Ristorante Piccirilli Ratings and Reviews
Best meat sauce!!
This was our first visit, and we will likely come back. The service was excellent and the food was good. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night and were surprised that the place was not at all crowded. Normally this might be cause for concern...but not in this case. The atmosphere is dark and cozy...although some may view the décor a bit dated. I happened to like the atmosphere because it felt nostalgic.
Overall...very pleasant dining experience.
Christmas dinner with family and friends. Always enjoy the food and service!
Food portions were small for price.
The restaurant was very nice the waiter was fine. We go to the restaurant about 5 times a year, at Christmas we always bring 8 friends for dinner it has always been great food. This year we were very disappointed with the food, not one of the dishes were good. The veal was tuff not much if it on the plate and What Italian restaurant serves cabbage as a vegetable. Two of us had rollata it was very dry and you could see grill marks on it like it was reheated. The veal Parmesan was also dry. After waiting about 50 min to an hour for the food it was all lukewarm. Not a good experience. Everyone said we have to start looking for a new restaurant to go. We were all very disappointed hopefully you can correct some of the problems in the kitchen.
Great service with a great wine list, varied menu for all tastes at a very reasonable price. One of my favorite places to eat.
Very slow service (we were there for 2 hrs) and food was pricy for the amount that you get.
Piccirilli’s was a favorite spot when we last lived in MI 18 years ago. We went recently after moving back to the area and it was wonderful. Friendly service, the food is as good as ever and it was great to see the same owner still greeting each table in the restaurant.
piccirili is still our local favorite and look forward to visiting again soon.
Pleasant place, quiet usually. Good food. The owner is very pleasant.
The food was awesome the waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting
Excellent dining experience and exceptional service!
We love the atmosphere there. There are some unique items on the menu, especially the Rolanda. The appetizer plate could of had more vegetables on it. The martinis were a bit puny. The pasta was a bit salty. But otherwise, it was a delightful meal.
Ambience was very nice. The food was delicious. Done exactly to order. We were there for an early dinner. Unfortunately, we had a sour server. He didn't engage with us at all. We tried our best to lighten him up but to no avail. I took away another star away for never checking after serving us. We were his only table. The other two servers were very friendly with their customers. We will go back.
Food was really good and prices were very reasonable. The place is old and tired but has a nice charm to it. Haven't been there in years but will return often we really liked it,
Not great. Will not be back.
They have such great Italian, especially the pasta. Service on Mothers Day was excellent.
Excellent Italian food. Umberto is a wonderful host. We take family and visitors there when possible. Great wine selection!
Excellent food although could use more variety in specials.
Tasty food with excellent service. Ambiance is nice with the noise at a nice, not over-powering level.
We went there to be served table side. They cooked our food in back and plated it in front of us. Not what was advertised.
Service was terrible. We had to keep flagging the waiter over to our table and he didn't seem to be familiar with the menu or specials. He told us an item wasn't available when it was right on the menu. He never came by to ask if we wanted another cocktail - again, we had to flag him down. We had a party of seven and when we requested three separate checks, he said he couldn't do it because we didn't tell him when he took our orders - even tho he never asked. The manager came by and was very rude and told us the same thing. After arguing, they finally agreed but said it would take a while. One of the people in our party ordered a name brand Vodka and it definitely was not - although they charged him for it. We will never go back.
I decided to try this restaurant on the spur of the moment based on a suggestion from Open Table. While it was a bit of a drive from my house, I figured that the previous reviews made it worth trying. The minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome and the ambience and fireplace made the restaurant very attractive. The food was classic Italian done well and everything came to the table hot. I especially enjoyed the calamari appetizer which was crisp, not overly bread calamari that were not overcooked and rubbery.
First time there. Stephanie was our waitress. Did a great job! Will be back for sure. Thank You
I am from Chicago and used to excellent Italian food and man was I surprised by this place. Excellent ambiance and the chicken parm and tortillini were both amazing. Price is excellent. Overall very satisfied and will definitely eat here again.
Veal Marsala was awesome. Loved attention to details including imported Italian heart shaped ravioli for Valentines weekend which were delicious as well. Owner was working the floor-told is they'd been there 30years. Sorry I've been missing out but no longer..we'll be back soon.
