Took my mom out for the afternoon tea. Food was fantastic! The little sandwiches were really good and the pastries were great. My only complaint about the food was the bread was a little dry on the sandwiches. The teas were lovely as well.
Service was… fine. My biggest complaint was that it was really slow. I don’t know if that’s how long their tea service normally is or there was something else going on, but it seemed to be taking s while for everyone. The time between the tea being served, the sandwiches being served, and the pastries was really long. Overall we were there for 2 hours. It took about a half hour before my water was refilled, but to be fair I did have tea. It also took until we were almost done for the tea to be refreshed with hot water and by that time it was lukewarm for a while. We weren’t told what the sandwiches were, which would have been nice, and the man who brought the pastries out described some of the items incorrectly so there was some type of miscommunication there. However the other woman who was on service was very knowledgeable. All that being said, everyone was friendly and helpful.
Personally, I think it was a little overpriced. Considering the price was on par with The Palace Hotel’s, I think the standards need to be a little higher. I thought tea was enjoyable, but not enjoyable enough to pay nearly $200 for 2 after tip. I am interested in coming back for dinner though.
