While the service was excellent, the food was not worth the money.
Servers were attentive; food presentation was very good; the dishes served were substandard, but somewhat understandable given the student involvement. We wish the best success to all the students!
The food took an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the table after bread was served. Yikes! The food was ok to pretty good depending on the dish. There wasn’t very many people in the restaurant so it was apparent the team was still learning which is ok. We just wished there were comment cards so we could leave notes on room for improvement.
We went to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were seated quickly and our server came over promptly for our drink order. We liked the menu selection which gave us plenty of options. I ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the lamb shank and while she enjoyed it, thought it could have more seasoning. A nice touch was a birthdate cake for my wife. We typically don't order dessert, but this was delicious.
Overall we would go back again, we thought the prices are quite reasonable for the quality. Plus we are happy to support the students.
I took a date here. The service was very good. Not too intrusive. They were timely with the service. Nothing was wanting. The duck was very good. My date had the ratatouille. Pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. It wasn't too pricey, and you can't beat the location for a nice walk by the Falls, before or after dinner.
I have been to student run culinary restaurants before and loved them. My expectations were high coming in. I can't say that my experience was all bad but some of it needed improvement. The restaurant itself is very nice and well appointed. The people we very pleasant and accommodating. The menu was somewhat limited but there was enough variety to explore something new. Drink service was good and prices of everything were reasonable. Our waiter was nice enough but I later found he clearly did not know his menu. My wife ordered the steak au poivre meduim, I the lamb after quizzing the waiter about the size of the medallions and if they were served in the rack or cut with bone in. He assured me they were good sized and cut with the bone in place.
Both meals came out smothered in brown gravy (not on menu) and were hard to tell apart. The steak had little to no pepper on it (au poivre) and the lamb was a leg shank, not a rib, that looked like a Turkey leg. I didn't know why they would serve such a thing. Dark greasy meat instead of a tender fillet. The gravy made it worse since you could not see where to cut the meat / fat / bone apart and could not hold it in the bowl. To top it off, the vegetable was a Brusselsprout served lightly grilled (almost raw) with no less than 35 of them... in a deep bowl with purple mashed potatoes (served ice cold) , lamb shanks and brown gravy over everything. I am not a fan of greasy lamb, cold potatoes, Brusselsprouts or bowls for dinner so this was a massive miss for me.
We both picked at my wife's steak which came out close to tar-tar... another big miss. By this time, the waiter could sense we were not happy and avoided our table rather than checking in with us. Another strike.
We left to find dinner elsewhere 100 bucks lighter and frustrated that such a nice venue had such little direction. This was a failure on the teaching and menu planing level, not the kids that came to cook and learn.
Excellent and unique; the NFCI staff is terrific. The menu is great and always different featuring local seasonal food varieties. Always a new and exciting dining experience!
Savor is a diamond in the rough"...nestled in a small updated area of downtown Niagara Falls, you get the feeling you've left the city and are in upscale restaurant in another city. I can't say enough about the menu that offers choices to tantalize anyone's palate and servers that make dining experience truly enjoble. This is my second visit and I look forward to going back to try one of other entrees (they update menu frequently).
Surrounding this restaurant there are renovated/restored buildings/storefronts. However, drive one or two blocks away and there are abandoned/boarded up buildings that give a very unsafe view of the city that houses the "seventh wonder of the world"...very poor impression !! Where does all the tax money go ...certainly hasn't been spent on improvements to the LOOK of Niagara Falls !
We went to Savor to celebrate my daughter-in-law's birthday. The restaurant was warm and inviting and the food was delicious! I have been there several times. The service and quality are always above average!
My expectations were that we would have creative choices, the menu offered basic entrees ( found elsewhere) but prices were pretty high.
Great 5 star service and hospitality. The food was all amazing and served up as though you were at an expensive downtown restaurant. Highly recommended to anyone looking to have a nice sit down dinner without the big bill
Amazing fine dining experience! Food was absolutely delicious.
Very good meal
Good was ok. Small space and pricey
We really enjoyed both the service and the food while in town for a conference. Would recommend!
Food Is a bit salty even I did request for less salt. Service is ok.
Our server was excellent. Very attentive. The food choices are limited but varied. Student run restaurant in the Niagara County Community College Culinary Institute.
The only bad part was the $5/hr parking on the street.
Savor is a wonderful place to get an excellent meal at a reasonable price. The students at the Culinary Institute prepare a varied selection of delicious, gourmet meals, including vegetarian options. The service is attentive and friendly. The students all deserve excellent grades for their efforts. We have eaten twice and fully expect to return the next time we travel to Niagara Falls, NY.
It was awesome and the food was absolutely amazing . it wasn’t too loud either.
