So slow tonight. Close to 2 hours to get food. Like this place but need to make service more of a priority.
The lettuce in my dinner salad came out wilted and brown in many spots so the server took it away. A new salad was brought out after my family finished their meal. Th restaurant was not busy and there was no compensation or apology for the inconvenience.
We were 3 couples visiting Annapolis for the weekend. I remembered seeing the photo of Sam's last Spring when we visited, so we went there this time around. There was a table of 8-10 behind us and they were noisy and not too thoughtful to the waitress. We thought she was wonderful.
The food was fabulous, especially the Cream of Crab soup. It was a fun evening with good friends.
A wonderful afternoon respite on a rainy day. Good food; no rush.
Very good restaurant. The food was fantastic. Would defiantly recommend.
We I hate to say anything negative. Service, food and ambiance was very good. I hesitate because the manager came by to tell us about the special chef, but nothing was that special. Our friend had crab Benedict but could barely find the crab. Explained the very reasonable price, but more crab for a few more dollars would be better. Crab cake was good but crab cakes are good.
I would have given this restaurant 5 stars had it not been for dessert. Everything was going well- the appetizer was fabulous- wings with sesame barbecue sauce and the main course- crab and lobster pasta was great too. Food was quick and came out hot.
Then we asked for dessert. My husband wanted cherries jubilee which is a tableside dessert. After about 30 minutes of waiting, and getting several replies from our waiter that supplies were being gathered and that they had run out of vanilla ice cream, he asked if we wanted another dessert option, and we ordered key lime pie for me and peach cobbler for my husband.
This was taking about another 15 minutes when we called over the manager who proceeded to tell us that they had run out of vanilla ice cream and had to go to Giant to buy some more.
So my husband got the vanilla ice cream on the peach cobbler.
The manager did comp us our desserts which is why I gave 3 stars and not 2.
However, they should not advertise that they have a tableside dessert if they cannot deliver the product as it should be.
Wonderful time at Sam’s!
We were so impressed with our server, Danielle. We came with our new baby and our six-year-old and she did a wonderful job of making sure everyone in our party was comfortable and well fed. We ordered delicious versions of the eggs Benedict – not to miss, especially the Chesapeake version with crab on top.
I’d give the meal a C-. My arugula salad was made with old arugula so it was kinda tough. The crab soup was excellent but everything else was unremarkable
Good view of the docks and harbor.
First visit and I have to say, I will be returning. Wonderful atmosphere, great food and diverse environment!
New manager went out of his way to find us a wonderful bottle of bubbly. Can't wait to visit again!
It was awful. Your waitress was very disorganized. Never brought bread until we asked for it. The pasta dish was so dry, had no flavor. For $26, you would probably expect better when it comes to pasta. It had hardly any sauce on it. Waitress never came to check on the meal until we were done, people who had pasta would have asked for more sauce. Took also forever to get the wine (even for a Friday night, place wasn't that packed). I made reservations through opentable. When we got there, I asked to me moved next to the windows, they said they couldn't accommodate, while there were at least 4 tables empty by the windows. Waitress said these are reserved, I pointed out that I made reservations too, no dice. When we left, those same 4 tables were still empty....VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE GIVEN THE PRICE
We are so sad to see Sam’s nose dive the way it has. It has so much potential. It’s been going downhill for a while, but this visit was awful. 1hr45min to get a salad and then the entire mains order was wrong or extremely poorly prepared. The manager did take care of the check, but unfortunately this wasn’t an anomaly. We won’t be taking a chance here again.
The brunch menu is limited, the kids’ menu has no breakfast food options, our service was lacking, my soup was delayed because “the machine” wasn’t working (I canceled it), and the food we received wasn’t great at all. The only redeeming quality is the location, but that won’t be enough for us to return.
Tried: kids’ cheeseburger (dry and they forgot the cheese), lobster roll (some of the meat was mealy), and Chesapeake Benedict (nothing amazing, just okay).
