Sava's Restaurant, originally Sava's State Street Cafe, opened June of '07 at a small location across from our current space. We started small, every year adding, changing, and working with our customers to achieve an atmosphere and menu that we were proud of. The quaint cafe was merely a jumping off point for the elaborate expansion that later followed. In August of '09 we opened Sava's Restaurant in the beautiful location we're in today, making a name for ourselves based on great service, a young, welcoming atmosphere, & delicious dishes.
We cater to a wide range of clientele, including students, professors, townies, out-of-towners – we open our doors to everyone. From our eclectic menu our best dishes are homemade, with quality ingredients from local vendors. We like Michigan beef, produce, and beer! Join us and experience Sava's for yourself!

Sava's Ratings and Reviews
We had a fantastic waiter and everything about the brunch was delicious and fun. Our waiter is a natural with people and a real asset to our waiter is a natural with people and a real asset Sava’s.
The tree is beautiful! 🎄
I had a great dinner with a client and the Christmas decorations were spectacular. Nice work by Sava's.
We went to Sava's while visiting our son upon his recommendation. Wehad burgers which was very good and very resonably priced. The service was excellent. Overall, we were very satisfied with our dinner.
Absolutely delicious! The menu is small but the food, service, and overall environment was very enjoyable. We will go back!
We booked on Open Table and were seated straight away however we learned after we were seated we had 3 more guests coming to dinner ! Told the hostess and she made it work! THANK YOU FOR BEING SO HELPFUL FOR A SPECIAL CELEBRATION!
We enjoy Sava's every time we are in AA. We love this restaurant for the ambiance and incredible food.
I have been to savas many times. Sadly, this time was very disappointing. Our waiter told us that they are upgrading their menu. This was disappointing because there was not many options on the menu that they had. I ordered a sandwich and when it came out, it looked like an appetizer. It was very small. I was disappointed because I use to love coming to savas for a good meal but this time wasn’t it. I hope when the upgraded menus come out, I will be willing to go back but for right now, I’m not planning on going back.
Loved it. Very tasty. Creative food choices. Great service and atmosphere.
Great place...wide variety...good wine list...Excellent service with recommendations.
We always enjoy Sava for family gatherings. There is something for everyone! Great service and delicious food.
Pork and Kimchi nachos were amazing. Great atmosphere. Quite expensive - wine list very expensive.
We went to to Sava's to celebrate my friend's birthday. As I am from Cape Town, South Africa it was my first time ever visiting Sava's. Oh man! I just loved from the entrance to the whole ambiance of the place, the energy of and friendly disposition of the waiter, the well-prepared food, etc.... In fact, we all simply looooooved everything about the place and will certainly be back! Keep up the good work☺☺
Excellent service, our waiter was attentive, helpful, and nice. The Bistro omelette was delicious and would highly recommend. My friend got the sweet potato latkes which were very tasty. We had a seat upstairs overlooking the downstairs and it was very lovely.
Consistently great food and service. It is a campus fixture for brunches, lunches and dinner.
Nice place, good food, good service, central location. I will definitely come back.
Everything was great except that they had overbooked and wait times were long even if you had a reservation.
Service was awesome! We had an amazing waiter for our lunch. Salt and pepper fries, mac n cheese, bacon brie burger...food was excellent! Cocktails too!
We were there for a bite to eat before a concert at the Michigan Theater. Loved the food, the ambiance, and the service.
We went for lunch on a Sunday early afternoon before a show at the Michigan Theater. Luckily we made a reservation in advance as they were quite busy. Very friendly staff greeted us at the hostess stand, and our server was just delightful, very friendly and accommodating. All three of us had to decide between several options that all sounded wonderful. As busy as they were, we were finished in plenty of time to make our show on time. I would definitely go back (to try some of the things we didn't order!), and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sava's to friends.
We were disappointed that the menu does not change. Savas has always been the restaurant of choice for us when we visit Ann Arbor every year. Basically same menu and no specials. And quality of food seemed to decline.
This place is excellent. Unique, varied menu and great service.
We took our son (student at U of M) for a late dinner. Very interesting menu and everything we ordered (fish tacos, burger, Greek salad with salmon) was very good with large portions. Bang bang shrimp app was delicious too. Nice quiet place to talk and good service. Highly recommend.
Nice setting and atmosphere. But service, just ok. Water in our glasses had nets in both. Since staff wasn't writing down orders, several mistakes were made. My partners was offered refills but I wasn't, not once. The menu wasn't explained very well. But I might give another try, with different server, could've been very enjoyable.
Very disappointed with the overall experience. There were knats and fruit flies flying around the entire meal which were flying into our food and drinks. The waitress dismissed the bugs and said that it was because of the changing of the weather and said that other restaurants were experiencing the same thing. As if this weren’t enough, the sandwiches which are $12-16 do not even come with a side. Instead, you have to buy sides for an extra $5-7. Both sandwiches we had were mediocre at best and not worthy of another chance. Sorry to say we will not be back. Yeah
Good food, great service in a lively bar atmosphere.
We like to go before theater for its proximity to many venues. Efficient service, consistent nice varied menu both small and larger plates. Reservations strongly suggested if you have a show deadline
I’ve been going to Sava’s for the last five years when I visit Ann Arbor and had always enjoyed the menu and he food. On my last visit it seemed the menu had been downgraded and was not the same restaurant I had visited before. Coming from New York City I was always confident that Savas would provide an excellent meal (and a gluten sensitive one, since my son has Celiac disease). On this visit I felt it was an entirely different resteraunt - it had gone from a 5 star to a two as far as the food goes. Service was, as always wonderful.
Food was ok this time, but it has been better. Our waitress went awol for a bit so service wasn’t good. I had hoped Mac and cheese would have been better but it was very average. I’d think twice before going there again, especially with so many options to choose from.
The capellini marlon is heaven on earth
Had unexpected guests and they reseated us without issue--very thankful for that accommodation!!
Dinner for 5. Great food. Fresh ingredients. Unique choices. Food prompt out of kitchen
Very nice ambiance, menu with good selections for all. Service was a bit slow but the meal was excellent.
Appetizer was great, Ribeyes were over cooked. We ordered medium and medium rare and both were closer to well done (there was almost no pink at all). Ribeyes were still very tasty considering. Hopefully just a fluke during our visit. Service was good.
Energized cafe feel, great for brunch, food is not to die for especially sweet items may be a little too sweet.
One of the best meals I've had in a long while!
My favorite trendy upscale restaurant in Ann Arbor! No one compares to the eclectic vibe Sava’s has to offer.
Lively, airy restaurant with friendly and efficient service. Hippie bowl with tempeh was outstanding and priced fairly. French toast was like eating fried sugar. With all that sugar for the main course, no need to have dessert. But they did sound good. Will definitely return.
Good food, good service. Wait times can be long on weekend but that tells you its a good restaurant. I especially enjoy the brunch and they have excellent quality creekstone beef.
Good classic American fare and excellent service plus a convenient location make Sava's a nice place to meet friends for a casual meal.
