For my wife’s birthday we decided to celebrate it with our kids at Selkirk Grille. We’ve had meals there in the past and the food has always been excellent. The food this time was also excellent. We chose the prime rib special for ourselves (we looked at the online menu before arriving) and the kids ordered off the kids menu. We enjoyed the food but were disappointed with the server. Perhaps he was having a difficult day, but he wasn’t very friendly, barely spoke to us & did not mention the daily specials or recommendations. He refilled our waters and checked on us once, but never asked us about our evening our how we were were doing. Also, when I reserved our table online there is an option to select the reason for dining and I selected “birthday.” Obviously nobody reads that section and nobody asked about my wife’s birthday. We’ll still be back, but hope our next server is friendly and outgoing.
Exceptional experience, fantastic food, and our server Rachel was an absolute pleasure! Can hardly wait to come back to Selkirk Grille!
Excellent food and service. Nice location and lots of parking.
Our food was awful, had the Turkey special, the bun was so hard and the turkey was extremely dry. All six of our meals were very disappointing. Won’t go back or recommend.
We love the Selkirk Grille. It is our go-to restaurant. The food is FANTASTIC and good value. Although business casual is the typical dress code, we did find some customers very inappropriately dressed for the atmosphere the Selkirk Grille typically invites. Our usual table was not available, so we were seated on the other end of the restaurant, and unfortunately, were seated next to some very rude customers. This put a bit of a damper on the end of what should have been a perfect evening. Even so, we will definitely return time and time again.
Went here on a double date with my brother and our girlfriends. It was slow, 2 - 3 other tables at the time. Service was very slow, we had to repeatedly wave down our server to order a drink or ask for a refill.
Empty dishes on our table were not cleared off the table until we asked after 20 minutes + if they could clean it up. When we made an order with the server he was very impolite. He said next to nothing to us the entire time and didn't have a smile.
We ordered 2 of the 44 oz Tomahawk steak for 2 dinners. We waited well over 2 hours for our food to come out. (4:30-6:43). Both of our steaks came out overcooked, but we decided not to complain because it had already taken so long.
After the meal, our waitress came out with the bills incorrectly. We had noticed late so we pointed it out and asked to get a refund for the incorrect items on our bill.
Our server went to get a manager.
Once the manager came over I decided to say something. I said, "excuse me. I just wanted to let you know that we haven't been satisfied with the service tonight."
I waited for a reply and he looked at me and ignored me.
I said again "excuse me. I just wanted to inform you of a couple concerns we had regarding our supper tonight."
He once again ignored me.
The third time I said "excuse me. Are you just going to ignore me when I'm right in front of you trying to voice a concern?"
The manager then proceeded to tell us how tomahawk steaks take 40 minutes to cook (nowhere near 2 hours and 15 minutes) and that we need to be patient with the server.
My girlfriend then said "you can't at the least offer us an apology to make this right?"
He said "yeah were sorry" and then looked away.
We left this restaurant upset and feeling ripped off
Lovely ambiance inside or out and the patio is fantastic in a nice day. My friend had the Atlantic lobster wrap. It was huge and delicious! I had the daily special and the butternut squash soup. Very tasty!
Good deal for food and good food. Super fast service but maybe a bit too fast that you don’t get to enjoy the atmosphere and natural progression of a dinner date
The $8 parking fee shocked us! They should let you pay for two hours, if you are not going into the park. We won’t be going back for lunch ever again, but might consider going for dinner, if the parking is cheaper. Good food and great service.
Saturday is prime rib night, yet we had a 6:00 reservation for five and the prime rib was sold out. You know how many people have reservations and that probably most would want the prime rib special, so why not prepare enough? One order was not taken correctly, so orders were delivered as two, then a wait, then two more, a wait, then last one. So really, only one person had a hot meal. When we booked we indicated it was a birthday meal (significant birthday), yet there was no mention of it, and nothing special for the birthday person, despite the poor service. The food is good, but the service is not. Other restaurants have both good food and good service, so no inclination to return to the Selkirk Grille.
