We were there for the 5 course Thanksgiving dinner and have to say that the dinner was outstanding! And plentiful! Cost was very reasonable. Thank you!
My wife and I made reservations for the Sunday Evening 5 Coarse Thanksgiving Supper. We were early and they found us a table and sanitized it for us right away. Cynthia was our server, and a pleasant, happy person she was. She gave us time for a glass of wine to just get it the mood to eat, and didn't rush us at all during the meal. She seemed to be always on the go, and the different coarses' arrived hot/cold and tasty, with the right amount of time between coarse s to have a conversation and enjoy the room. Thanks Cynthia for an enjoyable dinner.
The food and service were excellent, we would definitely go there again.
Had a family dinner with 4 adults and 2 children. The service and food were both excellent. Server was knowledgeable about the menu in terms of gluten free options. We will definitely return.
Great establishment for enjoying a family dinner, particularly the gluten free meal options.
Overall good food and excellent service, will be back again
The food was fantastic and service was great. We were impressed.
The food at the Royal Coach Dining Room was excellent, and overall we really enjoyed our dinner here. The prices and menu selection were equally agreeable, although some may find the former a bit high and the latter a bit limited during regular evening dining hours. That said, this is easily addressed by doing a little research beforehand (e.g. looking at the online menu), as well as browsing through the restaurant’s ratings—the vast majority of which are understandably favourable—from any given review site.
The only (minor) issue was where the Royal Coach Dining Room is positioned within the Chateau Louis Hotel. While the architectural choices made at the time the hotel was designed/built certainly aren’t the restaurant’s fault, the reality is that it’s situated in a large, windowless inside room that only has a very large (albeit impressive) pained wall mural to look at. Aside from serving excellent food, the restaurant’s offset to this locational challenge is trying to keep their area as well-lit, tidy and tastefully furnished as they can; that said, under this veneer it still feels a lot like being in another one of the hotel’s generic convention centre spaces (instead of a stand-alone restaurant), with much of the emphasis appearing to be placed on the room’s function rather than its form.
In summary, the Royal Coach Dining Room is a solid choice for a dinner out if you appreciate flavourful food choices off of a boutique-style menu, and at a reasonable price-point. What it may arguably lack in ambiance is more than made up by the quality of the meal, and is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience without too many other outside or superficial distractions.
This was an outing for my wife's birthday. Due to Covid-19 the restaurant was completly empty, so we were able to celebrate something special and with a "coach" to ourself, amidst all of the global chaos. Be thankful for small blessings. The food was delicious, from the top serloin burger, to chicken mushroom fettuccine, to the creme brulé! The only dissapointment was that the pastas do not come with a roll or garlic bread?
It was a Valentine's day buffet. The food was fresh and tasty. Good choices of veggies, seafood and meet.
Thank you for going the extra mile to make sure that I would not eat any dairy. I really appreciated your attentiveness to my food sensitivities.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food!
Love the gluten free menu. Thank you Chateau Louis for doing this.
Our server was not good at all. She got drinks wrong, forgot drinks, mixed up orders, forgot items and all around was just not very good at all.
The server was excellent and attentive, the food was really good, and the ambiance was wonderful - quiet and charming interior. Will be back soon.
It’s one of the few places we can go for a completely safe gluten meal. And so much to pick from. If you like desserts, this is the place to go
I went to the New Years Eve gluten free buffet. I'd heard great things about the gluten free buffet so I was excited to go. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the $150 it cost for me, my husband, my 5 year old son, and 1 year old daughter. I left hungry. There was some I still couldn't eat so I can't attest to ALL the food but what I did try was so overcooked. The smoked salmon was rock hard. I had to saw through it with the steak knife. The catfish was so overcooked, it was mush and the panko crumbs were raw. The mushroom soup was bland. The chicken was hard and dry. Everything that was supposed to be hot was cold. And, I get it, where there's food, there's fruit flies but I have never seen so many at a buffet. There was a few stuck in the icing of the cake. I was soooo disappointed and even more so that it cost me so much to go and leave hungry. I may give it another chance later in the year but I may not. I don't know of it was an off night or what happened.
Food is great and consistent. Lots of variety and everything is fresh made from scratch. Veggies are freshly steamed and not overdone....desserts are spectacular. The chef and staff are very hospitable. HIGHLY.RECOMMEND.THIS.PLACE!