Excellent menu, perfectly prepared meals, great location, and friendly staff. We had a memorable dining experience.
Our waiter, John, was awesome. The food was very good. John told us we were eating some of the new items added to the menu and asked us to let him know what we thought. We felt like food critics! Lol Needless to say we enjoyed our dinner completely. We would recommend this to everyone!
Expected it to be so much more than it was
Did not like menu options. Unless I wanted the burger?? Or $28 steak.
Had the rigatoni w pulled chicken. Too spicy
Pizza w figs was as not good either.
We were very disappointed.
The food was great and a different display than many restaurants. The service and staff was great. Pricing was fair.
A group of us had dinner at Savor to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We all had salads as appetizers and should have requested the dressing on the side as it was rather overpowering. The fish entree was good. The vegan ratatouille was rather dry and overpowered by the smoky flavor of the zucchini. The desserts were of good quality. The service was decent though we had to frequently request items such as bread and pepper which was not initially offered. We would not rush back.
Great to support the Culinary Institute, but the food is overpriced.
A very enjoyable evening. Service was great and my salmon may be tied for the very best ever. They did not have any Martini and Rossi dry vermouth which was a problem as we use it in our Manhattan cocktails. I will be spreading the word that Savor is THE place to eat when visiting Niagara Falls. I also want to add that the location is a short walk, down a lovely brick road smack across from the entrance to Seneca Niagara Casino.
Prime location, great ambiance, nice hostess and waitress Simone; food, however, needs some work: stuffed pepper dish was amazing: right amount of everything, precisely what you expect from French cusine, salmone on the other hand was quite substandard: starting with fatty farm fish, overpowering taste of barbecue sauce and ovevly salty and to finish with overcooked mundane bed of rice. To add to it there was a wedding party extremely loud next to us that dampened overall impression. Overall nice place to eat in Niagara Falls although need to be selective with your order.
This might well be best restaurant in Niagara Falls. Nice venue, great food; not recklessly expensive
The food is very good and compare to other restaurants in the falls is the best you can find.
What I liked best is the staff: young, professional, always smiling!!!
Only negative note: too much air conditioning, but this is something here is quiete normal!
Really suggested, good Job!!!!
Savor is a culinary institute that has the potential to be outstanding. However the food arrived cold at our table and more than hour late. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. and our main course arrived at 8:40 p.m. The waiter forgot to bring our food and it was cold. The restaurant closes at 9:00 pm We were very disappointed.
We almost missed this amazing experience due to my hubby's uneasiness with the thought of students preparing our meal. I'm so happy that I insisted we go! The restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel (a bonus for us to enjoy their incredible cocktails and sangria!). We had reservations for the last seating, and never felt rushed to complete our meals. We started with the best mussels appetizer we ever tasted, along with an arugula salad balanced with blueberries, mandarin oranges and goat cheese. The shrimp and pesto pizza followed and was outstanding, as well. I couldn't resist dessert and the creme brulee didn't disappoint! All staff was highly professional and very friendly. Loved, loved, loved!!
Wonderful ambiance, the food was excellent and our service was spectacular. Definitely worth a visit while in Niagara Falls
Great prices for a tasty meal in a formal setting where you can dress casually. Nice!
This restaurant is part of a culinary school, and served and tasty meals with plenty of variety to satisfy foodies or kids. Friendly staff, and ambience is very nice, since the tables are not too close together, and we had a nice large table next to the open kitchen prep area. We were able to see the chefs preparing meals for an event later in the day. Very nice contrast from the touristy mediocre food in Niagara Falls visitor areas, and this was walkable, within a few blocks of the Falls.
Nice place to go out for some upscale food for a decent price.
We had a fantastic dinner last night! Our server Jared was outstanding and made some great recommendations!
Really nice selections on the menu! Our meals were delicious! Also, we enjoyed chatting with the waitress, who was from Macedonia.
Showed up in our standard tourist wear and still felt well taken care of. Lauren was a wonderful host and we enjoyed our entire experience, she made sure!
Very good food but a little pricey for a school restaurant
We were happy to discover Savor on a recent visit to Niagara Falls. The US side of the falls are very touristy, and there is a surprisingly large selection of Indian cuisine restaurants (7+) but little in the way of quality american cuisine. The kids enjoyed their food (pasta and high quality pizza from in-restaurant pizza oven) while I had a very good signature cocktail, a quality arugula salad, and a not-so-good daily chef special of Chicken Tostadas. (Too much chicken meat piled on and lacking seasoning.) As the service and ambiance were high quality, I am giving the restaurant a pass on the below average special, and rate the overall dining experience as positive.
