Excellent overall. Meal, ambiance, service and everything else.
Excellent restaurant, great food and remarkable service. A special thank you to Andrew for making our evening a memorable one.
Great food with excellent presentation. Waiter was efficient and knowledgeable. Elevator was confusing, surprised that restaurant was located in a retirement community. The wine list was good with reasonable pricing.
This is our all-time favourite spot. We are never disappointed.
This restaurant came highly recommended. We were told that apart from wonderful food the view of Toronto is amazing. We booked the restaurant section for a special outing to celebrate our anniversary, and noted that on our reservation through OpenTable. Arriving a little early we offered to wait until our reservation time in the bar, but were shown to a table instead. The table was off to the side with no real view (at least one we could both enjoy); very disappointing. The food was great, the service amazing, and the complimentary valet parking appreciated. The only reason for the less than perfect rating is the location of the table. I understand they cannot guarantee a table with a view, but there did not seem to be much effort to attempt to honor our request.
Excellent food quality and decent view in particular if you go there around sunset time. Please get a table close to the window to enjoy the drink with the beautiful sky. I did not drive as I am a tourist. I took subway to Summerhill station and walk there for around 10-15 mins. After meal, the receptionist can reserve taxi for you. Please don’t skip the dessert and the coconut and whites chocolate cake is a must try.
We ordered the Hamachi Tartar which was delicious! However, the main dish - Seafood with Lobster tasted just okay as the lobster tail seemed to be a little bit over-cooked in my opinion. Our server recommended their signature dessert - coconut pie, we tried but we really cannot see anything special about it. We also ordered the chocolate expresso dessert and we all think we should just skip the dessert. Overall, I think the restaurant is over-rated. Their services and ambiance are good but I won’t recommend to come here for special occasion.
It was our wedding anniversary, but my wife had a lot else on her mind. Andrew, our server was exceptional, describing in detail the "specials", which turned out to be as good as advertised. All in all a great experience which helped my wife forget her worries about her son's health for a while.
Continues to be the best restaurant in Toronto. My favourite place for over 20 years. Consistently exquisite, with best staff and service in the city as well.
Great food and service was perfect
My husband and I celebrated our birthdays one day apart recently. We try to do something special and our dining experience at Scaramouche was as spectacular as the view! Actually, it was the best food and service we have ever had in Toronto! I am excited to return soon and to highly recommend Scaramouche to my friends.
Most of the courses were very well done and the cookery on the proteins was spot on! We had a lovely evening.
We celebrated my birthday at Scaramouche recently and found that the old bandit could still charm the taste buds. This mid-town institution has stood the test of time. More time than we had thought. Our personable but unobtrusive waiter told us that they'd been serving carefully prepared food there for 38 years. In the famously ephemeral resto business, this says something itself.
What really did the talking though was the food. Venison perfectly rare with bacon fused to it like it had been part of the animal. Lamb chops pink and tender, set off by eggplant puree and perfectly prepared fresh produce. We enjoyed our entrees and then luxuriated in the view. Everybody knows about the view. Everybody also knows that "it's just Toronto", but as sat
Fantastic service. Our waiter wasn’t passionate about the menu and made our overall experience fantastic. Great food, great ambience. Highly recommended.
We were celebrating our 1st year anniversary and wanted to go somewhere special. This place is the spot for just that. The experience from beginning to end was amazing from friendly staff, delicious foods and beautiful scenery. I would recommend this to anyone look for a romantic place to bring there siginificant other.
This is my third birthday we spent together in GTA .
Food and service are fantastic as always.
Lamb is so tasty, I didn’t disappointed.
This was the first time I found the food less than fabulous. It was very good and the service, very good, as usual. The staff who clear your plates are a little too attentive, if anything, but that's my personal feeling.
