About the restaurant

This is where it all started – on the banks of the Rappahannock River overlooking where we grow our oysters. We like to call Merroir a “tasting room,” just so people know to expect something different. Everything is either served raw or cooked on an outdoor grill, small-plate-style, and beautifully paired with craft brews and world-famous wines. Each menu item is singularly-focused, seasonal, and ever-changing, so there’s always a surprise in store.

We love AJ’s on the Creek! The food is always spot on and delicious and the weight staff has always friendly and helpful as well as management. We highly recommend this restaurant, it is our favorite one on Chincoteague Island.

We went to The Hard Shell for my daughter’s 21st birthday. With impending snow, they graciously changed our reservation and were served by Brett who was fantastic. Very attentive, funny and so nice. The food was amazing, especially the shrimp and lobster potstickers, she crab soup and bourbon glazed ribs. A great birthday dinner with a free dessert for my daughter. Love The Hard Shell!!!
