have a meal there. My husband ordered a medium rare steak and it came well done, within 5 mins of speaking to the waiter the manager brought another steak perfectly cooked with no fuss. The rest of our meal was perfect as expected. This will always be our place for a get together with friends and family... worth the drive from Cambridge!!!
The Bauer Kitchen is a consistently good dining experience, offering well-prepared food in an upscale modern atmosphere. Our party of four enjoyed a burger, pasta, salad with perfectly grilled salmon, and a goat cheese mushroom pizza. All were very good and beautifully presented. The Bauer Kitchen also specializes in craft cocktails and has a creative (if slightly pricey) wine list. I really enjoyed a local Niagara Chardonnay... Crisp, more French than American in style. Our fourth or fifth visit, and we'll go back again.
Everything was great especially the mushroom pizza, except it was my girlfriends birthday and we didn’t get a cake when I stated it was a special occasion.
Food was boring and tasteless. Unfortunate because service & location are nice.
Great food and even better service!!
The baked cheese app was awesome!!
Very good. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Server was awesome.
Very nice ambiance, overall menu very nice. We would return, but believe there was a breakdown in their service this particular evening. My wife's salmon dinner looked fantastic, but the files was two thirds very undercooked. We showed our server, and it's like they completely avoided the issue. No offer of anything, not even a discounted price for a $31 plate. If there was any supervision on staff, they definitely did not approach US or the issue.
Very nice place, but if you can't get a piece of salmon right, and I mean raw in the centre, and not offer anything in return, like I said , a bit of a breakdown in how they handle things, yikes! Certainly expected more from a location that looks like this, with above average prices. Too bad on this particular visit.
Management or Ownership presence definitely lacking.
We were annoyed and dissatisfied. We had guests and found the restaurant very noisy and worst of all we waited 45 minutes fervour meal and had to ask why there was such a delay. It was embarrassing.
