SCARLET - Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon
Dress Up or Dress Down. Steak or a burger. Glass of wine or a beer.
Whichever you choose, we're committed to delivering the highest level of food and drink quality in a fun, upbeat environment.
Ideally located in the beautiful downtown Saskatoon, SCARLET is the latest extension in the Carver's family of brands, following in the footsteps of the very successful Carver's Steakhouse and 6Twelve Lounge Concepts.
Good food, good service, appetizers were very expensive for what you got, everything else was reasonably priced for a higher end restaurant.
Our previous experience at Carver's was excellent. However, this time it was matched only by a restaurant in a working-class area of London forty-five years ago, where I was treated to the very worst in British Food. Our reservation was for Carver's. When we arrived we were told that, no, we were to be in Scarlet's but the Carver's menu was to be the same. Scarlet's had music so loud that it would be impossible to have a dinning conversation so finally we were told that we could get the same menu served in the cafe. So, rather than spoil our New Year's eve dinner completely, we agreed. I don't know who cooked our meals, but it certainly was not up to what we expected considering our previous experiences. I felt so sorry for our waitress. We had to keep assuring her that we knew that she was not responsible for what she had to serve us.
As for the meals themselves...Salt...salt....salt. Does the chef have a part time job de-icing streets? Who dumps salt on escargots and salmon? Please take away his shovel! The chicken livers came swamped in a thick dark brown sauce that made them taste like drowned beef. The goat's cheese appetizer was not exciting but acceptable. My surf and turf dish arrived with cold seafood and a 'rare' steak suitable for repairing shoes. My salad dish never did arrive and my side dish finally arrived in time for dessert. The management offered to give us free desserts but by that time we had had enough and just left. We only stayed in the first place because of the difficulty in finding an alternative on New Year's eve. In after thought, perhaps we should have gone to a fast food place ... at least we would have gotten what we expected to get.
Great service and very solid food. Nice to watch the world pass us by during the meal.
All was good except when I arrived they put me at a table and I was waiting for half an hour for everyone else to arrive. Then I got a text from my grand kids to say they had been there for about 20 mins and they were waiting for me. They got put at a different reserved table. So certainly confusion at the front desk.
We had the lemon turkey burger. It was very good- was very flavourful and had exceptional taste. You have a great view of the outdoor skating rink across the street. Best seats are by the windows. It can be a little noisy as there are a number of families that dine there since it is part of the hotel. Overall- a good dining experience though.
The host was very accommodating of our late showing and an extra member in our party.
The burger buns look outstanding.
The food for all of our party arrive at the same time :-)
The food was well presented.
The shades should have been lowered to reduce the glare from the snow on the streets
The waitresses did not use the proper serving technique, but did apologize for overreaching.
Great place to eat. Fabulous burgers. Very fresh
We went for a Thanksgiving dinner and were very pleased. All of us had the turkey plated dinner. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. Awesome decor as well. The only thing that was not perfect was that the food was warm and not nearly heated enough. It was so tasty though that we did not say anything.
I went for breakfast and I thought the value was great for the quality of the meal I received.
Excellent food with great service. Will come back next time i’m In saskatoon
It was my first time at Scarlet and I would definitely go back. The staff was awesome as was the food. Loved the Beet and Peach Salad and the Parmesan Fries.
We had a wonderful experience! We were there for brunch and The food was outstanding, delicious and large portions. Our server was wonderful and very attentive! Will definitely be back!
Second time I’ve ate at Scarlett in a week. Service is excellent. Great experience for our family.
The location was perfect, and the patio was a great setting for our summer dinner. However, the service was poor and slow. This didn't seem to be a consistent problem across the restaurant, only with our server. Food was tasty, but didn't blow us away. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Scarlet again, but wouldn't be opposed to eating there.
Exceptional Blue Burger, seemed like a real beef patty, perfectly cooked and presented, good fries, wish there was a half fries half onion rings option. Good service and great value due to the brunch beverage specials. thank you
Good quality food, thanks. Also, superb service and interior.
We were seated outside with a drink, which was great! But after an hour waiting to order food, we left hungry!
Definitely coming back here. Its our first time and we were amaze how the quality of food you serve. Ambience, service, and over all was awesome! Thanks for the wonderful experience.
The reason for our luncheon was business and we definitely will be back. Food was amazing!
Service was very slow and the restaurant wasnt very busy except for the patio.
