This year marks the 50th-year anniversary of the one and only Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder Co. Since opening their doors in 1972, CPOG has been serving its unique style of pizza, the Pizza Pot Pie- an original- baked in a bowl filled with cheese; homemade sauce from scratch (each batch takes 10 hours of prep and cooking time); large fresh mushrooms and topped with a triple raised Sicilian bread-type dough; then inverted ceremoniously at your table. Six mouth-watering gargantuan Oven Grinders, several colossal salads with distinctive, original homemade dressings and the Mediterranean Bread round out its menu.
In the heart of Lincoln Park in Chicago, this cozy restaurant is housed in a historical building. Set across the street from the site of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, this three story brownstone is claimed to have been used as a look out for Al Capone’s gang during the legendary hit back in 1929.

For Our Gluten Free Diners please make reservations for gluten free dough. In our effort to serve the best and safest quality product our gluten free is available in limited supply, we strive to always have it available sometimes demand is greater and we do run out.

Pizza in Napoli is soft and foldable and can be considered “wet” by American standards. For this reason, people in Napoli generally eat their pizza with a knife and fork. Blackened char spots on the pizza crust is a tell–tale sign of Pizza Napoletana that has been cooked in a blistering hot, wood-burning oven.

I ordered the special pizza - it was served so hot the cheese was basically falling off the pizza and there was way too much sauce. This cost me $24 . I know people love their pizza so maybe I ordered the wrong one. I just didn’t love it. My friend ordered the pistachio pizza which was fine. I think the prices are just overpriced in general for pizza.
