We had a group of 4 on Sunday, our server Danielle was extremely helpful and her service was very professional. The food was great, the place offers a beautiful scenic view. What more can you ask?! Thanks Danielle for the wonderful service!
Great tea experience with an amazing backdrop. Amy was uber knowledgeable about her teas and provided some great conversation as well.
Being Scottish and having Afternoon Tea for 60 years I have to say the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel was the best in the world because of the food, ambiance and best view in the world!!!!!!
We ended our week of hiking in BANFF with the afternoon tea on Friday!! It was so relaxing!! The tea sandwiches and desserts were delightful! We got to watch a wedding on the lower patio as well. The cucumber tea was so refreshing and light!! Would definitely recommend the high tea for friends/ couples visiting BANFF. And the views of the mountains are just spectacular!
The High Tea was outstanding due to the accommodation of an egg allergy being treated exceptionally well. The food provided for the allergy was comparable to the regular menu items but with different egg free items substituted where necessary. Considering the complexity of the menu items, this was handled superbly. The menu items are each unique and very well seasoned and presented. The dining room and the view are also exceptional. One item I would recommend is to plan enough time to take the bus or to walk to the hotel as the free parking lot by the hotel was full and the valet parking fee at the hotel was $45 for two hours.
Perfect service, we are here for travel, it’s a really nice place for a cosy afternoon, enjoy some treats with your friends or family, and have a totally relaxed with breathtaking views.
This was a bit expensive, but the service and the experience was totally worth it. The tea selection was wonderful. The finger sandwiches and desserts were decadent and wonderful. If you’ve never done a high tea before, you should do it.
A touch of class, a definite must when in Banff. The service, view, tea and food was simply out of this world. Thank you.
Our server Ankit, was very good. Very accommodating, pleasant and knowledgeable. We were celebrating a birthday, and he recognized me from a previous visit in June.
The food was amazing, and they were very careful about the food allergies of one of my friends.
My friends were so impressed that they have all said they would love to come back.
BeUtuful views and great service. High tea items were somewhat hit and miss. Presentation was nice. Scones were good as was the duck confit. Egg salad bowl had too much bread, as did the cucumber sandwich.
All in all, the view made up for other aspects. An experience worth having.
We had a fantastic time. The food and tea was exceptional. We will definitely recommend this experience.
A little pricey but amazing view and great service...food was delicious!!
It was a great experience. Service was great. Ambience is great. Great views. Tea and food was great!! They were able to do some really good substitutions for vegetarian preference. A little pricey, but worth doing it for the experience.
Very nice but would have loved Devonshire Cream and more traditional food.
So worth it. If you can, you should enjoy high tea at the Banff Fairmont Springs. Service was excellent and the tea delicious.
I treated my mother to High Tea for her 70th Birthday. We had a wonderful time. Our server Ankitt was friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. We had a great time.
Beautiful setting and Excellent service. My kids enjoyed the children’s high tea too. Great 80th celebration for my father. They gave him a special birthday dessert with a candle which was a special touch and very delicious.
We have been several times and enjoy the views, the service and the hotel. However, there were a few families at high tea with young children who were using iPads at full volume. Definitely took away from the ambiance.
Afternoon Tea at the Banff Springs is the Cadillac of High Tea experiences in Southern Alberta. I try to go a few times a year to enjoy a few quiet and relaxing hours. I highly recommend it for special occasions or to treat yourself.
The cost of having tea at the Banff Springs Hotel was about $80/person, including the cost of afternoon tea, tip and parking. So, exceptional food and service is expected. While the server was very friendly, it took 30 minutes from the time we sat down until we received tea, not food, just tea. When the tea arrived, two of the teapots had stained inner spouts, which doesn't speak to the cleanliness of the teapots, cups and cutlery. In addition, we were missing a spoon. After just one pot of tea had steeped the server removed the teabag plate, so we could not remove the teabags for the other pots which eventually made the tea bitter. There did not appear to be sugar tongs to remove the sugar from the communal sugar bowl. When we asked the server, she said, "to just use our spoons". Which made me wonder how many wet, used tea spoons had touch the sugar cubes we were using. Did anyone lick their spoon after stirring their first cup of tea? There were numerous other small serving issues that I won't detail here. The food was good and there was a creative take on traditional afternoon tea snacks, however I wouldn't go again.
It was quite an experience I may say. Husband and I liked the little bagels sandwich specially the one with the salmon in it. Our server name Danielle was very accommodating & knowledgeable about all tea's, we added the cheese board to our afternoon tea and made it more interesting but a 6 yrs old son rushing us to be done so he could roam around outside, I would want to stayed longer that is why most of our dessert went in the box with us but overall we enjoyed it and would recommend to those who love tea and other munchies.
Beautiful views of the mountains and river. The service was excellent. The kitchen customized the afternoon tea menu to our individual dietary restrictions. Great selection of teas. Will definitely go again 👍
Great views, service and tea. All in a beautiful setting. What more do you want?
The tea and the food was excellent, and the waitress was lovely and very helpful, answering our many questions. The view was simply breathtaking. A bit expensive but quite a special experience.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate our recent engagement! The views were spectacular.
A fabulous quiet afternoon with my sister-in-law! We felt like we were the only ones there. It was relaxing, the tea was delicious and the views outstanding!
