Beyond the yellow door, guests enter a space where the past and future mingle. Hallmarks of classic bistro style – a long marble bar, white linens and crystal stemware are mixed with contemporary art, bold colour and an eclectic soundtrack of funk, Motown and disco. Chef Brandon Olsen's cuisine features an extensive raw bar and French classics, executed in a modern style. Our wine list is also primarily French, with some Ontario selections.

We look forward to welcoming you to La Banane.

The quality of the food and overall experience was excellent. Even though we were seated at the bar, the service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant was bustling without making it at all difficult to converse. And the food—from the “low brow” fried chicken to the most perfect omelette I’ve ever eaten to the interesting and delightful cold charred zucchini—was exceptional. Every dish we ordered was a perfect showcase of its ingredients, but without any undue bravado or affectation. Recommended.

I'm a saucy girl and usually I find that restaurants - even French - don't serve enough to last through the meal. I'm always asking for more. This restaurant, however, is the opposite extreme. Food is SWIMMING in sauce and while flavourful, it makes the overall dish sickeningly rich. I also think it's essential with dishes as rich as these ones to include some type of green - it's absolutely needed for balance and expecting the diner to order a side is a rip off. I know this is the trend but it always feels like a gouge.

Had a wonderful time at La Banane! They seated us right in front of the raw bar in a booth, just like i asked. The seafood platters are worth every penny! Got the Petite Plateau $145 - for 2 its enough for a full meal, best to share for at least 3-4. I highly recommend all the seafood. Very fresh and large portions - the oysters were my favourite! The eurobass $42 was cooked very well, but I didn't enjoy the yuzu beurre blanc - it was too acidic and it tasted very floral and it was very salty - its baked with a salted crust however the amount salt was overwhelming, it made it hard to finish. The pommes aligot were creamy and fluffy - Recommend. We finished off with the Banana cake? and salted ice cream - amazing, you have to order this! We also got the box of 9 chocolates, expensive $24 - we splurged. Go for the seafood and the banana cake + ice cream!

Fabulous food... we had the tasting menu in order to try as many dishes as possible. Nothing disappointed! The omelette, something I would not normally order, was phenomenal- light, creamy, delicate mix of herb and egg. A must ! Great sommelier. He knew the wines well and give us n excellent recommendation.

We came here for a birthday celebration. The service was incredible. We splurged on the Ziggy Stardust Disco Egg for dessert and were not disappointed! The fish that comes baked in a puff pastry is to die for. (I forgot the name but ask your server.)

This was our first visit and we weren't disappointed. The service and food were both excellent - a healthy portion of pate with a prune puree was lovely - my husband's crab was a "bit" too salty and my duck a bit too fatty, but still delicious. My one gripe and it is a common one in Toronto is that the wine servings (glass and bottle) are expensive and the glasses are very skimpy. We have been spoiled by our visits to Europe where wine flows freely and it's all excellent. I would like to see a special hour devoted to cheaper wine prices.

We had a great time, we sat at the bar and the service was great. The one item I wouldn’t recommend was their Bibb salad, it was extremely underwhelming. They ended up taking it off the bill. The cocktails were delicious too!

La Banane was amazing from start to finish. The service was impeccable. The food was amazing. We did the tasting menu and were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter chose all our courses and there were many. We chose our own wine to go with our courses which suited us. We were not stuffed which was great , just pleasantly sated. I would go back there again for sure. You should make a reservation and they are fairly busy so don’t leave it til the last minute..

Love La Banane, the food is delicious and beautifully presented. The wait staff have been lovely both times I've been. I definitely recommend though maybe not for every day depending on your budget, it isn't super cheap. For two people, one appetizer, a bottle of wine, two main courses, a side dish and a dessert was about 200 before tip, but in my opinion well worth it

Food was excellent through all courses without a misstep. Highlight was the Albacore tuna with brown butter - wonderfully rich but balanced out with the acidic capers. Fantastic, if pricey, wine recommendation that helped elevate the meal.
Overall an exceptional spot for a celebration.

This is a great little restaurant with a lot of pleasant surprises. The food was exceptional starting with the staff's and the chef's understanding of quality, and the time and care they took to make sure it was prepared and presented at its optimum, all adding to a great dining experience. I liked the serving sizes; made for sharing and giving you an option to try more than one menu item.

Second time coming. Really very good. We had the mini plateau between 3 people and then 4 appetizers to share. The albacore tuna is amazing. I have had this twice and still good. We finished ally tried the Disco Egg! Very unique and good dark chocolate. Just a bit miffed they don’t offer decal espresso or decaf coffee.

We were only 2 people, so limited in how much we could eat without going over. We had their seafood platter, which was amazing. Everything tasted so fresh! Cocktails were great as well.
For a special occasion, we had the disco egg - it's pretty big and great presentation! Truffles/chocolates inside were delicious. Enough to just try once.
We would like to return to try other items on the menu.
