A very modern setting, beautiful decor. I loved the special button lighting fixture to go with the tailor motif. The food was good and the service excellent. Will go back to try the regular menu instead of the Dine Out special one.
Portions were small
By the end of the meal we were still hungry
The service was great . But the overall quality of the meal was lacking.
I would say the evening was fine. Not great. Just fine.
We will not be returning
Everything was good, but found it a little noisy because of the big party beside us. They were a little loud but bearable :)
A charming, innovative star in Vancouver and especially in Chinatown. A must for fun dining!
We visited during Dine Out week and all the dishes that we tried from the Dine Out menu were cooked perfectly. All the dishes were well balanced and flavourful. The service was quick, the server friendly and engaging. Overall, we would return to try out their regular menu.
Tried sai woo for the first time during Dine Out and was unfortunately disappointed. The venue is very enjoyable. The service was adequate, but could be more attentive. The dishes we had were at best alright, but sadly some of the dishes were very unappealing.
Not great sadly. I had made a reservation for dinner and upon arrival I was told I would only have the table for 2 hours and then I must vacate. Not a great first impression.
The food was very overpriced for what it was. The tables were too close together and the ambiance was not nice.
I won’t be back.
This place is a gem...doesnt look like much from the outside, but inside is a warm, intimate setting that is not often found in a Chinese place. The food is off the charts!
We had dinner here on a Sunday night and thought it was great. Very quiet but the food was good. Would be more fun on a busy night will a full restaurant though.
Had 7 different dishes. Each one was absolutely delicious. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu, making excellent recommendations. Happy hour drink prices were a nice bonus. Will definitely be coming back to try all new dishes!
Great food, nice ambiance! We were there with our family (kids 12 & 16) and everyone enjoyed the food.
Food highlights: maple brussel sprouts, Korean pancakes, and Chinese paella
The staff were exceptional! You know they go above and beyond when you can’t figure out who the manager is since they are all deeply vested in the restaurant.
Will definitely be back, actually already planning who to take and when.
Good food, good pleasant service, nice decor. We’ll be back.
Sai Woo is a must visit in Vancouver. Amazing food, lots of allergy friendly options (GF, Vegetarian, etc). We love dining here!
Great food, great service. The plates are great for sharing with a group. Cocktails are very unique and refreshing. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely come again. I would maybe pump the breaks on the steak as there was nothing special about it but the squid was the best I have ever had!
Hard to find free parking for the area, but a very cool place to check out at least once. Service was great and food came very quickly! Came for my birthday and brought my own cake, and they were happy to serve it and provide plates/ cutlery. Split the bill for us too which was a plus (6 people).
Ordered 2 rounds of the Mantou buns (2 per order) - eat fast or they will get soggy!
Salt and pepper squid - much smaller than expected, quite expensive for the size
Confit duck lo mein
Pork chashu mazesoba
Peking duck fried rice - these three entrees are pretty solid orders, nothing to complain or rave about
Korean garlic chicken - very tasty! Wish there was more
Vietnamese shaking beef - also very tasty, but not a lot of meat
It's a share-style restaurant, so come with a few friends and try a bit of everything!
Side note: very nice single-person washrooms!
The food here is amazing, the service is excellent, and the vibe is great. Good cocktails as well
Great evening with table of 8 friends. Server was friendly, fun and efficient!! Food was fabulous — we chose a variety of plates and kept ordering until full. Julie, the server, shared the historical background of the restaurant and was enthusiastic about the food and serving our small group! Much appreciated by us all!
Nice quality of food. Great ambiance.
Would recommend to give it a try!
The first night they were closed for a special event. I made reservations for the next night but then those were cancelled since OpenTable overbooked them. So we were seated at the bar. The food was great and so was the service but I would have preferred a table.
Great atmosphere and amazing service! The cocktails are tasty, the garlic chicken, kimchi dumplings, duck confit noodles are amazing. Been here 3 times for special occasions and also a night out with friends, either way it’s a terrific spot to go.
Amazing asian fusion dining in China town. Service was great and food was fantastic !
Love this restaurant.... the food is fantastic and it's a great room. Although the music got too loud later in the evening... or perhaps I'm an old lady (ha ha).
We had an excellent meal as a group of 2 couples. Service was genuine and knowledgeable about the food. Ambience is dark and sexy but fun. Definitely worth a visit.
The interior was excellent! Comfortable, beautifully lit, great seating options. The balsamic Brussel sprouts were amazing!
First time here. Super impressed. Fried squid was delicious. No complaints at all. Go!
Beautiful decor, good drinks and great service. HOWEVER, being of chinese-descent, I think the pricing is definitely outrageous for what the dishes are (for ex. szechuan pepper beef for $21? At any other chines restaurant, for double the portion size and equally (if not better) flavour, you'd only pay ~$10 for that dish!). Regardless - food is "good" if you don't typically eat asian cuisine and are OK with the whole notion of asian-fusion pricing.
Highly recommend. Food was top notch, very tasty, good happy hour on food and drinks and the service was great. Can't wait to come back.
Excellent, innovative menu. Fast, cheerful service. Excellent quality.
Service was a bit spotty, food was good but nothing that would bring me back again considering the abundance of similar restaurants around.
Fabulous as always, food was excellent, service awesome, love continue back here.
Had a great happy hour! A fun night.
Far different from anywhere I have been before. The food was incredible and I loved the Asian fusion feel to the menu. 6 of us all enjoyed it and would happily go back again. The staff were friendly and fantastic too.
Finally an Asian-Fusion place that hit all the right spots, yet knows what to leave well alone.
It's "bold" to bring an Asian party to a Asian-Fusion place, my cousin remarked. But if you come in with an open-mind, and expectation of a western meal, this place can change minds. We all had a blast. The food hit the right balance, offering what we love of both Western and Asian (which is a rarity). The staff were very accommodating and polite, though we constantly tried to push our luck with our reservation. The vibe was, dare I say, non-pretentious. The cocktails we on point with the mixologist at the table! The shaking beef impressed even the steak aficionado of the table. The only hic-up (out of many triumphs) was rice dishes were soggy. But chef owned up to it (which, in itself, is worth noting.) And we felt confident it was a one-time thing.
The food in general was comforting yet adventurous! Which made for good times. And I'm just overall happy that (can be tough) crowd was happy.
The food was mediocre. We will not return here.
Great experience on our first night in Vancouver. We had been craving some Asian food since the Rockies some weeks earlier. This place was spectacular. The food was superb, a great atmosphere and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Would definitely recommend. Had we been in Vancouver for longer we would return without hesitating!
This would be my 4th time here. I like it. The food is great and the prices quite reasonable. I was surprised how quiet it was that night.
Everything was amazing! Would absolutely recommend!!!
Modern take on classic Chinese. The garlic chicken was the standout dish for me, although the pork spring rolls were a very close second. Modern design, Saturday night was busy and loud but atmosphere was great.