Special Occasion made even better.
If you want to have tea at the Banff Springs Hotel to enjoy the view, you will love this experience. We sat in an area of the Rundle Room, surrounded on three sides by glass, facing the mountains. The view was breathtaking.
The food however was poor. So much attention was paid to making the tea “fancy” that aside from the mushroom on cracker bite everything was a bit too over the top. A simple shortbread cookie was full of anise seeds, providing a strong black licorice flavour, then literally covered in sugar crystals. It was more like a sugar cookie than a buttery rich shortbread.
The coronation chicken in a pastry cone was too small to actually include chicken pieces. It may have had a few “threads” of chicken but they were hard to distinguish from the tasteless cream concoction in the small coronet.
There were two types of scones, cranberry and plain. The cranberry scone had one cranberry carefully cut in half and the plain scone did have a specific flavour but the taste was so underwhelming that for all intents and purposes it was a plain scone. Accompanying the scones were small jars of strawberry and raspberry jam as well as a small jar of “honey”. Where was the lemon curd? More importantly, where was the clotted cream? At the Rundle it was replaced with a very small serving of ordinary whipped cream. The two little jars of jam, the one small jar of honey and the very small serving of whipped cream was for three people.
All of this for the low, low price of $75. per person for a total, with tip of over $250.
Next time I will pick up a sandwich, in Banff, and a delicious pastry from a local bakery and bring a thermos of tea to set up my own afternoon tea in any one of the
amazing mountain viewing spots, in Banff. Cost $15. per person.
Over priced, bland and over-rated
Sadly, we expected delicious things with this High Tea, especially at $55 per head, but were very disappointed indeed. We've had high teas all over the world, and have spent many years living in the UK, so it's a bit depressing to think it can be so hard to do something relatively simple like this.
We found the savoury items unpalatable (weird goats cheese quiche which tasted of absolutely nothing) and a gross pinwheel take on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which really was apropos of nothing, and tasted like cardboard. The coronation chicken in a sesame cone was very tasty, but stood out because it actually tasted scrumptious amidst all the blandness. The sweet stuff was way over-sweet, and the balance of sweet to any other flavours just smothered it. I've also never seen so much sugar heaped on shortbread, we had to spoon it off and then tap the shortbread to get rid of it. Not a clue.
For two of us, plus a child, is was $166 including tip. Very poor value.
The kitchen really needs a rocket - if you're going to do high tea, for heavens sake make it so deliciously tempting that it really is worth every penny.
Sadly, this just felt like a rip off, poorly executed.
Also - please, stop your staff coming up every five minutes asking 'how are those first bites tasting'....it is completely dementing, unnecessary and unprofessional.
How could you not recommend an afternoon tea with the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains? That alone is enough to try it. The service was good as expected. Afternoon tea in itself is an experience. There were a couple things we found disappointing. We were told the scones and the quiche were hot and they were not. The actual crust on the tart for instance was not as good as I would’ve expected. It may have been because they had to roll the crusts so thin to accommodate the size. Having said that the over all meal was great. The best dessert was the opera slice. Though the Profiterole a close second. Pistachio Pinwheel a favourite and a surprise. Again atmosphere made the tea worth the cost. Would recommend this as a must try once.
I took my girls for a special treat on our first day of vacation. Wonderful experience. Beautiful view, professional staff, wonderful teas and delicious food.
Everything & more than I expected! Loved it - highly recommend it!
Ankir made our experience a phenomenal experience. I love afternoon tea time and partake anytime I am traveling (and it is available), and he made our experience our best one yet. He was attentive, and personable, while offering world class service. He was thoughtful, informative, and a true gem. He is the only reason, the Banff Springs Hotel Afternoon Tea is in a class of its own.
Friendly service. Delicious food. A special treat for our friends visiting from Australia. Beautiful view of the mountains.
We had the pleasure of being served by Danielle, and she made our experience unbelievable. She knew all the details of afternoon tea and described it wonderfully, adding in her own experiences with the menu items. She was very attentive and came over to our table multiple times to check up on us, and just over all had a very warm personality. Everyone there was amazing and showed us a wonderful experience. Thank you Rundle Lounge, we will definitely be back!
We went as a group and the service was amazing. I have major dietary restrictions due to being a diabetic so I could not eat anything that was being served with high tea. The chef was beyond accommodating. He made me a selection of very delicious and healthy bites. The other girls loved their regular high food treats.
I would definitely go back. I am very grateful for their willingness to find an alternative with me! Our server was also very attentive.
Our server was wonderful and patient in explaining all the teas and food. We loved the wonderful time to slow travel.
My mom and I have been going here for about 10 years now for the afternoon tea experience and each time is always something new and exciting. The atmosphere is very classy and historic feeling, the foods is so good and they are very helpful if you have dietary requests like vegetarian or gluten free. This time my mom and I got the artisan cheese board added on to enjoy after the full tea experience, It was so yummy and worth the $28 extra. This experience is pricey but for a once in a while or once a year which we do it is worth every penny. Beautiful mountain view for photos and you can sit there as long as you want from 11 to 3, they don't rush you out to bring other guests in.
Great selection of teas and food, ample servings. Waitress was very informative about different teas and process.
