    Great place, excellent food. Menu was a little “meat” heavy, but the meals actually had a good balance of vegetables. Would prefer some options to substitute pork for a veggie option.

    Our dinner at Roux was amazing! I had the Arctic Char, and my friends had the Cat Fish. Both dishes were delicious, as was the starters of Mac n Cheese balls, and the cornbread (divine!) The cocktails were delicious, and quite affordable, considering the typical price of a drink in Toronto. The service was great, and I particularly love that I can walk from my house to here. Great restaurant in the hood!

    There is nothing better than going to a restaurant with no expectations and being delighted with everything you are served. My husband was in the mood for spicy food so I searched open table for some possibilities and landed on Roux. The food was excellent. Not knowing how big the portions would be we split an order of mussels in white wine sauce as an appetizer. While sharable, we could have each had something as it wasn't overly large. I had the special which was Arctic Char - it was perfectly cooked and delicious. My husband had the jambalaya, which was spicy and exactly what he was craving. For dessert we shared an order of waffles with ice cream. Those were the best damn waffles I have ever eaten and I'm still thinking about them days later. We will definitely go back. There was a lot on the menu that looked great.

    A wonderful dining experience! Dishes are exquisitely prepared and presented, from appetizers to entrees to desserts. There's a good selection of wines and other alcohol. The server was attentive and gracious and the ambiance is pleasant, with tasteful music and lighting, so you can enjoy your conversation. I'm looking forward to bringing friends here to savour the Creole dishes, as well as the variety of other dishes offered.

    I booked this restaurant for New Year's eve through Open Table. I checked the website and found many attractive items on it that both my wife and I could eat. They purport to be Cajun style, and since we've been to New Orleans, we very much enjoy that type of food. My wife has several allergies, but the menu had enough items that were attractive to us. And I was particularly interested in the jambalaya. So, on New years Eve, we drove to the restaurant from our home in Newmarket, a distance of 85 km one way and 1 1/4 hours. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere interesting. Unfortunately, with no mention of this on their website, they gave us a fixed price menu for the meal, a choice of 3 beginnings, 3 mains, and 3 deserts. For the mains, for example, one choice was a short rib with "apple puree flavouring. My wife is allergic to apples. The second choice was something with shrimp and seafood. My wife is allergic to that. The third choice was a vegan dish with more objectionable ingredients which neither of us like. Frankly, I did not drive all that way to eat vegetables. The only wine listed was a red for $130.00 a bottle. Glasses of wine were not available for purchase. Again, my wife is allergic to red wine, and I was allergic to the price. The waiter was unable to (or refused to) give us anything from their regular menu. So, after driving all that way, we were forced to leave, going out into an unfamiliar neighborhood to look for another restaurant that had space for use. We wound up at the Lakeview Diner, where we had a very satisfying, non allergic dinner. In all fairness, I can't comment on the quality of the food, as we could not eat there. Had the restaurant put on their website either that they had a special New years menu, or if they had published such a menu, we simply would not have gone there. This was a special occasion for us, and we certainly don't drive nearly 200km round trip just for dinner. Very dissapointed.

    Something has changed. Both the food and service were below what we have experienced in the past. Server was pleasant but relatively inattentive even though the place was only half full. Watched the bartender make a cocktail by pouring each of three ingredients into a cocktail glass over ice-no shaking no stirring. Both drinks and food came out in increments - meaning some of us had food and/or drink while others were still waiting. The food itself was fine. A real meh experience. Sadly don't think we will be back.

    We have been to your establishment once, which led us to suggest to some friends that we dine there. The ambience was comfortable and the food was very good. We have been to New Orleans and I found the Jambalaya to be just as tasty. The serving staff was quite pleasant and prices reasonable. Would certainly recommend Roux to friends and expect to enjoy the experience again

    Fantastic. I'm 60 and have a terrible time hearing my friends in restaurants, and we managed quite nicely even though the open kitchen was right behind me. We went on a Thursday night, and found that the table in the back was the perfect place to sit, visit and enjoy our dinner. They were very accommodating - they dimmed the lights at our request (after we read the menu) and were helpful regarding gluten free options on their menu. Specials were interesting, and worth trying (I had the whole fish), but the regular menu was also very appealing. Yummy coffee and dessert. Very casual. Our server was charming and pleasant. Parking good - I got a spot right out front on Dundas. Will return here, and so will my friends. It's going to be our new spot!

    I am guessing that the menu here is closer to "Cajun inspired" rather than slavishly authentic but, no matter, however you describe it the flavours are absolutely delicious and the staff is very attentive. Thank you for an excellent meal, Roux.

