We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday night, but we were seated right away, but inside on the second floor. There was a bachelor party taking up the outdoor space and the indoor space was filled with a bachelorette party. First the wait staff took our order before the larger parties. Then the owner came up to make sure we were ok sitting there. She said "we will make room for you someplace else so don't feel like you have to stay here" we did stay at that table and enjoyed the entertainment of people watching. Will definitely return as the food was quite good and the service outstanding!
The staff was great as well as the dinner. It was slightly overpriced for what I am used to.
Very nice restaurant. Good food. My only complaint is that the oil in the deep fat fryer needs to be changed. The fried calamari had a burnt taste from old oil.
We were pleasantly surprised with the menu and the the friendly staff. The meals were excellent. Definately come back again.
I visited Sandstone around 5pm on a Thursday. It was not very busy at all. I had a little bit of warning that the outside did not quite match the interior--totally true. My husband remarked that it looks like an old Sirloin Stockade and has a big cow statue near the front on the roof. The inside looks very well done and much nicer, though, and definitely qualifies as fine dining but with a more relaxed dress code (casual dress is fine).
My husband ordered the filet with rice, which was perfectly cooked and he very much enjoyed. I got the Seafood Trio (lobster, scallops, and shrimp) with potato wedges, plus a glass of Sawmill Creek Autumn Blush. Everything was delicious. I tend to find things too salty or too peppery, but everything was made to perfection.
Barry, our excellent server, brought my husband a slice of cheesecake with a candle since it was his birthday. We were both surprised at how great the cheesecake was. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting.
It was a bit of a walk from our hotel--Holiday Inn by the Falls--a little over a mile. Not too bad, but it's very hilly on the way back (and we were very full), so it was harder headed back. They have their own lot for parking, so if you're not up for it, do drive.
My sister in laws meal was very good but I got a wedge salad with a side of steak which was extremely tuff and has a strange flavor....overall, it was a huge disappointment considering it cost $32 for the salad with a steak add on....our waitress was very sweet but again...I left feeling very disappointed.
Great food outside
What a great night!! It was my first time at the Sandstone, but it definitely won't be my last. The food was incredible and our server was awesome. So attentive!! Perfect night for the patio too!!
Always my go-to restaurant when I'm in the area. The nine of us ate there for my daughter's graduation and we had many dishes from steak to salmon and they we're all excellent. Nice place to go where you can actually talk to the people your dining with without yelling. You can tell that this is a family-run restaurant rather than a factory franchise. Thank you for a great evening.
My favorite restaurant in Niagara Falls. I love the beet salad with goat cheese and candied walnuts. Fillet mignon melts in your mouth. Atmosphere is relaxing. Service is second to none.
They have a very nice selection of steaks and Italian food. There is something for everyone.
We enjoyed our meal at Sandstone Grill. Our water was personable and friendly, and he offered help with menu selection. Our meal was yummy, large portions and great flavor! The steak and chicken cordon bleu were both excellent choices. Great place for couples, families and large groups. The patio seating seemed nice but it was too cool for us to sit outside!
Very friendly atmosphere, generous portions and the best Greek salad. I’d go back for this alone! Had the classic shared meal and it was prepared to our order. It was a lot of food for 2 people but they were happy to pack it up. I will return and will definitely order the Greek salad.
The smoked salmon appetizer was delicious but the chicken was bland and steak was under cooked.
Our server Emesia was welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable about menu items. Atmosphere was romantic, even though there were a variety of people dining in (families, parties, other couples). The food was delicious, and reasonably priced. It was our first time there, and we will definitely be coming back upon our next visit to Niagara.
We are steak lovers and this is THE BEST, hands down. The keg is just lowly cousin to this.
The food and service was excellent. Not a single complaint in our group of 8. Cassie was our server and was happy to help with our needs. She even surprised my husband with a birthday cheesecake!
The food was excellent. Service was great. We went pretty late in the evening and the staff was not impatient at all.
I've been going to this restaurant for over 20years. It's the number one restaurant in Niagara Falls. The food is fabulous no matter what you order. It was my birthday and i usually order fillet mignon. It melted in my mouth. The service is excellent. This is locally owned and the owner and cook and wait staff really care about their customers. You will be impressed!
Came to Niagara for a date night with my boyfriend and saw great reviews for this restaurant and decided to check it out. It did not disappoint! Great food especially the crabcakes appetizer and even the garlic bread! I ordered parmesan chicken with mushrooms for my entree and even though I don't normally enjoy tomato based red sauce this dish was an exception, so good! Also enjoyed the lava cake dessert. Our server (Don? I didn't catch his name but that was the name on the receipt) was a delight, very friendly and personable. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to come back and try other dishes next time we're in town!
