Sam's on the Waterfront
What a fabulous way to end a Friends Weekend. Brunch on the water was a perfect ending. Service was great, food phenomenal.
Really enjoyed our evening there however it was Friday night with live music and it was a bit loud and difficult to talk over. Lovely setting and very good food and service. We would certainly go back when we are visiting the area again.
Excellent find!!! I will definitely be returning... This place is a hidden jewel.
Sunday brunch for restaurant week
Fantastic location on the water. Cool view
You are in a gated community but the attendant gives you a parking pass and is very friendly

Crab bisque soup was excellent

The appetizers were great. The meal lacked flavor but we thought it was brunch but it wasn’t!!
Sams on the Waterfront is a great place to eat. This was our first time here and we were impressed. We were seated quickly and served quickly. Also our food came out quickly , tasty and hot. Our sever was very friendly and helped us to pick good entrees for the night. We will definitely be returning.
I was pleasantly surprised with my experience there..I hadn't been there in a very long time ! I was worried it was going to be super expensive, but it wasn't. They had some very reasonable choices, but the menu choices are not huge...but good decent choices...You can find something. What I liked the most besides the food being good and reasonably priced, was the ambiance was excellent ! There was a duo playing music and they were great & made the time spent there extra nice ! The bar looks inviting, so I plan to go back and enjoy eating and listening to music again !
A bit of a mix up on the reservation, manager took care of it quickly. Great food and service as always.
Best Valentine's Day experience! We loved the friendly staff and patrons, too. The meal was delicious.
First time visit was Valentines day (and SO's birthday). The menus looked delicious and we shared each offering for the first 2 courses. First, I want to say that the food was well prepared and delicious. Several courses came out cold, but since the food seemed cooked properly, I will assume that the real issue was service. The food was poorly paced, wrong courses were brought to the table and 2 of the 3 hot courses came out cold (not at the proper temperature). We had a manager come by and try to make things right but even he made us a promise that was not followed through. Its a shame because if the food is really as good as we believe, management and service has made us not likely to return. The music that night was good and the restaurant has a good wine list. My SO's dessert had a candle for her birthday, so that was one thing they remembered. We asked to see their regular menu but that never happened. By the end of the night, we really just wanted to leave. The manager told us that our table was the only one that had a problem that night (although our server brought a wrong dish to the table next to us) so maybe we just had a bad experience. But a bad experience on a first experience does not bode well.
My husband and I went for Valentine's Day and enjoyed their fixed price menu. We had a table by the water and fantastic service. The food was delicious. There was a 2 piece band playing in the bar area which was a nice touch -- not too loud. Prices were a bit on the high side but it was Valentine's day, and again, the food was very good.
Those donut holes are amazing! Views were fabulous Service was excellent Bloody Mary mix was perfect!
Very quiet. Very few patrons while we were there. A gentleman on guitar singing was just the right amount of volume to enjoy. Food was really good.
Everything was great: food, service, ambiance, value. We will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful time experience and can’t wait to return! We had a large group and some food allergies and small children on our group and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. Our meal was wonderful from appetizers to dessert!!
Excellent service and the Bloody Mary bar and Chesapeake Benedict should not be missed!
Outstanding food & exceptional service! We plan to return someday.
Great food and service. Band was a bit loud.
Awesome annual Oyster Fest. We lost v Sam's anytime of the year!
We came to enjoy lunch on the water and this restaurant was quiet and food was decent. Calamari was very good.
I think our food was pretty over priced for what we got, though.
Took friends and family for New Year's Eve dinner and celebration. Food, entertainment and waterfront view made for a memorable evening.
Excellent food at New Year’s Eve prix fixe dinner. Service very prompt & professional, but not rushed.
New Year’s Eve and we had a wonderful meal.
The crab cake and lobster mac and cheese are fantastic! We had a great dinner by the water with great service.
Thank you so much for a wonderful dinner!
We always enjoy the setting but the food was mediocre. No, let me change that: The cream of crab soup was awful. Salty beyond belief, thick with flour and very little crab. We couldn't eat it. Fish and Chips was average at best. Server was pleasant.
Got the fish and chips. The batter on the fish was shoggy.