Everything was very nice - quiet location, good service, very good food, great entrainment with Peter James, fresco dining. Will go back back again.
Don’t bother. Plenty of other waterfront restaurants in the area.
The place is in a great location and nice waterfront view with plenty of parking. Food is overpriced and very small portions. Did not help that our server did not do a great job talking up the food items. But there was nothing overwhelmingly good and would probably suggest another waterfront restaurant in a similar price point to get better food.
Location is wonderful looking out at the water and boats in the marina. Food was above average and tasty. Service, however, was almost nonexistent. One server for the entire dining room which only had four tables of guests.
I always visit this place when I am in Annapolis and the weather is nice! Good food, not your ordinary local joint, but with that very familiar feel!
Live small Bands are singing over the weekend, with nice outdoor seating and service usually very good at this place!
Had a great time..food portions are very big. You can enjoy good food on a great day with a nice view on the water.
Atmosphere: cozy and warm, with a beautiful view and waterfront tables. Not too large or noisy, but not stuffy. Service: Very good, timely but didn’t rush us. Wine list: affordable with a good selection of wines from all over the world. Food: fried oyster appetizer had a tad too much breading on them for our taste, but otherwise were big and juicy, not overcooked. Crab cake dinner was superb. 95% crab, perfectly seasoned, not overcooked. One of the best restaurants in Annapolis and not overpriced.
We were concerned , why we were the only patrons in the restaurant for a Sunday brunch
After being seated, waited 10 minutes for a server, but I asked the bartender for drinks she made them but they sat there a few minutes and the ice melted. The server brought us waters, and. I said we're ready to order, he said ill be right back 10 mins later.... we got an appetizer, took 10 mins, asked for the check and a box, brought the check but no box. We just left. Lesson learned, never again
I was bit disappointed because I went specifically to get a lobster roll and they were out of lobster. I ordered the scallop entrée which was tasty but seriously a huge plate, 4 scallops and a puree and that was it. I was hungry when I left and the plate actually looked silly like it was missing something. There was a young man playing the guitar for entertainment on the deck where we sat. The waitress kept bringing more chairs to the bar people and began crowding our space where I had to actually say something about it. I was disappointed that I brought someone who had never been and this was their first experience with the place, I doubt they will be back.
Good food, nice staff and a wonderful view of the marina.
We were a party of five and the food, service and ambiance were very good. We were there on a rainy afternoon and the view helped to raise our spirits.
My only comment was that the coffee was not hot, so our excellent server had to brew fresh pots of both decaf and regular.
We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back
We went to Sam’s to celebrate Mother’s Day. On the positive side, the crab cakes were great. However, the prix fixe dinner was not a great value. The choices were very limited and there was no bread service, nothing special about the menu. The service was painfully slow and it was as though they didn’t think anyone was coming for dinner. There are so many good options in the Annapolis area that I would not recommend this place. It was way too expensive given what it was.
The location was great. We found this gem as a last minute Mother's Day celebration. The staff was great. The manager took family pictures of us on the water and gave us a great table with a view. Tyler, our waiter made sure that we had what we needed. The only issue was the food and drinks. The pasta dish had no flavor although the actual seafood in it was amazing. The cocktails were very watered down. We may return when they offer a full menu as we enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and not having to deal with a large crowd or long wait to eat. Again, hopefully, the menu improves.
It was a first for Sam's on the Waterfront. The food was good, the service was good. Nothing blew me away. Yes, the word "waterfront" is in the name, but it is on a small docking area, so lots of boats coming and going and some water view. Not on the bay and no vista. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The filet mignon was solid, cooked accurately. Mashed potatoes were buttery and salted. The crab cakes were four crab balls and they were very good, lots of crab meat, very little filler and quite tasty! The asparagus was okay, more of the stalk could have been removed. The "creme brûlée" was actually a slice of cheesecake with caramel sauce drizzled over it. No sense in calling it creme brûlée, that's not what it is. The absolute highlight of the meal was the chocolate torte. Delicious and decadent, this gluten free option was dense and so rich. The chocolate was smooth and slightly sweet, but not overpowering. Delicious! I don't know that I'd go back, but I enjoyed my meal. Thanks!
