As always Forage has the best and most creative dishes you will find in Vancouver. My personal fav is the chowder but all the dishes are lovely. They didn't have their grilled kale salad on the menu yet (it comes around in the winter) but other than that, this exceeded our expectations.
Very good food and service. More expensive than I'm used to, but it is delicious. Would come again for a special occasion.
Place is so good, if I was rich I would eat here daily
Delicious and fresh food with a creative twist. I will be back, and recommend Forage as a terrific brunch spot.
We had a wonderful dinner at forage while visiting Vancouver. The food was very good, especially within the constraints of farm-to-table in mid-November British Columbia. Service was excellent - our waiter explained every component of every dish to us, and knowledgeably answered questions about the food and wine menus.
Two things would take forage over the top and put it inline with some of the 1 Michelin star places I've been to: 1) get rid of the TVs! These make an otherwise beautifully designed restaurant feel like a sports bar! Even though they show some lovely pictures of forage's better dishes, I don't want to see this on a TV - I want to be happily surprised when you serve it to me! 2) Tone down the sugar in your desserts, like by half. The desserts had so much potential for interesting taste pairings (gin/blueberries/cream cheese?! elderflower/blueberries/chocolate?!) but all that came through was SUGARY.
Finally tried Forage and was pleasantly surprised. Very well executed dishes that sounded great on paper and were even better on the plate. We had all the vegetarian options and liked the balanced of flavours. Also very much liked that the chef does not shy away from butter. Very nice BC only wine list, which had some great boutique wineries represented. Great wait staff that happily brought me another glass of wine when I made a mistake ordering. Only thing we weren't a big fan of was the closeness of the tables, where you really can hear more or less everything your neighbour is talking about.
Online booking was ideal as we got a desired corner table. Service was excellent, very attentive server who checked in frequently with us to ensure all was well. Menu selection was very limited and servings were small. Food wasn't particularly outstanding to rave but was nicely presented. We were visiting from Victoria BC.
A very good halibut. Very fresh and well cooked with a refined sauce and good fresh vegetables. I recommend for foodies. Excellent locavore restaurant.
Delicious local food, beautifully prepared. Chef was able to made adjustments for a vegan diet.
Perfect brunch spot. It is a bit loud, but that can't really be helped. Coffee was okay, but the food is excellent! Great service. It's my current fave breakfast and brunch place.
Eggs benedict was amazing! And the eggs were perfectly poached.
Good brunch cocktail menu too, something more than the regular mimosa.
Was our first time and will definitely return!
My absolute favourite place for breakfast!!!
Amazing food, very clean fresh. The mushroom hash was delicious. I would 100% recommend.
Unpretentious, amazing presentation. Great farm to table featuring best of BC. Love how they still describe the dish when it arrives at the table. Absolute gem.
The host was not very welcoming.
While the service was outstanding with one of the best waiters I’ve had in years, the food was average for the price and way over priced.
Unique & wonderful combinations of flavors - we ordered the seafood chowder, mushrooms & goat cheese, the gnocchi & lobster mushrooms (my favorite), beet salad & caraway rye crumbs, green salad, elderflower & fromage frais cheese puff - all excellent. I’d love to return to see what they offer in various seasons.
Amazing Food! Great atmosphere, friendly service. We will definitely be back!
Wonderful presentation of locally-grown ingredients, including alcoholic beverages. Menu, while a little limited, has choices for most tastes. The bison was outstanding. Each dish had a variety of complementary tastes. Service was nicely paced and helpful. We would return on our next visit to Vancouver.
Delicious and fun ambiance with great service. Get the cornbread!
Delicious! And so fresh. We shared four plates, including the wild mushrooms in red-wine reduction with huckleberries (our favorite). Would definitely return next time we're in Vancouver.
Went for a business dinner in the recommendation of a friend. The good: Food was 5 absolutely spectacular and service very good. Not so good: Portions are SMALL! Don’t be fooled that this is moderate price unless you have the appetite of a bird. Tables are very close together (OK for casual, not so much for date night or a private business dinner). If your budget can stand starter plus 2 entrees each go for it... you’re in for a unique feast!
Breakfast menu promising. I had the eggs Benedict which were perfect (soft poached eggs and a hint of vinegar coming through the hollandaise). Barista coffee was good. My server was friendly and helpful.
Fabulous and exiting food, thoroughly recommend this place
I found the price of dishes at this restaurant to be way too expensive for what you get. I've had similar dishes at other restaurants for lower prices. We paid $48 for two small slivers of halibut. That is just not cool.
The food was amazing. Our service was great from all that visited our table-especially our server Cory! His product knowledge and up selling were a great asset to your restaurant.Thank you
Excellent experience!! Food was amazing
The food was spectacular and the service great. We particularly enjoyed the salmon. The chocolate hazelnut cake and the chesse plates we are very good
Forage was good, but I would not go back. It tried too hard to be different with a high end flare. I had ordered the slow cooked salmon and it wasn't what I was expecting at all. Service was great and complimentary dessert since they forgot my friend's soup.
Four of us had a wonderful breakfast here. We were at the end of the service hours for breakfast so within a short time of arriving, there were fewer customers left which made for a very pleasant quieter meal. We had excellent friendly and courteous service, dietary needs easily met (gluten free for one of our party), food was delicious, local, freshly prepared and a little different. The restaurant was very comfortable. I would like to try an evening meal here. We were all very happy with our experience at Forage! Thank you!
Sat in a nice corner. A high seating situation, which is typically not my favorite, but was comfortable. The food was wonderful and the cocktails great. Everything locally sourced including the spirits! Very well informed and attentive wait staff. Had the pork and the gnocchi which were outstanding.
One of the best breakfast meals we have ever had! Great service, clean friendly. A definite must!! Some of the best coffee ever! Would definitely recommend - be sure to make a reservation!!
It was so delicious and enjoyable that I was back the next day!
Brunch was bomb!!! Would def recommend to anyone that loves good food and great service!
Fantastic find! Brent was a fabulous server as well. Very knowledgable . Tasty night of locally sourced ingredients...a real gem.
The restaurant appears to be a more upscale, somewhat intimate, farm-to-table restaurant. Generally, if you're talking farm-to-table it's hard to stay away from those other attributes. As we found, Forage managed to be farm-to-table but far from upscale and intimate. Out of the 4 dishes we ordered to share (it's all family style) only one was anywhere close to the quality we expected. Everything else was either underwhelming (our charcuterie board was very unexciting), too cold (in the case of our pork), or generally unappetizing (our salad was far too earthy and spicy to enjoy). The cocktails too were very sad, just really not well made drinks. Save the cornbread, nothing was worth the price in terms of quality or presentation.
The restaurant was very loud although not super full, and we were seated practically on top of the couple at the table beside us due to how close the seating was set up. The washrooms were located in another building and to completely kill the ambience, there were TV screens in the restaurant showing slideshows of food that looked MUCH better than what we received. It was these things that really cheapened and ultimately sullied our experience. Definitely not the right place for the nice date night we were hoping for.
The service was friendly and fairly attentive.
Went there for Brunch. Food is really good. I got eggs sunny side with turkey sausages and Bacon. Service was nice. We spent nice time with friends there.
My fave restaurant in Vancouver, never disappoints! Thanks to the entire team at Forage for always taking such good care of me.
Best food, best service, best spot for food in west end! Brent was amazing
