The food was good and the service was exceptional!
What a fantastic evening! Celebrated my Dad’s 67th birthday tonight and we had a great experience. It just so happened to be restaurant week so we were able to select our dinner choices croma pre-fixed menu. For $47, you had options for an appetizer, entree, dessert and two glasses of wine. Not too bad! I ordered the 6oz Filet and it was so darn tender that I could’ve cut it with a butter knife. The flavor and temperature of the steak was perfect. Our waiter was PHENOMENAL! He was attentive but not overbearing and had the perfect amount of professionalism with a touch of humor. I would surely return if I’m in the Baltimore area.
outstanding food and service. Great for everyday and special occasion. I can't wait to go back!
I always enjoy Roy’s in Baltimore. Consistently fabulous food and service.
We had a wonderful dinner! The special was Chilean sea bass which was exquisitely prepared, moist and succulent with a crispy skin, a rich broth with roasted veggies. Yum!
The lobster bisque was delightful and a small salad was the perfect accompaniment. The sea bass special ends this month! Don’t miss it!
Excellent food , but very pricey
The food was outstanding and that’s what I completely love about Roy’s . I was born and raised in Hawaii so when I go to the mainland stores I always expect great service because that’s what I’ve always gotten. I have never been disappointed about the service but this time I was. I will
Not go to Roys in Baltimore again.
I had to remind my server several times about our drinks and the food took forever.
He was miserable.
Son’s birthday, server did not ask us if there was any occasion we are celebrating unlike the other server from the next table who was gracious enough to ask his customers. Food was good, in fact , my husband enjoyed his food, so did my son who had steak which was done to his request. Overall, we enjoyed our visit which would have been more memorable if there was an extra touch for my son’s birthday
I love Roys, but the prix fix New Year’s Eve menu was not good. The 72 hour short rib looked raw and was super tough and fatty (very uncharacteristic of what a short rib should be). I made a comment about it definitely not being cooked for 72 hours and the waiter chuckled. They brought me pot stickers in place of the bad short rib, and they were ok. I would recommend Roy’s to anyone during normal dining situations but New Year’s Eve was not there finest hour. I did hear they might have a new chef?!?!
Normally the food and service are great, but New Years Eve was a disaster. Food poorly prepared, crab cake almost inedible, server bringing the wrong plates to the wrong people all night, long waits between courses... I could go on, but you get the point.
Excellent food, especially appreciated their willingness to change side items to accommodate my wife's food allergies on New Year's Eve prix fixe menu.
We shared a meal on New Years Eve. It was so very tasty, and our server was right on top of what we needed. It was a prix fixe menu that evening, but the choices were among those from the main menu that I would have chosen. All in all a great meal! The PB&J Smores were an unexpected awesome dessert!
Once again very disappointing. Poor communication about the prix fixe menu. Brought out courses at the wrong times, brought some guests 2 dishes and other guests none. Switched steaks. Vegetarian dishes had absolutely no flavor and presented poorly. Extremely slow and disorganized. Server told us she would take three dishes off the bill-but then brought us the wrong check. Billed us a la Carte for the appetizers we did have, even though it was a prix fixe meal, and the service on the appetizers was atrocious. Thanks for the $20 gift card but we will not be back.
As always, Roy's is that restaurant you go to when you want it done right. Probably the most consistent dining experience in the area. It's never a bad choice.
Always a wonderful experience
It was easily the slowest service I've experienced in my lifetime. It was Christmas Day, so my wife and I were trying to be as patient and forgiving as possible. But every. single. phase of the meal came with a noticeable wait, followed by ridiculous, followed by excruciating. It is a very rare thing for me to want to just get up and leave, but I resisted that urge multiple times over the 2 hours and 20 minutes it took to get through this meal.
30 minutes for the appetizers to arrive. After finishing the appetizers, easily another 30 minutes for the main course to arrive. Dessert took over 45 minutes. We noticed folks at other tables looking around wondering what the heck was going on. The food itself was fantastic.
We all have much to be thankful for, that an establishment like this would be open for dinner on Christmas. But, even though the food was wonderful, an experience like this is really difficult to overcome. It was so painful we can't imagine ever going back.
The misoyaki butterfish is consistently tasty. The sushi roll apps were very good and actually quite filling. The cocktails were strong. Pity they no longer serve the complimentary spiced edamame. Why did they stop serving these? They were so good!
We have not been at Roy's in Baltimore for a while after experiencing bad service the last time. We decided to give them another chance. Management must have changed as the service has vastly improved. The General Manager came around the tables and greeted the diners. The Chef also came out and stopped at the tables to chat. Our server was friendly and attentive. Absolutely great service. We will put Roy's back in our rotation.
The food and customer service were awesome! The atmosphere was very friendly and festive. It was a perfect Christmas brunch for me and my daughters!
The waiter was pleasant and provided good service. It wasn't outstanding service but it was solid although we waited some time between dinner being cleared and dessert; and dessert and being offered the check. We started with two sushi rolls which everyone felt were well prepared and enjoyable-nothing to write home about but good enough. The food was well prepared in general although my steak was somewhat overcooked. The portions were ok--although having only one small scallop in a combination platter where it is featured-come on! The price tag for what was served did not match the product. The lobster bisque was touted as being a bit unusual with a bit of spiciness- it was very much standard lobster bisque-mild with no hint of a kick-good but not unique. We were aware of the expense going in and the meal was for a special occasion. For the price, I expected high quality and something unique in the cuisine. I have visited other restaurants where we paid a similar price and came out satisfied and felt the dining experience was well worth it. That was not the case here. I very much felt we overpaid and wasted our money. The dining experience was good but not what I expected for the money spent. Will not go back.