Our waitress mixed up our drink order and kept forgetting to bring a side of dip after asked twice. Still never did get it.
The waitresses were dressed poorly for a fancy hotel restaurant.
We waited too long to be seated despite this reservation. We waited too long to be served our drinks, and too long to receive another while we waited for our food. When it came, there was only one meal! The server seemed disinterested in looking into the matter and stopped at several tables on her way - we presumed - to the kitchen. When she came back out she went to serve other tables. More than five minutes passed, the one meal we had been served was now cold, and still no second meal or explanation from the server. This was a special occasion and they dropped the ball in every important way. We simply got up and left, and they did not even notice that! Absolutely unprofessional treatment., We will not be back, as this is the second time in a row that the service has been awful and the wait times excessive.
Food and service was very good. A little to expensive for the wine which was $19.00 for 1 glass. The Bellini's were amazing expected them to be small since they are in a martini glass but was very surprised at the size,
I had the Atlantic salmon with asparagus. Sometimes roasted asparagus is charred but this was perfect, as were the potatoes. It was all soaked in butter, so of course delicious. The evening menu was limited but good.
It’s always good food. Had the pizza and it was nice. Thin and crispy is hard to beat
Simply Fabulous! Great new menu, outstanding service and lovely ambiance. Best breakie spot in Saskatoon.
A cozy place in winter. Loved the atlantic salmon. Good service.
Nice ambience, excellent food and service, and very affordable.
Nice ambiance and tasty food. Our server was friendly and timely with checking up on how we were doing.
Normally this is a very good place to eat and the food has always been very good as well. The meal was very poor. I had the beed dip. The bun was VERY stale, the beef was cold as well as the fires. I should have sent it back.
I made a reservation for 6 people on New Year’s Day for noon. My friends arrived just before I did and were told that there was no reservation. When I arrived I went to the hostess and asked her about this and showed her the email I received confirming my reservation. She kept saying there was nothing she could do. As someone who has served, hosted and managed in restaurants I suggested that we get put to the top of the wait list since we had a reservation that I had proof of. She then said there are groups ahead of you on the list and I responded by saying that the reservation puts me ahead of the people on the list. We got a table about 20 minutes after our reservation. We never really got an apology or anything for the missed reservation (which I made almost a week prior) and our server couldn’t even tell us what was on tap or what the soup was. I understand New Years is a busy day and that mistakes happen but having them brushed aside is not acceptable.
We were seated in the 'family' end, and there were large groups of people and lots of children running around and yelling. Not really the ambience that four people are looking for when they get together occasionally. The food service was very slow, and we watched as even these large tables were served first. When we complained they did comp. a round of drinks, which was the right thing to do. We have had better experiences here, but will not rush back.
The turkey was very good, the prime rib not so much. Would not go back for a Christmas meal. Our server was very friendly and professional.
The only thing that would have made the dining experience more enjoyable at THIS time of year would be Christmas music.
I recently had lunch here with a couple of older ladies (like me). Everything about it was satisfactory but the noise level. The noise level from the tables around us made our lunch less pleasant than it otherwise might have been. I could understand that the wait staff couldn't "turn down the volume" of the other lunch guests but it was hard for me to believe they couldn't turn down the volume of the music playing on the restaurant's sound system. So, even after many of the other lunch guests had left, we were subjected to the "background' music that simply was not pleasant. I will avoid going to Scarlet in future because of the noise level.
Music was too loud. I should of asked for it to be turned down. I reserved online saying it was a birthday lunch would of been nice if this was mentioned by the staff. Kind of a let down .
The brunch is pretty good, nice place with river park view!
This was the second time I ate at Scarlet. Both times were friendly and delicious. Comfort food at comfortable prices!
I liked the old menu better. The new one is too casual.
The service was poor. Had a reservation but table was not ready and they were not busy.
Then sat for 20 minutes and had no service at the table at all. No water, coffee nothing.
Table was not properly set for the number of guests.
Food was good service was not.
We ordered a breakfast pull apart bun to start, my husband cut it open and there was a long black hair in it. Instead of giving us the option to just cancel the order they brought our another one...no black hair but no discussion about how that would have happened. The service was horrible slow...even a basic cup of coffee had us waiting over ten minutes. The restaurant wasn't even full but everything we got was slow and brought out haphazard with no one asking how things were. They kept saying I'm sorry were slow but it didn't make a difference they didn't get any faster.