We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner buffet, taste of Italy. Service was great and the music relaxing
Food was very good and they offer a great selection. Only thing is the buffet chafing dishes could have been hotter to keep the hot items warmer. First go around coffee and tea was lukewarm but after we asked for hotter coffee and tea it was much better.
Overall a great brunch and we will definitely come back again!
Food here is awesome. The chef is great and the food is so tasty. Been here many times and will continue to go.
As a person with Celiac Disease I appreciate having this gluten free buffet option. It is a tad pricey but the food is always delicious.
Had a great birthday dinner with 2 young children.
The Thanksgiving spread was good! Enjoyed the turkey!
Very busy Thanksgiving Buffet. The food, service, and atmosphere were great. It was the “place to be”
The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I have only ever visited the lounge on Saturdays as every thing on the buffet is gluten free and I don't have to worry even the slightest that I am going to go home and end up sick. Not only is it a relief but it's an amazing meal that I get to enjoy. Highly recommended.
Over all everything was excellant. We were a party of 4 with 2 GF diners so it was VERY nice to have a buffet that was guaranteed not to make anyone ill. Service was awesome start to finish. And bonus for in house made horseradish for the prime rib. Just the right amount of kick. Desserts were nice and many new favourites.
Amazing every time we go it's the only place we go out to eat.
We love the gluten free buffet where we can dine without fear of gluten exposure and experience delicious food by Chef Lorne, greeted by Tony at the door and the piano player with our coffee and dessert.
If you are Celiac the Saturday Prime Rib Buffet is amazing! The food could have a bit more flavour but just to be able to go out and safely enjoy a special dinner is a wonderful gift.
Great French style Buffet, easy to build your own multi-course meal in the French style. Chef will saute shellfish and beef as you watch.
It was very warm in the restaurant. A glass was dropped and broken glass flew on and underneath our table. Very little was done to clean it up so we had broken glass on our table throughout the meal. The food was OK.
The food is fantastic! And the desert table unbelievable! Great tasting varieties and all gluten free! Love going to the Royal Coach buffet! One of the best around!
We enjoyed our dinner. Husband and I decided to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary with a night out at the buffet, which had good food.
We were told the dress was business casual, but clearly no one else got the memo, as there were plenty of shorts and t-shirts there.
The waitstaff was good. It was difficult to get a drink refill, but the water never stopped coming.
The decor is very dated. The whole building looks pretty dated.
But the atmosphere was enjoyable. It was a quiet restaurant, so good for conversation.
We left very full and satisfied.
It is such a value to our City to have a restaurant that offers a complete Gluten-free buffet as it takes the anxiety and stress away for individuals who suffer from celiac disease or gluten intolerances. The food is excellent, the choices are stellar and the staff are very personable and helpful. I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great food, great service, especially for Mother’s Day. My mother in law was thoroughly impressed. Our server, Tracy, went above and beyond and was exceptional. This was my first time dining here, and I will absolutely be back! Thanks for making mother’s day dinner stress free!!
disappointed, thought for that price it would have a carving station. place was nuts they increased the tables and did not increase the size of the buffet, took half an hour to even get to the food. Cold seafood was not very good, too much herbs. not a very good variety that last time we were there for the gluten free buffet it was great, not sure what happened
The food was quite good and they were very accommodating to me with my dairy allergy. The only disappointing part was that there were a few things listed on the menu that were not there. There weren’t any Italian deli meats and there was something else but I can’t remember what it was...possibly chicken. It made for very few choices for me. I wouldn’t have paid that much (Mother’s Day prices) for the handful of things I could eat. Again, they accommodated me well but I still didn’t eat enough for what I paid.
Attended this restaurant for their Mother's Day brunch. The food was good but they have to do a better job at booking times to not cause a huge line up to get to the buffet table. If they could stagger the times that people came in then we would not have had to stand in line for the better part of 15 mins to eat. My plan for my mother was not to have her stand in line on her day. The layout could also have been improved for perhaps two lines down the buffet table. The food was good and none of the items ran out without being refilled quickly, the omelet station was good with little to no line up. The service was just standard as I assume they now had to wait on all the people that just kept coming in they had to push the existing customers down the priority list. Not sure if I would come back for the buffet again.
Small selection for Mother's Day brunch, but plentiful and excellent quality. Fresh food was being brought out constantly.
The freshness and flavour of everything was superb. My daughter is celiac and the huge selection of food available to her was great and great tasting. The service was attentive and pleasant. The price was reasonable. We will go again and have already recommended it to friends and family.