Great place for a nice dinner. High quality food and presentation without being pretentious. The atmosphere was friendly, comfortable and casual, even with the COVID precautions. A great deal for the prime rib on Saturdays or Date Night on Thursdays. Go!! You won't regret it.
Great view from the patio; Date Night Special was delish and our waiter was top notch.
We had a very enjoyable meal and we were able to really visit without a lot of noise interference. There was a wedding taking place which meant our food took a little longer, but we were in no hurry. We definitely recommend this.
Great meal awesome spot great service great value
We dine here frequently and as always were not disappointed. The food is amazing and the staff really make you feel appreciated.
We were disappointed in the main course. Did not see the value in a pasta dish of average quality for $60.00.
The food has always been excellent. We enjoy the quiet atmosphere.
Wonderful atmosphere and fortunate with good weather to sit in the sun on the patio. Excellent service and food - thank you!!
Great spot after a visit to the Park. We had the roast beef special at $30.00, excellent roast beef, excellent mashed potatoes, vegetables cooked just right!
Lovely restaurant that is close by my home. It is a really nice to have a cozy and classy restaurant that has really yummy food so near by!
The food is very good, ambience is too bright. Our service was probably the poorest we 4 have ever had, although waitress was friendly, she was clueless. A tutorial on how to serve people would be helpful.
Great food with good portion size, complimentary bread basket, and good wine selection. Servers were attentive, and good atmosphere that allowed conversations to be had easily. Would make a good date night outing or dinner with the in-laws.
The food was amazing and so was the service. It was our first time here and will be back!
Lovely spot on the patio on a sunny day. Food is always good and service very friendly.
I had the salmon with the vegetables and quinoa pilaf it was all very tasty. My husband had the prime rib dinner which was very tasty also but the server did not bring him the Yorkshire pudding which was part of the dinner. We had the strudel for dessert it was tasty but was not flaky like a freshly baked strudel should be.
The restaurant itself was nice and not overly loud. Food and drinks were ok but not worth the price.
seating staff were great, food was good but service was slow. not sure if there wasnt enough waiters for the amount of tables there ?
Our server (who had just started working at Selkirk Grille the day we were there) was outstanding and a delightful young man. However the hostesses were less than welcoming and made me feel that I was bothering them despite the fact that the restaurant was almost empty. This is a consistent problem at this restaurant, although I believe these were new hostesses.
The food is not good value for money in my opinion except for the charcuterie board which was excellent and far more appetizing than the fish or pork tenderloin that my companions ordered.
I would go to this restaurant again (despite the inhospitable welcome and lack of comfortable ambiance) only because of the Charcuterie board and the wait staff. Also, it is at Heritage Park which I value as a Calgarian and have always supported.
Made a patio res. Told lt was full . Had to sit inside. Not Good
A good working lunch on the patio. The service from Shelly was good, prompt and professional.
Waiter was very attentive and accommodating, excellent service. We had the beef burger and the beef was very tasteful and done to perfection.
Service and food were excellent. Server was pleasant and friendly. She ensured we had what we needed (e.g. drinks topped up) and food was acceptable.
We enjoyed the your Restaurant very much especially the great retro Atmosphere.
And thank you for the good Food and Service.
low key anniversary lunch was very enjoyable.
Will do again if we are able.
Thanks to staff !!
A friend and I had a quiet lunch here on a Sunday. I enjoyed my coffee, chicken burger and fries, but my friend's gnocchi left a bit to be desired, flavor-wise. Service was prompt and we could have been in and out in an hour.
The food was great but the service needs a bit of work. They couldn't find our reservation which I think is the point of Open Table??
We go here every year for our anniversary. Love the food and the atmosphere. Food selection is always wonderful.
Beautiful setting and delicious fresh food. Unfortunately, they were extremely short staffed. The poor servers were run off their feet. A common theme in this covid world.
Staff worked very hard but it was too much to expect of them. The food was lovely as usual.
My wife and I had an enjoyable evening out. Food was excellent and we would certainly do it again. Nice bright open restaurant in a good location.