Food was wonderful. Staff outstanding. Very focused on our enjoyment. Look forward to going again.
The food was great and our server was FANTASTIC! It may be a chain but they make you feel very special.
Very disappointed! This is not my first dinner at Roy’s. Last one about 2 years ago. I felt that, unfortunately, since that time they have changed to the worst.
Customers still come in well dressed expecting a nice atmosphere - not there anymore. Waiters not well trained, running around. Very noisy. Food was “ok” nothing special. My husband asked mahi-mahi- absolutely no spices. He asked for salt and pepper - he had it brought on the plate for him! With so many choices around, I would not go back.
We always enjoy dinner at Roy's. I tried the poke appetizer for the first time and was rather disappointed. Lots of avocado and very little poke. Although it tasted fine, I wouldn't order it again. All the rest of our dinner (macadamia crusted mahi mahi; Asian stuffed chicken breast; and the chef's creation grilled swordfish) were delicious.
The Hawaiian martin and soufflé were epic (as always). Butter fish was cold and somehow over cooked, they were great about substituting for the scallops that were over cooked as well. Service was very nice. Everything came out very quickly so I am guessing that they are pre-cooking things in the back. We left agreeing our time at Roy’s has probably come to and end. Seems to now be the Olive Garden of Hawaiian fusion.
The food quality (i.e. flavor) was not bad, it just wasn't outstanding or great. The portions were small, fish a bit over-salted. The restaurant was noisy, but that's okay for a Saturday night. It was also very warm, I mean, take your sweater off and thinking about pouring the ice water on your head level of warm. Our server was excellent, very helpful, friendly, eager to please. The wine selection is also only fair, the one we chose was not very good at all. Glad I tried it because I can check it off the bucket list, but no reason to go back.
As always, Roy's delivered an outstanding dining experience.
There's always a delightful time had when we patron Roy's. Great job as usual.
Food is NOT good... bland and poor quality. Overpriced for what you get.
Food was good. Not to crazy about it though. Really pricey, one meal can go up to 60 bucks. We went there for our anniversary and they had a small table ready for us (reservation) table could have been a lil bit better. They treated us for a small delight lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Service was good. Just really expensive. Also, if you plan to go there note that they have a valet service so you won't have to park in the garage.
We’ve been to Roy’s Baltimore a number of times before with family, friends, and as a couple. The food never disappoints and this time was no exception. Seating at tables along a row of high-backed benches left no room for privacy - we were almost elbow-to-elbow with our other neighbors - more of a diner feel. We also noticed the noise level to be high this time, making low conversation difficult. Tip is to avoid being seat at these tables if possible.
Great meal to celebrate anniversary
The food and service here are outstanding.
I did not get awarded points for my reservation for some reason even though we checked in at the hostess stand and ate there.
We had to wait more than 15 minutes to get water and a menu. This only happened after I tracked down the manager to let them know that no one had come to our table.
I was a disappointed in the service. We were seated immediately at a nice romantic table for 2. But no sooner were we looking at the menu I than we were asked to move because the table was “reserved”. Right. I had made a reservation. So we moved to a four top table. Then, the “reserved” table was waited on first, received their food well ahead of us and so on. Water took for ever to fill, etc. For the locale, type of restaurant and cost, TVs was disappointing.
The food was good. I’d suggest the butterfish. It wasn’t the best ever, but we enjoyed a nice night together.
They did treat us to a birthday desert, Pineapple Upside Down cake. It was delightful.
I was celebrating my anniversary and I am extremely sad We picked this restaurant as our celebration place. I have never encountered a waitress so rude like the one we had. She was so condescending and nasty to my boyfriend and I. I accidentally spilled some soy sauce on the table and she made an unnecessary ordeal out of it, which drew unwanted attention from the other guests. I left embarrassed and genuinely upset. You spend money for an upscale establishment, and feel belittled...just a waste. Also unfortunately a side dish we ordered never came out and for some reason she was mad at me when I asked her to take it off the check...
SO unfortunate because our actual meal was great.
No waiting at 6:30 on a Saturday night was a pleasant surprise. Hadn’t been to Roy’s for a few years. Food quality was excellent and the service good, but the portions were very small and at their very high prices, we shouldn’t have left hungry.
We brought our granddaughter here for her 5th Birthday Celebration and Roy's did a wonderful job of making her feel special. Although she did not eat her lunch she was more than happy to enjoy her birthday celebration lava cake!
Great service and food was excellent as always!! The lobster potstickers never disappoint.
I've been going for years and Roy's is always on my list. Dinner is good but Best Happy Hour around in my opinion. Especially if you want food as much as drinks.
Parking was easy with valet. My wife and I were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary. We started off with the lobster potstickers appetizer. For our main courses, my wife had the Misoyaki “Butterfish”, I had the "Classic Four" which included, Hibachi Grilled Atlantic Salmon – Misoyaki “Butterfish” Blackened Island Ahi – Roasted Macadamia Nut Mahi Mahi. All the foods were outstanding, unique and prepared to perfection. We both enjoyed a nice glass of champagne and a glass of Chardonnay. It was fantastic evening. There are so many wonderful restaurants in downtown Baltimore. I would rank Roy's in the top 10.
