The food was not as good as it used to be. Paella was bland, croquetta was gummy, margarita was okay but not that great. Service was good.

Nice place to go. Would go again with a larger group of people for shared plates. Overall felt the value wasn’t there. $38 vegan paella felt like a $16 dish as far as ingredients, complexity, and size.

This was a birthday celebration so we made an early reservation. Our server was super attentive and friendly, the drinks were wonderful. My husband ordered the pork shoulder with pomegranate and it was delicious! I ordered the Ling cod with greens which was good but a little fishy. My husband ordered the chocolate cake which was fabulous and when the manager found it it was his birthday, Shakewell absorbed the cost. Great music played in the background and the restaurant smelled wonderfully of the dishes being prepared and cooked. Shakewell also has a covered outdoor deck with tables in the front so that you can bring the dogs 👍👍

We were kindly moved inside even after originally booking an outdoor table when one of our party did not show (the person who needed an outdoor setting). Drinks and food were all flavorful. The service was attentive and friendly. The highlight was the fluffy as clouds churros. It’s easily an improvement in the usual tight textured, oily ones that are considered “original”. And the portions were all generous! That was great for our party of 4, sharing plates all the way through. We all got full.

We had never been there before, and we were very happy with the food. We ate outside, and they’re covered. Patio area was nice. The server, and all of the staff, was very friendly. We had a great time. The inside of the restaurant was also awesome! The only thing we would like is for them to carry some Pinot Noir as we are Pinot Noir drinkers!

Their off menu item, chicken and churros is still a winner. The cocktails are good but overpriced. They are trying new menu items and they were fine, maybe a little heavy handed on the salt. But the Broccoli and cremini mushrooms were extremely disappointing. It was like a bad home stir-fry. Overall though, I would still give it another chance - just wasn't that impressed with the meal for the prices. The service was good and the ambiance matched the menu pricing. The food quality did not match the pricing.

Nice innovative menu. We sat outside in a covered enclosure and it was very noisy, hard to understand. Winee price for the vinho verde, 5 times retail. The other wines were realistically priced. Excellent service, other than they mistakenly served the starter and main at the same time.

We enjoyed our meal in the patio.Service was excellent from the moment we were greeted until we left. The Jamón Croquettas were the perfect beginning with a glass of Cinsault blend wine. The whole Branzino(not always available) was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We ended the evening with a decadent Peach Puff Panna Cotta!

Shakewell is a neighborhood gem! Each time we visit, the cuisine is fresh, delicious and memorable. Last eve's watermelon and feta cheese salad was a summer delight, and the paella, stunning. The cocktails are also innovative and make the evening brighter. Well done!!

The ambiance itself was good. The cocktails were spot on but the paella was slightly burnt, very greasy, and more meat than seafood. The Spicy pork shoulder had good flavor but was super salty so we could not finish neither of our meals.

We the paella and the romaine salad and both were delicious, quite exceptional. And I had a glass of Corsican wine just to say I'd tried one. It was satisfactory. Our only complaint about Shakewell - and we've noted this before - is that it is quite noisy, and last night was too cool to sit outside. The staff was nice about turning the music down, but my wife (the architect) says more could be done to install sound dampening materials. Also, we asked to be reseated at one of the stool tables next to an open window. That helped. Lovely meal, though, and staff were all solicitous and charming.

A cozy restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating that has lots of regulars and a warm owner who checks on diners regularly. However my fish was overcooked and the watermelon salad came with extra hot cayenne that had to be sent back. A little more discipline in the kitchen would raise the overall quality.

The Cornbread Stack at brunch is FANTASTIC! Four of us each ordered different brunch items, and while everyone was content with their choices, mine was hands down the best —- over the top delicious! I was concerned it would be too heavy, but the pulled pork was more of an enhancement, not the primary ingredient, and the fresh greens, tomatoes, grated cheese were delicious topped with the crispy, sweet jalapeño cornbread - yum! I paired it with one of their great cocktails with lime, tequila and coconut crème. It was a nice pairing, though too sweet for me to choose in the future.

It is difficult to get seated, even when you have reservations. Lakeshore Ave. is such a busy place, tons of people on the sidewalk, hard to find the person to seat you - waiters cannot do it

Our first time at Shakewell and we really enjoyed it, beginning with a delicious falafel appetizer and cocktails at the bar before moving to a table for dinner. The three course dinner deal is definitely worth getting. The ribeye steak was delicious as was the very geneous vegetarian dish.
