The server wasn't polite at all .
I was in Chicago as a visitor for just two days, and very luckily I had a chance to visit the Shaw's Crab House on a Saturday morning for brunch. The food, especially the seafood, is of top quality. The environment is great for a weekend brunch as well as fine dining in the evening. I shall recommend to any friend who will be visiting Chicago to visit the restaurant for great seafood.
Great place to bring out-of-towners. I would prefer lunch or early dinner at this location as it gets too dark in evening to get to this location. Appetizers are wonderful. The booths are nice and private. All had a great time.
Food and Service were very good, but we were seated in the back-room which felt like a lower tier annex to the main restaurant. Even the bar and Oyster Bar have a better vibe. The king crab was perfectly cooked. The swordfish was tasty too but the portion was a little smaller than expected. Sides were delicious as was the Key lime pie. I would go back to Shaw’s but definitely not to the back room.
Shaw’s seafood never disappoints. Great food, service and atmosphere. The menu is huge with great entree choices. We had dinner there Friday and Sunday night.
Excellent service from Melissa and the entrees were tasty, as always, including great soups. Date and I are both locals and visit often.
Oysters were major disappointment, this time. Crowes Pasture were only notable exception. Date and I are oyster lovers and Shaw’s rarely disappoints but did, this time. Dulled the rest of the meal. Sorry.
Wait staff made you feel like you’ve been going there for the last 10 years!
Wonderful! All of it just wonderful - halibut was so delicious
Always our Chicago go to favorite. Never a disappointment. Look forward to every trip to Chicago because of Shaw’s. Starts with a martini.
I had a great meal with my sister to celebrate her birthday. The service and food were excellent and it was a special night
My wife and I had dinner at Shaw's. We ordered a pinot noir wine and it was served quite cold and sent it back for a room temperature glass of wine, for which the server was accommodating. Being a seafood place, they had a wide selection to choose from. First we split a salad which was fresh and tasty. My wife had yellowfin tuna and I had swordfish. Both of the entrees were delicious. We would return for another meal without hesitation.
I moved away from Chicago many years ago and have just moved back. Shaw’s is everything I remember and more. Absolutely delightful.
We returned for a business lunch on a quiet day, were seated at a table in the main bar area, and enjoyed oysters, haddock, fish and chips, and key lime pie with a candle to celebrate a birthday. Service was attentive and efficient. The quality of the seafood is excellent. The decor makes the meal a trip to a seaside resort on the east coast. Good seafood is not cheap, but Shaw's seems reasonably priced and a good value for the overall experience.
I didn't choose the restaurant- a friend was visiting for just one day and said he was told if you eat in one restaurant in Chicago it HAS to be Shaw's. As much as I love the Lettuce family of restaurants in general, Shaw's is just not my favorite (although I love the Thomas Melvin murals) and there are SO many more interesting restaurants- but I humored my friend and we went. I had the lobster tacos , which were quite good but really not enough food for an actual meal. My friend had the lobster roll, which he liked but was disappointed that it was served with a side as mundane as French fries and was frankly appalled at the price - $34. That said, our waiter - Pat - was great.
Great properly cooked food, not over seasoned or overcooked (tough request for some restaurants in the area) good selection and great tasting
Shaw’s has been a staple of my husband’s and mine ever since we first started visiting Chicago on a regular basis! It never disappoints! We had the Caesar salad & Parmesan encrusted whitefish plus oysters on the half shell (sampler platter). Everything was absolutely perfect! Our waiter was attentive & amazing too.
Good only good place good food, expensive... for crabs a must go place
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner and the waiter was outstanding. Good food (the Alaskan King Crab was great), and the atmosphere was great as well.
Excellent food, great atmosphere in the main dining room. The bar is too lively for our taste.
This classic seafood restaurant never disappoints. The quality of the food, as well as the quality of the service is top notch
Great good along with excellent service makes for a great dining experience. We were so happy we chose Shaw's!
Food and service were amazing as usual. I've bee n going for years and have never been disappointed.
A wonderful experience as always.
My husband and I went for the Sunday Brunch. It was a spectacular buffet with 5 different food stations including steamed crab legs, prime rib, sushi, oysters, crab cakes and a massive selection of delicious desserts. They also had traditional breakfast foods like made to order omelets, waffles, bacon, sausage, hash browns, etc. However, I filled up on seafood and treats, which were all amazing! The server was also fantastic. She was attentive and helpful and even brought us some chocolate cake and chocolate covered strawberries to go because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I definitely plan to go back the next time I’m in town. So delicious!
Excellent food, went for ousters and surf and surf
Great seafood! Great service! Highly recommend!!
Had Dick as our waiter - fantastic! Everyone who looked after us was awesome. The wine by the glass was excellent and a nice sized glass. The food really surprised us in its quality and taste. We didn’t expect it to be as amazing as it was. The dessert, key lime pie was special. The ambience in the main dining room was quite cool.
Food was excellent. Service was great. Only complaint is the eye roll from the hostess, because when she was ready to seat us 2 people were in the restroom. We didn't eye roll or complain about being seated 15 min. Later than our reservation.
Have been a couple of times the food is always great the atmosphere is nice it's always clean and the staff is very attentive I tell everyone the should go at least once don't need a reason just go
We LOVE this place... especially the Oyster Bar. Delicious every time. This is a must do every time you are downtown Chicago.
Great service and awesome seafood. We brought my dad here when he came to visit and he loved it.
Amazing weekend brunch! Pace yourself and try everything!
We love Shaws! Come nearly every time we are in the Chicago area and we drive up on occasion just for the weekend brunch.
While we love the Shaw’s Sunday Brunch, we experienced it on a Saturday for the first time. The buffet layout is less spread out and that was nice. The food was amazing as usual and the Shaw’s Brunch remains a favorite whenever in the Chicago Loop.
Excellent quality food with friendly efficient service. Rather busy at 9pm Friday but the noise level reduced to a pleasant hum later.
Such great service and appreciate the attention to all details!
Timing of service Washington perfect! Felt like home but with a pro envorinment.
Food was good, very tasty. BUT and that is a BIG but, the "JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKE (6oz)" was more like a JUMBO LUMP MINI CRAB CAKE (x?oz). Since I also had the MARYLAND STYLE CRAB CAKE as an appetizer (for half of the price) and about the same size, I could not feel very happy about it.
great seafood, service and ambiance
it was oyster fest and a a company was there from the east coast and we ev n had a few free ones, awesome!
