It’s been over four years since guests last tasted the Sicilian dishes from longtime Milwaukee restaurant Giovanni’s. But all of that changes with Safina: a new casual Italian concept that comes to the historic building at 785 N. Jefferson St.

Focusing on comforting dishes with roots in Sicily and the southern regions of Italy, Safina's goal is to keep the menu familiar and accessible. The restaurant also features a full bar and second-level seating, complete with wood and marble finishes that highlight the rustic, modern Italian ambiance.

The building housing the restaurant is over 130 years old and has been beautifully remodeled by talented designers and carpenters. The vibe has an old school Brooklyn New York feeling and is the perfect place to make wonderful memories with friends and family.

The menu features delicious gourmet pizzas / house-made pastas / salads / appetizers / deserts along with delicious Italian wine / cocktails and are professionally served to you by our attentive staff. Our amazing Neapolitan Style Pizza is hand made with the finest and freshest ingredients and cooked in a 6,000-pound Italian woodfired oven. With humility and gratitude our pizza was ranked nationally as the 46th best pizza in North America and we are very proud to serve many happy diners here in Milwaukee.

Reservations are highly recommended as space is limited. We look forward to serving you.

This was our first time coming here on recommendations from friends and it is a very lovely restaurant. The ambience is just terrific; adorned with photos of the wonderful Sophia Loren, playing her movies with closed captioning, photos of other great Italian celebrities and two bar areas. We were greeted by who I think was the owner and he was very welcoming. The menu, while a bit small, was more than adequate and the food/service were great! It is a little gem of a spot and looking forward to going back.

Food and service never misses, so enjoyable eating at downtown Zarletti’s. Admittedly, always a little bit of a crap shoot when choosing the wines, that’s where their bigger margins reside, you know what I’m getting at. Fantastic Italian fare. And service is almost always terrific.

It was our first time visiting. We started with espresso martinis, shared a pizza chopped salad, had the chicken parmigiana and chicken savoy, and shared the seasonal tiramisu. Everything was delicious and service was fantastic (thanks Rochelle). We will definitely visit again.