    The food was really good except the jambalaya had so much spice to it that you couldn’t taste anything but the spice. The yard bird and waffles were the bomb and the bourbon maple syrup was a nice add. The dessert was great and the service was exceptional. We’ll be back to give this lovely little place another shot at 5 stars all around, hopefully the spice in the jambalaya will be dialed back a bit

    Good food but service was mediocre. Place was empty and server basically ignored us after we finished our food. We were a table of 6 girls catching up and would likely have had another couple mimosas if the server bothered to come back. Kind of pricy for brunch

    The food was really delicious but the service was a tad slow. We had to get the servers attention more than a few times. My friends had to ask for beverages and water before the server even had a chance of offering it first, so they had to wait to grab her attention. She was nice though. Other than that, I would recommend this place because the food is so flavorful with creole style taste. Also, we had a cake and they provided a candle for a birthday and it was really yummy - carrot cake. Thanks a bunch!

    We were very disappointed in the quality of the food served. The daily special omelette was oddly formed and lacking in flavour. It was served with salad greens that included a significant number of pieces that were not just wilted, but blackened and rotting. The brisket hash was very salty. I ate it out of hunger and courtesy to the group I was with, but felt unwell for the rest of the day. The other diners enjoyed their chicken and waffles and the pulled pork benny went un-finished. I didn't get to ask the person who ordered it why. I did notice that they also left a lot of salad on their plate and ate only one of the eggs. The ambiance may be referred to as energetic, but our group found it unpleasantly noisy and making conversation almost impossible. We have been to Roux many times. Our experience on the weekend was the worst. We are unlikely to return.

    Nice dishes, especially seafood. Don’t like that they serve old fashion in small martini glass - learned to ask for low ball... service can be very slow ... but they do take a caring approach. Patio seats in the summer are nice.

    Good things come to those who wait! Most of the complaints I've read about Roux online have been related to service, and while I have no idea how anyone could find their servers rude - they're quite friendly - it takes a while to get your food. That's a good thing, though, because that means they've taken the time and care needed to make exceptional meals! Go in prepared to have a drink and chat, be patient, and when the food comes, I promise you'll be happy you waited.

    Opentable has asked for a “Roux”view of our time at this restaurant. So, here it goes. As this was our third visit, my wife and I had previously come for a dinner and a brunch, this time we invited a friend to join us. First, the restaurant is great for a relaxed, New Orleans inspired, laidback meal with friends. So, we came again for brunch. To keep with the Louisiana vibe, I ordered the chicken and waffles, my wife had the brisket hash and our friend chose the salmon popover. For me, the chicken was a-maz-ing! I mean, seriously great. Unfortunately, the waffles were a bit dry and crumbly. My wife felt her meal was not what she hoped. She found the brisket to be less than generous and apparently it lacked a starch. She had to order toast. She also found the pastry basket had items that weren’t fully thawed, never mind freshly baked. Our friend, on the other hand, really enjoyed her meal. Having said all that, we’d go back. We loved our server, she was hilarious and attentive. The atmosphere is comfy and friendly and for the most part the food was good. And in our two previous visits we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Our hope is that this was just a blip.

    We bailed, the place was a dump! After our nice hostess seated us, a server came along and asked her why she seated a “walk-in”. She told her that we had a reservation. This banter ensued while she had people’s food in her hands and in front of us. The place looked dirty. We got up and left.

    Being from the States and particularly the South, I had to try this place. I may have set my expectations a bit too high, but that could be my “southerness“ speaking and bias. I ordered the jambalaya and it was just OK to me. I’ve had better. It had a kick in spices, but not necessarily the right flavors (seasonings) - it was missing something. However, my friend and I do appreciate the cook’s hospitality and making us feel welcomed with complimentary gumbos and desserts for our birthdays. There was only one server and it seemed he was spread a bit thin - serving our party along with 4-5 tables alone. Probably wouldn’t go back, but I would recommend for the ambiance.

    The restaurant’s ambiance was nice and the service was awesome however the food wasn’t great. Roux offers a slightly elevated version of soul food but everything we ordered was under seasoned and lacked flavour.

    A nice small restaurant in the Junction with interesting cocktails and good food. We waited quite a long time for our mains to arrive, but the drinks and appys were fairly quick. The menu is a nice change from the ordinary.

    Overall our dinner was very good. The oysters were excellent, very fresh! We tried the muscles also, very good. Three different enters between four of us( two had the Flatiron steak) Shrimp and Grits, awesome! Catfish and pork belly, amazing flavour. Loved the smokiness of the pork belly. I would definitely recommend it. Flatiron steak was very good withe the greens, though the frits were way too salty. Judging by the number of people around us that ordered the Chicken with waffle, I think it is a local favourite. I would love to go back and try it. Definitely some where I would return to. Thank you!

    So glad we tried Roux! nice to change it up and try the East side of Keele along Dundas West. Warm and cozy vibe. Good drink options, a variety of craft is always appreciated. Decent whiskey too. Food is 6 out of 5. It really is good. Menu has three more items I want to try, so I will be back. Server/s were friendly and patient with good knowledge of drinks. See you again!