Really nice spot, food was great. It was very busy, so we had to wait for a table for about 10 mins (with a reservation), but sat at the bar and had a drink which was nice. When we were seated though, we waited a while for our waitress, she took our food order right away and didn't come back. Empty glasses sat out, could not get her to look in our direction so finally went to the bar to get our own drinks (after about 10 mins of waiting for her to notice). Felt like we were at the "pay no mind" table - everyone around us got drinks, bread, their appetizers...and nothing for us. Ultimately it was fine, the food more than made up for the mediocre service, and our waitress was very nice (and busy, which we understand). The bill was super reasonable as well. Would definitely go back.
The food was tasty and plentiful.
The service was friendly and efficient
Its was a quite night but the atmosphere was still good
Every year we go to Niagara for New Years, this year we tied Sandstone.........OMG food was excellent service was outstanding. I have told everybody about it. Will I go back ABSOLUTELY.
Thank you for making our new years one to remember with the great start with great food.
We were a bit late as we were lost on the way there but the host was very understanding and was very welcoming. The service was very good as they made sure we were having a good time. Food was very good, app+soup+main was on point. Steak was very good, would order it again.
Been to Sandstone numerous times...always great food, friendly staff...will go again
Food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Very friendly staff. Would definitely go back.
We were visiting Niagara Falls for the night for my wife's birthday and thought we'd try this out. I'd say that the reviews did not disappoint....it was quite good. Service was good. Nice restaurant (cozy - not a big/commercial feel to it) and we were seated at a table that felt somewhat private and out of the way. STarted off with nice appetizers - absolutely loved the crispy calamari. Nice wine list - with red wine prices reasonable. I got nice steak and wife got salmon, both very nicely done. Took a tad long to get the bill at the end but overall I think it was a positive experience and I'd definitely recommend it to others.
Had some friends over from out-of town, so we talked them into joining us at Sandstone's. They had never been there before, but we had told them that it was a nice place for dinner. We tried not to "play up" Sandstone's too much, because our friends routinely travel, and have seen plenty of nice restaurants. But it didn't take long for them to be impressed. By the end of the meal, they couldn't stop talking about it. "Why haven't we heard about this place?" "This food is amazing!" It made US look good too, because our friends have been complimenting us on our "great choice" for a restaurant.
Grear friendy service and great food.
Owner comes by to say hi
We were in Canada visiting from the US on our Anniversary and brought our kids along. The food was amazing and the restaurant easy to find. Very close to the Falls tourist area - where we were hanging out for a few hours before dinner. Talked with the owner - Danny - who was a delight! Our service was wonderful. Food prepared fresh and came out at just the right temp. Our 13 and 10 year sons found something that they really enjoyed (not always easy!). My husband and I enjoyed the Prix Fixe menu, which was a great value - I sure left feeling full!! thanks - we will be back.
Great restaurant on edge of downtown. Staff was really nice, service so good, and food was SO delicious! We are from Chicago and have high standards on food...they definitely met our expectations!
We had a great server with personality and he had great suggestions.
We were glad we gave it a try and will return.
We had a great time here. The restaurant lived up to our expectations! Highly recommended!
Sandstone Grill is a great jewel among the many restaurants along Victoria Avenue in Niagara Falls, Canada. The staff are friendly and treat you like a member of their family. The food was varied and delicious. There were so many options to choose from it was difficult to decide. My husband had a seafood special which he liked and I had the lasagna. We had a friend who's Italian grandmother taught her to make lasagna for Christmas dinner. Her lasagna was the best I have ever had. The lasagna at Sandstone Grill is probably equal to hers!!
Small bonus is the free parking in their lot if you are lucky enough to get a space.
The bartender is by far best. My Wife has a pineapple allergy and he sterilized almost everything in the bar before he made her drink and brought it to her himself. Our food was also amazing.
Surprised to find a spot outside of NYC that served such great steaks.
Got off to a bit of our rough start due to a 20 top seated before us and waited 35 minutes for a drink...but after we FINALLY saw our regular server and explained to her our angst...she saved the night and provided excellent service.
Food was average...feel the OpenTable reviews are a bit high.
While the food seems slightly overpriced, it was very good and the atmosphere and wait staff make the price tolerable. I liked that it is removed (yet walkable) from the tourist traps of downtown and our waiter was one of the best.
Excellent time on our anniversary food was amazing and our server we'll you couldn't ask for a better one
We were in a niagara falls and I chose this restaurant due to favourable reviews. All round excellent !!A must to when we go again
Reviews all looked good so we tried it. Monday, September 11. Great Food, steak better than the Keg, which we tried the night before. Prices were reasonable, somewhat casual atmosphere with high quality food. Server was fantastic. We were happy. I would point out that we bought an all inclusive meal for 2 for $89, and server told us the dessert was included but when we received the bill, we were charged extra for the dessert.(Lava cake was the best we have had!) That was a bit deflating, but we didn't approach the server about it to try and rectify it, just paid the bill. Not the end of the world. Make a reservation, we would have been turned away if we didn't have one. We would eat here again, and recommend it to anyone travelling to Niagara Falls.
