    Used to go here when it was the Bellair Cafe. Very pretty and comfortable inside still and a terrific place to meet for brunch. We had a great meal and very attentive service. Probably the best omelette I've every had and the herbs frites were sooo goooddd!

    Food quality was hit and miss. Caesar salad in particular was lousy, the chicken is good. Kitchen was very very slow to get the food out. Wait staff was fantastic but entrees took about 90 minutes

    Yet another amazing time at Sassafraz. Food and service were the usual….excellent! Our waiter (Fazal? Not sure of spelling) was a pleasure. My only regret was that the ribeye was sadly unavailable by the (late) time we ordered. Unsurprisingly, the fillet was also quite good…so it all worked out. Great job, again!

    Dined at sassafraz for dinner with family. I was so happy to see scallops on the menu the dish was delicious. So was everyone's main courses. Sassafraz is the best restaurant in the city for a perfectly cooked steak. Great service and atmosphere as well.

    The food was excellent. Two of our group of 5 had eggs benedict with salmon and it was perfect. The roasted vegetables and salad served along side the eggs were really delicious. The server did not hear one of our guests ask for her diet coke when she was taking our beverage orders however a second server delivered the diet coke when a second request was made. Two people in our party requested appetizers and they were given the option of having them arrive with their main course or in advance. Everyone at our table was served at exactly the same time which was lovely. Two people in our party were lactose intolerant and often that means no dessert. We were pleasantly surprised to find a goat cheese offering on the menu so we were very happy. I thought there would have been more options available for Sunday brunch but everyone in our group enjoyed what they chose.

    Menu choices were not that interesting. Chef had a heavy hand with the salt tonight. Everything was salty. It was nice to offer a complimentary dessert but the flourless hotcake was too dense. The vanilla ice cream at least was yummy.

    Food was absolutely wonderful and the ambiance of the restaurant is lovely, & not too nosy. The service left much to be desired. Our waiter was very inattentive. They seemed to forget we were even there. Such a lovely restaurant with delicious food; it would have been nice had the service matched.

    Awesome, as always! The hummus is the best I’ve ever had (and, I’ve had plenty in my 60 years). The rest of the food was great as well, my vegan daughter loved the eggplant dish! Just go and enjoy….considering the Yorkville location, the prices are quite reasonable for the level of food quality and service.

    The food and service is always excellent. I was disappointed that the duck pate was not currently on the menu. It is one of my favourite things there. Hopefully it will be added back. Otherwise we had a fantastic meal!

    But as good as usual. Main restaurant had a private event and this definitely impacted quality of food. Didn’t get the table I had email confirmation of…which was a disappointing start.

    Sassafraz was one of my favourite restaurants. This visit didn't measure up to previous experiences. Service was adequate and cordial. The food was not exceptional. The burrata was firm and my duck was a bit tough. Disappointing for an evening I was really looking forward to.

    Menu is extremely limited and food seriously underwhelming. No sauces provided with any dishes other than ketchup! Makes for one of the most unimaginative dining options out there.

    We went to Sassafraz for our anniversary dinner and the main course was not good. My wife had salmon and the salmon was thin and dry, the broccoli looked to be frozen food. I had the beef tenderloin and it was plan and covered in plain butter. We have been to Sassafraz several time before but this time was extremely disappointing. We will be trying other places moving forward.

    Once again, Sassafraz delivers! Amazing service by Saba, and so nice to see our good friend Amir again! We are always made to feel like we are at home here, and there is no more consistently excellent dining available in the Yorkville area. The food, the service, the vibe, the decor…you name it. All 5 star! What else can be said…if you want the best, you need look no further.

    Without question one of my favorite Yorkville restos. Everything is always to perfection including the service. The Caesar salad is a favorite and highly recommended. This restaurant is great for people watching and the fall / winter ambiance is cozy and romantic. (Candles and dimmed lights) Great options for seating between the lounge and dining room. The summer patio is smallish, but like I said, great people watching. The music takes you back to the time of Yorkville’s hippie era (60s and 70s tunes) with wall art that depicts the way it was back then. The martinis are done well and like all restaurants that truly care about the patron’s experience, they permit us to bring our own wine. (I think the corkage fee is around 40ish dollars, which I think is fair) I highly recommend Sassy! (our pet name for this resto haha)

    We dine here quite frequently, and have yet to be disappointed. The service, food and ambiance is consistently very good to excellent. Value is a relative measure, but it is quite reasonable for what you receive in return, based on our diverse experiences in Yorkville. In a neighbourhood where “glitz” and the latest “hot spot” tend to overshadow great food and service, Sassafraz never fails to impress. Kudos to the staff, kitchen and management!

    The service was excellent and the open windows in the summer were very refreshing. The fries were good in the appetizer, but overall the food was bland. I had the salmon but it didn't have any seasoning. I asked for lemon, salt and pepper and had to fix the taste. The slow braised lamb was surprisingly dry. My husband didn't enjoy it. A bit disappointing overall for the food.
