   I was terribly disappointed with this lunch. The ambience in terms of the decor is so lovely and I have eaten wonderful dinners here before. But on this day the air was so cold that my friend and I left before coffee and went somewhere else as we were freezing. As well I ordered a carrot and arugula salad which was tasteless. It came with Labneh which I assume I was to mix through my salad as there was no other dressing that I could taste. It just formed lumps and the salad continued to be tasteless. I suppose I should have asked for some other kind of dressing but I was just disappointed and cold and wanted to leave. My friend seemed to like her burger but did not finish it and I never asked why. My "no" re recommendation applies to lunch.

   My party arrived on time and attended our reservation. Nonetheless, I received a notification that my OpenTable account was flagged as a “no show” for allegedly standing up our reservation. I received this notification while I was still at the restaurant, literally sitting at the table lol. I’ve never seen a restaurant do this. Not impressed, as the OpenTable email said this can apparently affect account status? (See attached screenshot.) Thankfully a server fixed it because I happened to still be at the restaurant when I got the email. Had I left I would have had to retain receipts and provide bank statements and go thru some inconvenient 30-day dispute process to fix my account being wrongly flagged. Even in person, I had to provide my name multiple times to the server and was still questioned as to “whether I arrived on time” (we arrived exactly on time), as if there was some justification to being falsely accused of standing up a reservation when I am sitting right in front of you and clearly did not stand you up lol. An immediate apology and rectification of the issue would have sufficed. I came to lunch to enjoy my day, not to have to go out of my way to defend myself when you are the one in error. The restaurant was half empty so this oversight was not about being “busy,” but more about a lack of respect for customer inconvenience and experience.

   The Server was lovely - topped water and wine regularly. Was fun and personable. We had the Watermelon Gazpacho and it was to die for. Followed by Oysters with all the garnishes to enjoy. Octopus was prepared perfectly. We finished with the Tuna Salad and Truffle Fries all paired with a lovely Dry Riesling. It was my first experience, I’ll definitely go back.

    Always an enjoyable experience to dine here. Unfortunately, today’s brunch service was not up to par and disappointing. However, upper management corrected the mishap efficiently and properly. We look forward to enjoying our next meal.

    Did not live up to our expectations. Service was slow, and we had to wait once seated for any wine/ drink menus or interaction with the wait staff. Wondered if they forgot about us. Had to remind wait staff to bring an item we had ordered. No attention to detail or checking in on our meal. If they had the item would not have been missed. Left an empty wine glass in front of an individual in our party who was not drinking wine. Waiter was very hospitable and friendly but overall felt we were not attended to. Food was average at best. I'm glad the menu items aren't over priced.

    I had family in from out of town. They could not stop singing the praises of their meal. It was also my mother’s birthday. She loved everything about the experience. Thanks! It is extremely noisy after about 6:30…which is why I always book for five.

    The service and restaurant was amazing. Food was definitely fresh and of great quality, though a bit pricey. We loved the salad we had that consisted of kale and butternut squash. The mojito and sangria was also excellent.

    restaurant and food good as always - noise is deafening making comfortable conversation impossible. Don't know why restaurants still maintain this faux-sense of a "buzz" about their place by creating an unbearably loud interior.

    The music was too loud and inappropriate for an older crowd. Every time our server turned it down she said the owners turned it back up. The crowd was not young in the dining room. A more mellow atmosphere would have been more appropriate.

    We had two very good vegetarian meals for lunch, the Sassfraz Wellness Bowl, and the Sumac Roasted Aubergine. Both were nicely presented, a good size, full of tasty ingredients. Our server was kind and attentive. A very pleasant business lunch.

    Beautiful restaurant with amazing bright scenery. The brunch menu was excellent. We had the steak and eggs (cooked exactly as requested) and burger which were both outstanding. The margarita's that we ordered were great. Stephen, which I believe was the manager that day made sure that we enjoyed our Mother's Day brunch with great hospitality and warmth. I cannot wait to come back to try the dinner menu. Chef's kiss xx

    Location, location, food , service - all above par Located at a focal corner in Yorkville, the service is attentive without being overbearing , knowledgable and friendly. The portions are generous and arrived on time and well prepared. Whether in the dining room, the bar area or outside on the patio, this is just a fun, enjoyable place to be

    Reservation was 12:30, service was incredibly slow, inattentive, and short on details. Upon arriving we waited 10 mins for water. Water arrives 8 mins later…then a long wait for our other drink. The waiter never asked for our food order, we had to tell him we need to give the food order, he then attended to another table first. Food was not hot. Requested lemon twice, got lime once and an apology much later. No offer to get us coffee/dessert. Food was pretty good despite not hot, but the service was simply inattentive (and that’s being very generous.).

    I had a lovely dinner catching up with old friends at Sassafraz. Our server Emil was personable, attentive and made us feel like VIPs. The food was delicious and the presentation beautiful. The dining room is very pretty, spacious and inviting. I would definitely return for dinner or lunch at Sassafraz.
