Rox City Grill
Went to eat with my family for Mother’s Day. We enjoyed the appetizers of poke and lumpia. For dinner we had the 20oz steak, the Chilean sea bass, and the maple pork medallion . All three meals had great flavor. The service was excellent, our server took care of all our needs and allowed for ample space to enjoy our conversation at the table. We will go back again with family visits from out of town.
Very slow service. Took 3 hours to complete dinner
Food came out dry
Overall experience was very disappointing
Rox City Grill makes one of the best filet mignon I have ever had. My friend had a chicken dish and she said it was the best chicken dish she ever had. It is on the pricey side but well worth it for the atmosphere and the food.
The food Entree was tiny small in portion size and the price was very large for what you are getting. The taste was ok . No sure what the sides where because all mashed together
There are not enough superlatives to describe the meal we had here! Every bite was perfectly prepared and gorgeously plated. Timing between courses was perfectly paced. An exquisite special occasion restaurant.
Food was excellent as well as service
We had a great time. The food was great and the service was excellent.
Always a great time at the Rox!
Great food and service and the Hotel Baker is very special. Save room for dessert— the donut dessert is awesome
Delicious food and excellent service. We really enjoyed the evening.
Food and service were excellent as usual. Since we were there on a Thursday night, it was quieter. It is much louder on Fridays and Saturdays when they have live music performing in the bar and a lot of people are using the lounge. Currently updating the menu so there will be changes and new things offered soon. The steaks are always excellent and their yukon gold mashed potatoes are wonderful. Not a broad menu but they do everything there well.
Good food, good service. Went early so there was no rush by staff and had leisurely dinner.
We had many things on the menu. The sea Bass was the best non-salmon fish dish I have ever had..outstanding. wine wasnt overpriced. Mixed drinks original and good. Early sitting was extremely relaxing.
We stayed at the Baker Hotel and took in a show at the Arcada. Both the Baker Hotel stay and the Arcada were excellent experiences. Prior to the show at the Arcada, we stopped in the Rox City Grill lounge for drinks. The service and value were outstanding. The ambiance was intimate and pleasant. The bartender was very friendly, provided excellent recommendations, and made outstanding drinks. After drinks, we returned for dinner in the Rox City Grill dining room. The food was out of this world, especially the steak. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and on a par with the finest steak houses in the country. The service was outstanding. The ambiance again was intimate and comfortable. We commented at the time that it is an atmosphere that is missing at many dining establishments. The Rox City Grill gets it right when it comes to a fine dining experience. Do not miss these jewels (Baker Hotel, Rox City Lounge and Grill, Arcada Theater and Speakeasy) when in the St. Charles area.
The food is excellent, a little pricey, but good. The martini's are the best!
Our first time and it was great. Really good food, Good atmosphere, the waiter Jacob was funny and personable. A little pricey, but worth it for a special evening.
St Charles is an hour drive from us...and dinner was worth it. There were 5 of us and we all totally enjoyed the dinner and the service. Valentines day is not typically the best night to go out...but is was our 15th wedding anniversary and Rox did not disappoint. We are looking forward to returning...and....don't miss the dairy free donuts!
Noise high. Not all the fault of restaurant. Guy behind me was a foghorn laugher. Hard to like that. Food fine and waiter was attentive and accommodating. Parking is always an issue in city center but not that bad. Sea bass good. Need to like spicy
Wife had lobster bisque and loved it. Neat Caesar salad with pickled tomato added. Good.
My wife and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Rox City Grill. Service was a little slow and a somewhat noisy crowd in the bar/music area blocked access to the dining area. Our meal was really good, however, and we look forward to a return trip -perhaps on a weeknight when it might be less crowded and noisy.
