Sasa is a Japanese inspired restaurant in Walnut Creek. Izakaya Restaurants are traditional small plate restaurants where friends go to have a drink and unwind after a long day. Situated in the historic 100 year old building that for many years housed the Walnut Creek Meat Market, this architectural jewel has been transformed into a ambiance that wows and invites guests to stay and enjoy the dining experience at SASA. Chef/Owner Philip Yang prepare Japanese influenced dishes from around the world. The staff welcomes you into their house and offers up comfort, hospitality and fun. Every course was excellent. The scallops ceviche special dish was so unique and really delicious with fresh citrus flavor. The beet salad with Brie OMG melt in your mouth the salmon sashimi so fresh and delicious. Eggplant and cauliflower also were both delicious. Everyone was happy with their experience. Vegan guest also totally satisfied with her choices and staff accommodating her dietary needs. Great service from Louie. Jason thanks so much for your help in getting us a table

The manager of Sasa left us standing in front of her for over 5 minutes while she solved some seating problem. Not even hello or just a second completely ignored us...When she got ready she fianlly siad hello, how can I help you, first of all what a dumb thing to say...Service here has never been their strong point but food is very good.

This is by far our favorite sushi restaurant!! And many years later never disappoints us! The Sasa Roll and Walnut Creek Roll are always the best! Our service has always been prompt, helpful and professional! Can’t wait to go back again soon!

We arrived exactly on time for a 6:30 reservation. After checking in and waiting 25 minutes we inquired about our table, and were told that they were waiting to seat 7:00 reservations before we would be seated. There were several empty tables and so we asked if we could be seated at one of these but were told the tables (which had been empty since our arrival) had been assigned to other reservations and the hosts were unwilling to make any changes to the preset plan. We weren’t seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time. It was extremely disappointing that the seating process was such a poor experience and that there was no flexibility given the circumstances.

Sasa is the crown jewel of Walnut Creek. It has a unique spread of Japanese and Pan-Asian cuisine. Sushi and top-quality meats are on the menu. The ambiance is splendid. Truly a A+ experience overall.

Food was average, over priced. We came early and it took a long time for the drinks to be made although no one was there. Our waiter was great at the beginning then never came back. Staff all wore masks which made it very sterile and unwelcoming.

Fabulous….very cool ambiance. Waiter was awesome and made great suggestions. Food was amazing….beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. My son and husband had the Steak which comes with a heated stone to finish the searing. Very cool and quite delicious. Comes with sautéed spinach. They prob could have used rice or something else to go with it but they were pretty happy. My other son had Blue Fin tuna rolls that were gorgeous and very generous in portion size. I had the braised short ribs which was amazing….tender, flavorful, beautifully presented and just the right portioning. We shared the most exquisite and silky creme brûlée for dessert. Look forward to going back and trying some other dishes.

I love this place. I love the ambience. Beautiful decor. Great staff and everything we ordered was delicious. The food made me happy. It was all beautifully presented and fun. They printed Happy Anniversary on our menus and brought us each a glass of complimentary champagne to toast. Their cocktail menu is also fun and they have an extensive list of sake. We had a great night.

took the family for sushi at outdoor table last night at Sasa. Chris, our waitperson was his usual excellent self, and went above and beyond, bringing a birthday cupcake and candle to our soon-to-be 16-year old granddaughter. We never even prompted this, he just happened to hear our conversation around the upcoming date. And the sushi of course, was excellent as it always is at Sasa!

I can't get enough of Sasa! And the new Head Chef Hakim is doing AMAZING things in that kitchen. Every bite we had was dreamy. Each flavor was present, but nuanced, to it all came together beautifully. Honestly, I'd eat here a few times a week if I could. Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff and bussers are also on point. You really need to get here!

Sasa has the best Asian food around, they could use more wait staff, the service is a little slow. The delivery of food was a little off also, the salad should come first usually and they delivered something we had already eaten. However, the food is absolutely amazing, the crowd enjoys themselves also.
