Loved getting to experience all that their garden has to offer in the summer.
Everything was amazing! Tasting menu is such a great adventure, one amazing surprise after another :) Took our 16 year old for an unforgettable birthday dinner - still talking about it. Will be back again as soon as possible!
Rouge rarely disappoints. I often host both social and business lunches there because the food is almost always excellent, the service is great, and it is possible to have a conversation. Located in an lovely old house with small rooms, it feels elegant with linen tablecloths and napkins, monogrammed silverware, and polished serving staff, and the garden patio is gorgeous in the summer months. Rouge is situated in a pretty, quiet spot which affords quick access to a major road and free parking is usually available at a lot across the street. Rouge at lunch provides a little luxury at a reasonable price.
Excellent service, perfect ambiance for a great dinner chat, food very tasty and well presented
Our server was awesome, I would have liked a table not in view of the people coming in the front door, it wasn't that full. The food, as always, is fantastic. Full of explosions of flavor and little surprises and it always is friendly and welcoming.
Really amazing food, we tried a variety of things and they were all fantastic. It's beautiful and quiet with a bit of that old-world charm. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Awesome wait staff and food
The lamb tenderloin was the best I have EVER had--and I've eaten a lot of lamb over the years.
A wonderful, high-class dining experience. Service and food were superb, really can't recommend it more highly.
The food was delicious. However, the waiter we had was not very impressive - took much talking with his "Italian" accent AND the service was slow, and sloppy.
Beautiful setting and the food was Fabulous! We would certainly go again.
The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. We come here every year for our anniversary and are never disappointed
Overall, an average experience. After hearing about how great it as, it disappointed a bit. Food was good, menu full of safe choices, great in list. Ambiance disappointing as we sat in the tent out back (had a spider crawl up the tablecloth on to the table). I think there are more interesting places for this price point.
If someone invited me back, I would go but would not make a point of returning.
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere
Food taste was not outstanding. Open air seating in patio was good. Amount of vegetable amount was less thane expected.
We all decided on the feature 3 course special - it was outstanding. One of the party had allergies and the chef accommodated with excellent alternatives. Will definitely go back to Rouge - always consistent in terms of food, service, atmosphere and overall quality of ingredients.
The six course tasting menu was outstanding! A must try if you can. Each course was perfectly portioned so you leave full.
The outdoor patio is a must. To be able to walk through the garden between courses with a glass of wine was magical.
Great experience over all! the anniversary card with all their signatures on it was a great touch! I love the farm to plate concept, The food and service was exceptional! Would recommend them to anyone.
Overall the food was good, when served appetizers though the big sticker left on the tomato was a bit of a turnoff and killed the mood for the rest of the night though, there was no follow up or mention of this from the staff from there on out
Awesome from the moment we arrived!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff.... atmosphere was super garden table with peaceful relaxing nicely paced service. Food was spectacular as was its presentation. Waiter was attentive and friendly with out being part of the celebration!
A must when you visit Calgary!
Amazing food, beautiful presentation, professional and friendly service, cozy atmosphere.
Great place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!
Good service and good food, however the food and drinks are too expensive. Not sure we would ever go back as it was very difficult to find nearby parking, and the cost of the meal and drinks is not justified.
Food was good, but not outstanding. Excellent presentation. Service was okay but not great -the restaurant wasn’t busy so the service could have been better.
Quiet and great food
The duck confit was outstanding and the Americano excellent. Fabulous lunch. Thank you!
Should advise patrons they can park across the street in the private, reserved lot.
In an old house, the rooms are sparsely decorated w art. Walls and wood floor cause a lot of reverberation and, unfortunately, we were seated in a room with a cackling group of 4 trying continually to best each other in laugh volume. First wine ordered from the list was not available. Second wine was excellent, a young 2015 Gevrey lieux dits from Roy, served a bit warm. Food was simple but fresh—charcuterie plate could have used some mustard but was delicious though the pickled carrots were barely pickled. Wife’s tortellini see pretty simple. My smoked wild boar loin was ok, not real tender or flavorful. Agnolotti were a bit heavy. Bread and butter were excellent after we got some colder butter. It’s a solid restaurant and I’d give it another try.
Excellent service and the meal. Some men indicate that the portions are small but just 3 women in our group we were fine and also added dessert!
Great service. Excellent food. Wonderful evening.
The food was amazing
The most amazing night I’ve had a long time. Thank you!
I was here with my girlfriend for her birthday dinner. We ordered the 6 course chef's tasting menu for $110/each. The courses were Beef Carpaccio, Barley Risotto, Foie Gras, Sirloin steak, a cheese course, and a dessert course. Although each of the courses was plated beautifully, we felt that the quality and quantity was not up to par of tasting menus of places like River Cafe or Workshop Kitchen+Culture.
Each of the courses, tasted fine but there was nothing really special about them. 5/6 of the courses were directly from the menu, so there was nothing extraordinary about ordering the tasting menu. We felt that a tasting menu should show a unique appreciation for the restaurant's creativeness. The Risotto and Steak especially were lackluster and tasted similar to something we would be served at Milestones.
If you want Carpaccio, go to Bread and Circus, if you want Risotto, go to Rea's or Cibo, if you want Steak, go to Vintage or Hy's. Rouge doesn't do anything particularly well and we would advise you not to blow a huge amount of money here when you could enjoy two meals at the above restaurants.
Excellent lunch as usual.
We try to go every year for our Anniversary, the chefs menu is absolutely the best!
A friend recommended this place 3 years ago. Finally made it back to Calgary and took the plunge. It was an amazing experience. Food was just amazing. My wife and the wild boar and was blown away. I chose the Alberta beef, and it was over the top. Can’t wait to get back to Calgary and there again. A definite must for anyone looking to try great food.
Superb meal on the summer patio. Party of 6, everyone thoroughly enjoyed and raved about their meals. Service was outstanding - very friendly and accommodating, some of the best in Calgary. Food fantastic, incredible menu. They gave us a few unexpected and complimentary appetizers etc. Perfect portion sizes. We all loved it. They were able to accommodate gluten free and dairy free.
It was a wonderful experience for my daughter’s graduation.
A returning customer has higher expectations than a newbie. While I haven't been to Rouge in a while, it felt like I was just there last week. My wife and I shared the Grilled Asparagus to start, which we both quite enjoyed. Thought the combination of parmesan custard, asparagus, and radish may fight nastily on my tongue but was pleasantly surprised. I had the Pan-Seared Halibut with the Spring Vegetable Fricassee, Crème Fraîche, Herb Chimichurri… frikkin’ awesome! The Halibut was cooked to so well I never picked up my knife once. My wife had the Alberta Lamb Sirloin which was also wonderful. Kind of wished I didn't have a late lunch and hadmore room for more... :)
