Celebrating two of my friends birthdays. We had a really nice time! One of the very few places where you can have a conversation without shouting. Service was great & food was delicious! Highly recommend!

This is a quote and cozy spot. We definitely didn’t need a reservation and we’re welcomed warmly when we came in. The food was pretty good though the calamari appetizer was definitely lackluster. The service was very pleasant but a bit slow. My guess is room service was slammed. Overall not a bad place just stay away from calamari.

Free valet parking; had Christmas Day dinner, so only one server was working that day; despite this, the service was attentive and efficient; each of our meals were very tasty and filling. Even though the dining area was full, the noise level was pleasantly low to allow for intimate conversation.

Our reservation was for 12:15pm, party of 5 and a highchair on Xmas day. They were not very busy so the staff was all of 3 people. We ordered some food for the toddler (chicken strips with fries) and the cinnamon rolls for starters. It didn't come until 1:00pm! Suffice it to say it was rough since its hard to keep a hungry toddler busy for all that time! There is no reason for the food to take so long! When our sandwiches finally showed up we were starving! I have to say the food was good or I would have given them only 1 star. Although...they use the same overcooked chicken strips for the child's dish as well as the chicken and waffles. Why over cook/deep fry that chicken??? Note to management: When guests come in with a small child please give them special attention!!! No child should have to wait so long to eat!

This has become our go to place for a great breakfast. I get the special breakfast with crispy bacon and my wife gets the huevos rancheros totally amazing how quiet the restaurant is which is great for us.

Food was fine. My colleague ordered a burger and they brought him a salad. Halfheartedly offered to bring him the right thing, but didn’t comp his meal or even part of it even though he ate the salad. Thought that was weird.

I’d definitely call this place a bar more so than a restaurant. Service was fantastic. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. The menu is pretty limited, but it’s not a deal breaker. The food could use more flavor. Overall, I’d come here for a drink with a group of friends. I personally want more WOW when I take my wife out.

We couldn’t have asked for a more conducive setting for a business lunch. Although the virtually deserted dining room can’t mean good things for the Hotel Belamar, it worked for us. Service was super attentive, our Salmon Chef salads were fresh and delicious, and a glass was never empty.

Fairly limited menu but everything was delicious. Calamari was light and perfectly cooked. The homemade chicken noodle soup was wonderful. My wife enjoyed crusted sea bass and I had scratch made pasta with homemade meatballs. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and let us enjoy a leisurely meal without pushing us along as some places tend to do. We’ll definitely be back

I happened to be staying at the hotel this restaurant is located in, but this is not your average hotel restaurant. This is some of the best food that I have had in LA. The smoked salmon dish for brunch is superb! The Mexican chocolate ganache for happy hour is a must. And everyone in my group of six love their food. I highly recommend this restaurant regardless of whether you are staying in this hotel or not!

This is a great little local spot that is quiet and not well known. It's nice inside and the happy hour is a great deal at a great time. I'd go back again. There was lot's of space for a larger group and cozy for a couple. I'd give it even higher marks but I like to (rarely) reserve those for places that are over the top impressive. One of the drawbacks is the silly street signs that say you can't park on the street - not sure if those are legit and enforceable - I broke the rules (and instead of using the valet) I parked on the street anyway with (maybe lucky?) no consequences. I'd recommend this local spot.

It's a typical hotel restaurant in appearance, but the surprise was in the quality of the food. A terrific filet mignon for a third of the price compared to Flemmings or other high priced streak restuarant. Bread pudding desert was also terrific. A nice quiet environment for us to have a quality family conversation.

We had visited the Second Story Restaurant last year for Mother's Day and we had a great time, this year the selections that they presented for the Brunch, left a lot to be desired for the amount that they charged, it wasn't worth it at all. We won't be going back again.

Waitress are great. Food is delicious.. New bartender needs to learn his customer service skills. Very quick and makes no eye contact when ordering a $6.57 hot water and tea bag. Why? Just a little pricey for a hot tea. Also the first price he quoted quickly was said “ six dollars and change”. Miya was amazing help. She is great at her job all around. She should be manger of bar and front desk. Her service skills for all departments were impeccable. Very welcoming.

Unfortunately the hotel and restaurant did not live up to the photos on the website at all. Pretty disappointing since we chose it for a birthday dinner. Most obvious issue were the huge stains on the carpet leading into the restaurant. The hotel should take care of this immediately. The food was ok but not up to standard for the prices. Thankfully the server was great

Food was very good....sever was very good....seemed to really enjoy working at the hotel... However, the restaurant is in DIRE need of an update or at least a thorough cleaning. The chairs were stained and the wooden table we ate at had some wood peeling off the veneer. Won't go back until they refurbish the restaurant.

My husband and I had our Valentine's Day dinner here. It was our first time at the Second Story and most likely won't be our last. We started with the fried calamari, and for our mains, I had the NY steak and my husband had the pork tenderloin. We had the Brussels sprouts as an extra side and the Mexican chocolate tart for dessert. Everything was prepared perfectly, the meats cooked exactly to our specifications and both were tender and delicious. The dessert was heavenly!! Our server was friendly and attentive. My only criticism is that it took too long for us to get our sprouts. Not sure why. We were nearly done with our dinner by the time they arrived at our table. Our server was quite apologetic about the delay. We ended up having most of them packed to go. The free valet parking was a welcome bonus. This is definitely a spot worth checking out next time you are in the Manhattan Beach/LAX area.
