Amazing! Great staff and great food
We did the chefs tasting with the wine pairing... the server was great and informative.. lovely meal... I would have prefer to be in a more intimate setting thou
There are a lot of great restaurants in Calgary, but few stand above others. Rouge is a gem that has never disappointed. They take locally sourced ingredients to unique and vibrant dishes that are just as creative and colorful as any on the world stage. Every time we've gone, we've done the tasting menu, which we typically do when offered at any Michelin Star restaurant. Rouge creations are at the same level showing technique and creativity. If you haven't tried it, definitely set an evening aside to do the tasting menu and wine pairing as very few can do it at that caliber.
Great place still but the food isn’t quite up to the standard of a few years ago.
Thé food was amazing! But the service is a whole other experience. Too bad...
Food outstanding, service amazing. Value for money was not there.
Tasting menu for Valentines Day was okay. I am sure if you could order off the menu it would be much better. Overpriced for what you got, especially 4 very small pieces of steak as an entree.
We'll be back!
Food and wine was amazing!
Service was excellent but the food was tasteless and small- super small portions. The $48 tenderloin was maybe 4oz and the short rib had no taste to it although it was cooked well.
Won’t be returning.
We had the
Chefs Tasting Menu, and we were very disappointed in the food. We were pleasant and did not complain as the food was cooked properly but we just did not enjoy the tastes, but our waitress seemed personally offended that we didn't finish every plate.
Very little to no parking. I assume that’s why the restaurant was dead.
My girlfriend had wanted to try Rouge for a while as it is nearby and she had heard good things about it. So for her birthday we booked a date night.
The setting is perfect for a date night. With several smaller rooms it is intimate and great for quiet conversation.
Service was prompt and friendly. We were never waiting for service, nor were we interrupted by the server when we didn’t need anything.
Food was outstanding. We had ate light all day, as we intended to enjoy a good dinner. We had the seared beef tenderloin with mushroom barley and it was perfect. It could’ve been cut with a knife it was so tender, pink throughout. Perfect. For dessert, she had the Canadian Cheese plate while I had the s’more. Both were absolutely delicious.
We will definitely come back and recommend Rouge to our friends!
Unique flavourful dishes - as expected from a quality restaurant. Lovely setting in a character house. Too bad city is tearing up the road in front.
Everything was very good, however the food was not spectacular this time. May have just been what we ordered didn’t align with our expectations as I love this restaurant
I can't really make a recommendation because when we went they told us that we couldn't dine there that night because of a water issue they had. It was our 5 year anniversary and we are looking forward to going there, but unfortunately we had to go somewhere else. When we arrived, they had said that they contacted us, but we never got a phone call about the cancellation. We did get an email, but we got it late. Hopefully everything is fixed down there. We'll have to try again another time.
We tried the chef menu and it was very tasty. Portions were good, not too much and not too little. Good balance and interesting focus on regional ingredients. Overall, the dinner was very good. Will come again!
Brilliant evening, great service with perfect light touch. Food exquisite. Wine list splendid.
Always a wonderful experience. Their attention to detail really makes a difference.
Very difficult to hear--service was mechanical and lacked any personal warmth. Food was average--nothing exceptional for the cost.
Outstanding marriage of textures and flavours! Lovely wait staff and ambiance. A new favourite!
We were over from the UK and looking for a special venue for our anniversary. Rouge didn’t disappoint.
Our host was very friendly and attentive without being invasive. He was very knowledgeable and happy to discuss both the food and the wine pairing in depth.
The tasting menu was fantastic and creative with the portion sizes enough over the six courses to leave you fully satiated. The wine pairing was a great accompaniment with the Fois Gras/Riesling and Cheese and Honeycomb/Amontillado Jerez (blended with Pedro Ximenez) pairings a highlight.
Happy Anniversary message on the desert plate was a nice touch from Rouge too.
Rouge is located in an a historic setting with each room well decorated and not overly filled with tables.
Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend Rouge. We hope to come back in the future.
New Years Eve with the Chefs tasting menu. Great food and service. We had things we would never otherwise would have tried and it was great. Excellent flavour and served to perfection. Everything would have been 5*, however we were on the second floor and the dining room was freezing cold. They gave another table blankets and another couple asked to change tables away from the window. In the future, we will request a main floor table.
Happy New Year!!
Food and ambience is just as expected - spectacular. Service was warm and on time. We came here for my wife’s birthday and they surprised her with a nice signed card, which was really nice.
We would come back again but be more cautious of their dairy uses since my wife’s food may have come into contact with dairy and she had an allergic reaction to it. They were aware of her allergies when we ordered.
Last year, the food was delicious. Last nigh our food were ok. Main entree was warm and overall it wasn't the same like we got before :(
This was the second time I had taken my wife here. The first time was a couple of years ago, and the food was spectacular. This time unfortunately both our meals were just ok. For the price...I was certainly expecting more. We both agreed we could have made made both of our meals at home at the same quality or better, for half the price.
The restaurant was not busy at all. It was a Sunday evening at 6pm. The sauce that came with my bison cheeks had dried around the edges, meaning it had sat for some time under some heating element. Both our meals lacked salt, the bison cheeks were quite flavourless, and tasted like beef that needed seasoning. I will never understand why “high end” restaurants refuse to put salt and pepper out on the tables....like it would be an insult to the chef if you were to add anything more to their “perfectly”cooked meal.
I am a simple welder, more than happy with a nicely cooked T-bone. But I am more than happy to pay more for better quality grub. This was a pedestrian effort at best. Most definitely not worth the $200+ that I paid. Both times we have been to Rouge were during the winter months, one was great, this one bad.... so we agreed to give this restaurant one more shot this summer. Certainly hoping for better next time.
Great service and terrible intelligent food. Try the on a cotta desert!
Very friendly lively pro-active staff appeared always on time. Love the sense of tasting menu and painting on the wall. Just was bit annoyed by noise from the guests in another room.
Definitely it's the perfect place before or after jazz bar in Inglewood.
We had a family dinner/celebration here this past weekend and we were again delighted with the service, the ambiance and especially the food. Everything was delicious - they handled an allergy very well and made our evening very special. This is our favourite place for special occasions and we will return.
The noise was from a large group in the next room.
Great food, great service, very helpful with wine pairings, and lovely ambience.
Me and a few of my colleagues went for dinner as a little Christmas celebration. I loved the atmosphere! Our server did a fantastic job of recommending the perfect wine. All the food was on point! So flavourful and delishes! I’m excited to go back again!
Enjoyed the BEST fish and chips that I’ve every had. I don’t know what they did that was different, but the batter and fish were delicious. The chips were done a little differently but they were also delicious.
Excellent food and great service; our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and wine selection. A great dining experience for those special occasions.
The food was wonderful, just as we expected it would be. The decor too is as expected for an historic building in Inglewood. Service was very attentive, but not over-bearing. A perfect spot for @ special occasion. Would definitely recommend.
Wonderful food and service. So enjoyed the "chef's choice". Highly recommend.
Menu was great, food was delicious and reasonably priced, the service was really friendly and very prompt. The decor left something to be desired however, I would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend or to come back again!
Fabulous as always! Food atmosphere and service. A special place to dine but still a casual atmosphere!!
We went to Rouge for my son's birthday and the staff were wonderful - providing a birthday card for my son as well as a "sparkler" on his dessert. I have been to Rouge for lunch (it is also amazing), but the varieties of the dinner meal was tremendous. I want to go back and celebrate an anniversary with my husband in December.
It is in a nice old house in Inglewood. It was a very quiet night so difficult to comment on ambience. Food was fine but not as exceptional as the restaurant's reputation might suggest.