Stunning experience, delicious food. Great environment and awesome customer service
Fabulous restaurant for a special occasion. Great view and terrific food. Our server was kind and funny. The halibut was so delicious and coconut cream pie is to die for! I highly recommend this place!
overall a good way to spend a Saturday night ..very well prepared food and good service
Really great place! Its also very reasonably priced. Service is not over done or intrusive its just perfect. Food was also very good, recommend the lamb!
We celebrated my retirement and my daughters birthday. The service was very good. The food was outstanding. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the scenic view of the town.
Would recommend my friends with no hesitation. The deserts were great. The wine our waiter recommended was very nice.
We did had problems with finding parking. Restaurant website did not make any recommendations on where we can find parking.
We had to park 3 blocks away from the restaurant. We were lucky the evening was perfect for walking and we enjoyed the walk.
My second time dining at Scaramouche and I was not disappointed. If anything, their coconut cream pie was better than I remembered!
Our first visit to Scaramouche was all we expected and more. The meal was wonderful! A treat for all the sesnses! Would definitely return on our next trip to Toronto.
Perhaps the best dining experience I’ve ever had. To speak about portions or speed of service is to miss the point of this restaurant. The service is so seamless that you might miss them at your table. The food is beyond even trying to describe in a review like this. Hands down worth every dollar.
Always my favorite restaurant
We had a wonderful 85th birthday celebration there last night. The food and service were impeccable, as always, but the piece de resistance was a huge slice of their famous coconut cream pie with a candle and “Happy 85th Birthday” inscribed on the plate in chocolate!
A wonderful restaurant with excellent service. We expected the food to be amazing and it was. You should make it a point to visit when you are in Toronto.
We were on a short trip in Toronto and decided to try out this restaurant. I have to say we had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and service was just great!!! Highly recommend!
My experience was really good from the beginning to the end.
If you are looking for special time it is a really good option.
Food was great. Service was wonderful. The setting is romantic!
Tremendous service, exqusite food and ambience to match!
Absolutely loves our evening and Alex went out of her way with service!
Food is perfect but the service is so-so. The waitress is no smile and we don’t feel get a good service.
Fantastic Service, really enjoyed the food and our view and setting was excellent
Great food and great service, I loved my foie gras and venison and my girlfriend who is vegetarian found several dishes to choose from that she would enjoy. Our waiter was excellent very lively, attentive and funny. We had a great view of the toronto skyline from our table. And at the end of the meal when we had issues with my debit cards chip our waiter was very patient as we looked for a solution and he was very understanding of our predicament. We loved our experience at Scaramouche and would definitely recommend it.
The main drawback in the restaurant was the air conditioning. It was freezing with direct cold air in the whole window seat section.
Once you get over arriving at the entry of a condo complex venue, you descend into a plush restaurant with grey velvet banquettes and a gorgeous view of Toronto from a hilltop. We were the first arrivals for the dinner seating and were offered several tables without a view bcz the rest were “spoken for”. After they relented and gave our party of four a table with a partial view, we enjoyed a superb meal. From the watermelon feta amuse bouche, to the excellent oysters from Ireland, to our main courses of halibut, lamb, St. Canut pork, and Georgian Bay whitefish. Oh, and all our unique cocktails were divine. The desserts knocked it out of the park; we had the Valrohna cherry chocolate mouse cake and coconut creme pie. Can’t wait to go back!
The food is very good and the service was wonderful. Unfortunately, the restaurant needs a facelift. The decor and feel is very dated. My guess is that the ownership has not touched the decor in 20 years. Other than that the food was great. And we were impressed with our server, Michael. Also I had on a blazer and tie; however, there were guests there with shorts and flip flops. The Coconut Cream Pie is spectacular. The ownership had better focus on how much competition there is in Toronto. The concierge at the Ritz Carlton Hotel told us that the restaurant was dated and she suggested a different restaurant.
Surprising. Not the ambience you would expect from the 'basement of a condo building'. But quietly and classically chic once you enter. Would not be the cup of tea for millennials. Excellent service. Could have a more imaginative or creative menu. Valet parking is in a residential space visitor parking so be prepared to add the valet tip to your bill.