I arrived at the restaurant for Mother's Day with high expectations. I left utterly disappointed . Totally unimaginative prix fixe menu which was overpriced and poorly prepared. Quite a disheartening trifecta. Although the service was good Master Chef JUNIOR would have been disappointed in both the presentation and the food itself. Don't even get me started on the burnt potatoes. Five blueberries, a raspberry, and a spoon of cream on a plate counted as "a fresh fruit bowl". I thought I was in kindergarten learning my 123's again. The crab was fresh but insipid. One stale english muffin was sliced between 2 people along with unmemorable eggs. Arrived at a late hour (betweeen lunch and dinner) and even though the food had almost run out, was told the kitchen couldn't accommodate the dinner menu. Pork and shellfish are the only choices. I'm rooting for Sam's on the Waterfront BUT occasions like today should be examplary. Unfortunately it was abysmal. Get it right guys, you can do it.
Mother’s Day celebration with my significant other.
Donuts served as appetizers were scrumptious. We went for mother's day meal and all the entrees were delicious. Dessert was goo but we ordered creme brulee but received a cheesecake. Not cool.
Expensive, small portions, ok food, ok service
We went with 4 adults and 2 children for Mother's Day Brunch. The brunch menu was very limited in selections: choice of 2 appetizers, 5 entrees and 3 desserts. The appetizer choices were donuts (which is really a dessert and berries (tiny portion). The price was $33.00 per person. We were with a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old and they wanted to charge the same price for them and did not have a children's menu available. I made the waiter ask the manager about this and they did offer eggs and bacon for kids at 1/2 price. Giving it was mothers day with a very limited menu they should have had some provision in advance for kids. The view is nice and the restaurant is comfortable. I might try it with the full menu available in the future.
There was an accident on 50 (a helicopter landed) so part of the party was late. Sam's was very kind in letting us push the reservation back. Outside was much busier than inside. Bartender Josh was super great. The waitress was very nice but not very good at alerting us to an issue. The rain came (I knew, I was watching the weather report) and everyone from outside came inside. This threw off the kitchen. We waited over an hour for dinner. Only after making a few comments did the Assistant Manager, not the Manager came over to speak with us. Offered a round of drinks, I just wanted food, but held my tongue until after getting food. The food was EXCELLENT. After we ate the Assistant Manager came back over to speak with us. He was very nice and a bit dramatic, although, if I hadn't seen him doing shots with the bartender earlier in the evening I could have taken him seriously and not felt like I was being told the story of a lifetime. Sam's did buy us dessert. Again the dessert was excellent. In the reservation, I mentioned it was a birthday celebration but that was skipped over and we didn't bother to follow through. We have been to Sam's many times it has always been our celebration go to. This is a wonderful place, with excellent food. The outside is delightful to sit and eat. The inside is lovely with perfect views.
It was pleasant. It was small But since it was raining badly everybody was inside and there is no opportunity to be outside. We were surprised it was not more in a central
It was obvious that they did not have enough help but the help did the best that they could do. Service was very slow.
Food is not well seasoned. The crab cakes don’t have a taste. They needed old bay or something. The crab soup tasted bitter sweet. I think it may have been the wine used?
The service was poor. Doesn’t seem to be organized on which server has which tables. It looked like a guessing game. Food took long to be served although didn’t appear too busy.
The bay view doesn’t compensate for all the negatives
The new menu is quite tasty. Keep up the good work!
Great waterfront restauran. Rock fish was fabulous! Live music outside on deck on weekends. Enjoy the fun relaxed atmosphere outside but if you want a more formal dinner atmosphere recommend having dinner inside.
