Good food with great service! Always a good time. Server was very humorous with great attention to the details.
Celebrated my partner’s birthday @ Joe Fortes last week. Staff are professional and engaging. JF is known for their high quality food so just go with your heart.
petit filet mignon (6oz)
Salmon Wellington (which they ran out for the night). So we switched to Braised Lamb Shank and with surprise, they added a $40 discount to subsidize the entree cost as a form of compensation I guess.
Miso marinated sablefish - a delicate fish but they handled it well
Dessert: 6 x happy 88 oysters because they didn’t have the 12 Fanny Bay we ordered initially. BUT! We are very happy with the oyster we got.
A fruity cocktail
A bottle of Road 13
A pint of Granville island pale ale
It was a good date night out. However my boyfriend had oil spilt on him and his steak was medium rare not medium well. It was unfortunate and they didn’t offer to fix or re cook the steak.
We had an amazing time during our visit - flawless execution by both kitchen and service team.
Everything was perfect, it is nice to go to a restaurant that understands that the food isn’t its defining element. The care and personal touches from the staff bring it to another level, many restaurants seem to forget this which is strange seeing that we have tip culture in North America
Excellent food and service! Love the atmosphere too!
Fantastic service and amazing food as always.
Amazing seafood, cooked perfectly! Enjoyed the atmosphere and service.
We always have such a great time at joe fortes! The food is delicious. The service is always great and the ambiance is perfect!
Fantastic. Always 1st choice with the family.
The service at Joe Forte's was awesome and the food was amazing!
Joe Fortes is akin to finding a thick blanket that you've always loved wrapping yourself in to get warm. The atmosphere is welcoming, the drinks are hearty and the food is tasty.
Another excellent meal great waiters and terriffic atmosphere
Celebrating a couple of birthdays
a little noisy for those hard of hearing
great service and selection on the menu
3 course meal was great value
good wine selection
Grand place (but with prices to match) with good food and atmosphere and great service. Can't afford to go often, but for special occasions.....
I have been to Joe Fortes regularly over the years, but not lately. The noise level is very high, and the pounding piano player made it worse. Prices have been raised through the roof. Only good as an expense account meal where you don’t mind yelling at your colleagues to be heard.
Loved our waitress!
The west coast platter is everything I wanted it to be and more. Seafood lovers will be in heaven. The service was the best I’ve ever had and the waiter went above and beyond what is expected from quality wait staff. Can’t wait to come back!
For the first time, I chose the fixed 3 course menu and was extremely pleased with the quality, flavor and value. There was no scrimping by the chef and the service was outstanding as usual. I was quite pleased with the choice and would recommend the fixed menu to anyone.
This was the first time we tried brunch here. My brother recommended it as it was Benny Bonanza. I opted for the 3 course meal with the soup and dessert. The chowder which I usually love was kinda runny and grainy at the same time... bland in flavour. We then proceeded to wait a very long time for our meals. When we finally was able to make eye contact with the waiter... he disappeared and came to our table saying our food was being plated... we said we waited a long time...his remark...it’s very busy cuz it’s Benny bonanza . We looked around... there’s empty tables and the upstairs was maybe half full. Another 12 minutes goes by we finally get our food. I was kinda disappointed... I took a picture of my plate and compared it with a picture my brother had sent me... what a difference. The English muffin was kinda hard and tough to cut thru. Flavour wasn’t bad... but temperature of food could of been hotter. All in all... It wasn’t the best first brunch experience. I’ll stick to dinners here!
A friend and I came for brunch and had the eggs Benny. We each ordered a different one (corned beef and fried chicken) and split them so we could have 2 different kinds. They were both delicious, especially the fried chicken breast one. It had a crispy coating with a hint of sriracha, while remaining nice and moist inside. The addictive hash browns were deep fried and accompanied with strings of caramelized onions. I highly recommend it!
Fortes is a legendary Vancouver rest. that always consistently delivers. This visit was no exception.
Very fun s
Our waitress was the worst, but I usually have great service and the food is delicious
Friendly staff, great food selection, creme brulee on the house for our anniversary.
The waiter was really good! It was a little expensive
Awesome staff. Very attentive
Sunday brunch Benny specials were awesome. The service is so superior to other places. I return again and again.
We enjoyed the food as always. We went there as a group of 8 and shared some dishes. However, it was sometimes difficult to ask for extra plates, because the server was somewhat reluctant to give us those.
There were no ceiling or wall lighting, so it was too dark. We had to ask for an extra candle and the server told me to use a flashlight function in my smart phone to read the menu. This is not right.
Ambiance is important but there should be enough lighting to at least read whats on the menu.
The service was unbelievably good and the food was spectacular. Had a Canada wine recommendation and we loved it
The Service was excellent however the food was mediocre to say the least... It certainy has gone down hill in the past few years which is a real shame...
Either this place has gone way downhill or my expectations have gotten higher. I remember I used to love Joe Fortes but $86 before tip for half an appy, a drink, a mediocre entrée and dessert (one person!) did not leave me with a good taste in my mouth.
Besides our excellent server, the crab and corn fritters were probably the only other redeeming thing.
I usually love halibut cheeks and was excited to have them since they don’t often show up on a menu—but $38 for something I can prepare better at home was super disappointing. The chocolate cake was meh (honestly, White Spot’s is better).
I think Joe’s is better left for the >50 crowd who don’t like to venture far from their “usual”. Vancouver has so many amazing fine dining restaurants now—we are a bit spoiled. I ate at Nightingale earlier this week and spent less while being 10x more impressed with the food!
Will probably only ever be back for a patio brunch in the summer or happy hour oysters at the bar.
This was a special occasion. My sister-in-law who is 85 wanted to take her brother and I to Joe Fortes to celebrate our birthdays - she had never been. We were most impressed with the service - due to mobility issues we were originally seated in the bar area - when we asked if it was possible to move, we were treated very well and moved to a booth. It was fun to people watch from the quiet of our table.
Our server was fantastic and the food was amazing.
From the valet to the hostesses, the servers, and support staff absolute perfection! There is a reason why Joe Fortes has been around for years! One of Vancouver's best dining experience!
We got there way ahead of our reservation. So we were seated at the bar. When our table was ready we decided stay at the bar cause our server was really good. With my wife being gluten intolerant Taylor our server was extremely helpful and worked with the kitchen to accommodate. Every dish we ordered, including the extra appetizer was awesome. Seeing the dishes being served to other patrons also looked fantastic. The restaurant has a great, energetic atmosphere with a staff that knows how to take care of the customer. Looking forward to going back!
Some of the best lobster bisque! Enjoyed the oysters, onion rings & ahi tuna. Unfortunately, the snow crabs just weren’t that good...seemed dry without much flavor. In the interest of full disclosure, I believe the server tried to steer me away from this selection
The miso swordfish and the trio special were outstanding. Impeccable service !
Despite being very busy, the food and service were excellent.
It was my first time going to this restaurant. My co workers has recommended me to go here. Honestly, the customer service was very good and very heart warming! The food was VERY DELICIOUS! Worth every penny and the portion was big, but again, worth it !
Our family went to try the Benny specials and celebrate a birthday. The food was very good! Also had live piano music. Thank you for the dessert as well! We will be back soon.
