This was my first visit. I found the food to be really great - especially the lamb chops (thick and well-trimmed) and ethereal donuts.
Service was friendly but there were long waits between courses when I felt abandoned. Perhaps it was because I was at the end of the counter.
Lighting was to dim for me. I couldn't see my food in detail.
Kitchen Istanbul is a gem in the Inner Richmond neighborhood. Excellent food with a good mix for both meat eaters and vegetarians. My friend and I shared several appetizers this time and found them all yummy! My favorite was the grilled shrimp with shishito peppers and of course the Meze trio of spreads with their outstanding pita bread. Interesting selection of wines that pair well with the food. The people who work here are really nice and knowledgeable about the food too. I like how the tables are spaced so that you don't feel like you're on top of other diners too. Makes for good ambiance.
Very good overall - No alcohol license yet but I didn't miss it! Have the Hibiscus lemonade - perfect level of sweet. The Alinazik angus tenderloin skewer was also 5 stars as was the bread esp when we dipped it in the olive marinade from the olive plate. Get the Kopoglu as an excellent garlic yogurt sauce but don't expect a lot of eggplant. Service was timely and helpful. Elegant decor for our anniversary.