Service was great, the band was nice. Would go back again.
Sams made such a great anniversary for me and my girlfriend.. Amazing food! Kinda drafty so just bring a jacket.
Went for thanksgiving. The food was kind of cold. They ran out of bread. Plates took awhile to be cleared.
We have been to Sam's several times before but it has been quite a long time. We had a pretty good experience with them in the past but this was not one of them. We went on Thanksgiving day for their Prix Fixe 4 course dinner. We waited nearly 15 minutes for anyone to even check us in for our reservation. We were seated and ordered drinks. We were asked to order all 4 courses at once so they could plan it all out.
Most of the food came out pretty good but my Wife's "poached" egg on her bruschetta came out very obviously hard boiled as it was perfectly round (this should have easily been caught before leaving the kitchen) the waitress acted like nothing was wrong but eventually returned it to the kitchen and brought her a new one.
Portion sizes were much smaller than I expected for the cost of the meal. I can deal with small portions if the food is absolutely amazing but it just wasn't.
The waitress rushed us through our whole meal. Our next course was frequently brought out before we we're finished eating the course before. Our desert was laid out on our table before either of us were done with the main course and my wife wasn't even half done.
We were handed the check before desert was completed and felt rushed to get out of there.
I was even more put off by the fact that the restaurant felt the need to add mandatory 20% gratuity so we could not tip according to the less than stelar service we received.
We will not be returning to Sam's on the waterfront.
Food was excellent. Bloody Mary bar was excellent. The waiter was nice but was not familiar with the sparkling wine list and seemed poorly trained.
Excellent service and great food!
Best rockfish dinner I have ever had, and I've had a few. Kudos to the new chef!
Great view of marina, great food and great service.
Great dining, food was excellent, service great! Wine list impressive. Love the atmosphere and want to come back for brunch and summer on the waterfront! Thoroughly enjoyed dinner. It was a bit loud for my husband with the live music but that enhanced the experience. Music was perfect dinner music. All in all a great first time at Sam's!
Terrible experience!! Loud bar, limited menu, very poor food, bad lighting, possibly trying to hide the run down appearance of the inside. We should have walked out before we sat down. I ordered panko encrusted rockfish. What was served was NOT rockfish. I think it was tuna but it was too dark to tell. It was dry and tasteless and the risotto it was served on was like glue. My husband ordered the rib roast which was very poorly prepared. Our daughter had the salmon which she politely said was okay. We will never return nor would we ever recommend this restaurant to anyone. Since our visit we have had several people, upon learning where we went for dinner, comment that they wished we had asked them. They said they would never recommend it to anyone. One friend who had lived at Chesapeake Harbor said that residents never went to Sam's because it was so poor. Needless to say, we will never go back nor would we ever recommend it to anyone. A very disappointing birthday dinner!!! We are well experienced at dining in excellent restaurants locally, nationally and internationally so know what to expect in a good restaurant.
The food was nice, some of the items on the menu were unavailable because of the brunch crowd and my rockfish was a little overcooked (only food miss, everything else tasted great). Bathrooms were not clean
Had a very good experience. Food was delicious. Just a little too chilly with the air conditioner.
We selected Sam's, a favorite restaurant of ours, because its tables are widely spaced making it good for conversation and we have enjoyed the ambiance (on the water) and food on previous visits. What a disappointment!! Although we were seated at some distance from the bar and its live music, the singer was quite loud. However, the band left well before we finished dinner. We ordered 3 items to share: a caesar salad, which was fine--and large; fried oysters and a seafood pasta. The "oysters" consisted of a lot of fried items but the oysters were either very small or in at least one case, non-existent. by the time we finished the appetizers we were the only people at the tables. Yet it took the better part of an hour for our pasta dish to be served. It was separated in two dishes with an extra plate for shells as it should be. But the very large scallops were cold. We returned the dishes to the kitchen and it took 10 or 15 additional minutes to be reheated. The seafood pasta now was quite good. We complained to the manager about the "oysters" and the long wait for food. He comped the food. (We also had a bottle of wine.) Because the manager made up for the experience, we will definitely return and hope that future meals will be up to Sam's usual standards.