Very well prepared pasta dishes. Really enjoyed the Caesar Salad. Never felt rushed, owner showed he cared. Felt like we were friends even though it was our first time there.
This was our first visit. Hostess was very nice and seemed happy to welcome us . Wonderful table next to the beautiful fireplace. I think it was the owner, he camed by and welcomed us as well. Great waiter , very attentive without crowding us. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was very good. I would go back and refer. Nice for a couples get toegether or a date.
I have been going here for at least 30 years when I was in high school. I have since introduced my husband and daughter to it. We live on the other side of town but it is destination dining. Umberto's table-side Caesar salad alone is worth the trip. Their pasta puttanesca is excellent. My mother had a veal special that I would go back for in a minute! This is relaxed dining; you could come in for a regular dinner or you could sit and dine for hours...a very comfortable atmosphere. Portion sizes are satisfying, allowing you to enjoy maybe more than one course without feeling like a glutton or forcing you to leave with a doggy bag (more like you would expect in Italy). Umberto, the owner, seems to always be there and always plays an active role. Everytime, we leave here satisfied, relaxed and happy.
It started off disappointing. We were sat and waited 8 minutes for someone to even come to us. You could tell the server was never told she had a table. There were about 4 other tables there and one was talking so loud, it was like she was sitting right next to us telling her story. And she was across the restaurant.
We came for our 8year anniversary, and Stephanie was our server and she turned the experience around and made it so much better.
We've never been there before, we live in Saint Clair shores area and we were out that way planning our wedding and they were top 2 places when I looked up a place to eat.
We will definitely come back with our family.
The lasagna was the best dish I've ever had anywhere.
Best kept restaurant secret in Shelby Township. Great atmosphere; good food; friendly service; and quiet enough to hold a table conversation, but not so quiet that you felt like you were in a library.
Authentic and fresh Italian dining. Love the food and the service!
All of the food and the service were very good. The only negative I had was my cocktail from the bar. The bartender did not know how to make a good Manhattan.
We love to eat here and almost every time we leave we say...why don't we come here more often. Have never had a bad meal and are always treated like family. Watched the owner make Steak Diane table side tonight -- All I can say is Wow, you just don't see that very many places -- and don't get me started on the table side Caesar - AWESOME!!
Food and Service were great owner is very attentive and warm and friendly overall great
It was mine and my love's first time coming here. I loved that it was very romantic, it had such a pretty fireplace that we got a chance to sit by. This was a Saturday night, and they were not too busy when we walked in, but then it started getting more busy after 7. I had made reservations a couple days prior but when I walked in, I don't think reservations were necessary, we would have been seated right away. I did notice that there were not many young couples, if any. It was mostly older people. It was actually a great experience for me and my love since we are in our 20's, we saw how much different it was being around a romantic place without many people our age. Overall it was a very nice restaurant with great food and atmosphere. Everyone was very nice and helpful and we will definitely be returning. That chicken marsala was absolutely delicious and you can tell their food is very fresh. My love kept raving about the salmon dish he had. Don't even get me started with that fresh parmesan cheese they place on the table when you first have a seat, we could not stop putting it on everything!
I brought my fiancé here for his birthday. Beautiful restaurant with lovely decor and roaring fireplace made for a romantic atmosphere. The owner was charming and the waiter was very attentive and sweet.
The food was very good. I would definitely come here again.
Went Sunday of Valentines day weekend. The calamari was cold and greasy. The wine selection by the glass was non existent. They had one brand only. The entrées were Luke warm at best. The service was poor and the serving etiquette was also poor.
food was amazing! service was soso, it was valentines day and they did not plan well for it. understaffed, but food was amazing especially the tableside ceasar made fresh in front of you.
The only reason I gave this place a 3 star rating is for the ambiance. We had a reservation for 7:15 and still had to wait about 15 minutes for us to be seated. I looked past that since it was the day before valentines day and it was busy. The food was close to horrible. Mine was barely warm and tasted as if it had sat under a warming lamp while they finished my husbands food. It was also a pretty small portion and was by far nothing special. We were seated close to the fireplace which was very nice and romantic so that was what made the dinner bearable and the reason for the 3 stars. The staff was also very friendly, just slightly slow.