Clearly a local place and vibe...and not in a good way. Too loud during a nice dinner with live piano music blaring and people cramped and hovering around our table as we were trying to eat. We also waited 15 minutes to be greeted after being seated. Server was not attentive, joking with other tables and never checking back to see what we needed in a timely manner. Didn’t have silverwear when our food came, coke was flat and served never checked back, and then after telling him we had a show to get to, he was socializing upfront instead of running our bill. I had to get up, walk across the restaurant and interrupt his conversation with the hostess to hand him the bill. Food was great, but due to the ambiance being scattered and the service being subpar, we won’t be back. Really pretty hotel, but dressed down, casual crowd on a Saturday.
Our reserved table was not ready so we had to sit at bar table.
Our food took almost an hour to come out, making us late for our show at the Acadia
Great Food, extremely poor service. My reservation was not recognized and were consistently forgetting that we were in the restaurant, despite being all over older patrons
Ordered the lamb chops and filet. Everything was great!
Love Rox City. Great atmosphere. High energy.
Food and service great!
My wife and I joined another couple for an early dinner(6:30) on Saturday, 5 January, to usher in the new year with a dinner at Rox. Once again, we were not disappointed! Three of us had the filet and one, lobster. the steaks were "fork cuttable" tender with wonderful taste and done as requested. (The only thing I might mention is a bit more asparagus would have been nice. Thanks for another nice night at Rox and the great service from the bar. Thanks, Joe!
Great drinks & Food !
We had a great time. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding.
Such a fun, cozy place to have drinks and dinner. Beautiful setting in the historic Hotel Baker. The service was great. Our server and bartender was wonderful and friendly. It’s a little pricey but great for a special occasion.
The food is great but not inexpensive. On Tuesday's they are rather slow so its an opportunity to have a nice quiet dinner and enjoy the conversation. Weekends are much noisier. And they left some of my food out of my doggie bag but it is still one of our favorite places to go. We try to go every month or two.
We had an awesome time. The food was grown and and the service was outstanding.
Great atmosphere for friends or a couple listening to fantastic music. Service and dinner was cooked to perfection. Music was little loud for such a small area to carry on a conversation with friends.
Excellent food. Slow service not the servers fault need to hire more servers
Cozy, quiet atmosphere, with delectable menu selections.
Had dinner at Roxy's before going to the Arcada for a concert. You can't beat the Baker Hotel in general as it is a major "anchor" in St. Charles. Had never had dinner at Roxy's. The food, drinks and service were excellent. We had appetizers and probably would go back just to do appetizers for dinner some time. We both had fish and they were both excellent in their own way. The menu has something for everyone.
Our Server was very nice, efficient and not hovering which was really nice. Our only complaint would be to turn the lighting down a little for more atmosphere. They were even nice enough to hold our leftovers till we came back from the concert.
Great place and will be going back there again.
Pleasant ambiance and terrific bartender, but the service and food were disappointing. Our twenty-something server insisted on calling us "my darlings," forgot to clear our table between courses, and didn't refill our water glasses. The food suffered from gloppy plating and sweetness, both the charcuterie platter and entrees. The meats and cheeses were doused with balsamic vinegar and surrounded with jams. Although the halibut and short rib were tasty, the sweet sauces detracted from the dishes. The salad and dessert were good, but we expected so much more for a $200 meal.
Love the bar, drinks, and great service from Joe the bartender. Dinner was excellent as was service. Be sure to try the donut holes for dessert- delicious!
We were there on a Thursday evening, early dining. The restaurant was quiet, had a warm feel as you entered. Our waiter, Jacob was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the wine selections we were interested in.
My friend and I each ordered a recommended dinner selection and both were outstanding, Braised Short Rib and the Chilean Sea Bass.
I would highly recommend this place for any special occasion. Great atmosphere, great food and great service.
We always have a great time at Rox City Grill our granddaughter loves Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Eve dinner
Waiter made good suggestions, was polite and attentive. We enjoyed our meals, good portions and excellent prep. Mouth waters just thinking about it.
It took almost an hour and a half from ordering to receiving our food. Way too long. The piano player/singer was horrible - all ten of us agreed. Noise level is not conducive for conversation. Very overpriced. Don't think I find a need to return.
