We had our wedding reception upstairs in the "terrace" as it was then and decided to revisit for our 23 Rd wedding anniversary . The summer menu of 2 corpses and a bottle of wine was amazing value and we could not fault the service or food will definitely go again

Having eaten many times previously at Shu it was unfortunately a real disappointment on this occasion ... The standard of the steak I ordered was very poor and had to be sent back .... The replacement was only slightly better ! Assume it was a "one of" as all previous visits the food was excellent !

The restaurant we near our guest house so an easy walk. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. The wait staff (and I think it was the chef who visited us) made excellent meal recommendations. I had a lovey tuna steak with fresh vegetables and lime seasoning and my partner had salmon with a wonderful nicoise salad, curried cauliflower and cilantro.

Good food and good service. The appetizers and pickled vegetables were a nice way to start. The foie gras was amazing and would recommend to anyone. The balance was good and the service was good but shy of amazing. Lovely dinner but the service was a bit scattered for this level of restaurant.

It was my birthday and so the complimentary prosecco was a nice touch. Staff were more than helpful, the wine list was very good. Cant wait until we return.

As first time visitors to Belfast we booked this restaurant well in advance, given its reputation and it being a Saturday night. Service was very efficient and friendly from the start and the menu and food is very good, as is the choice of wines. The place was busy and the atmosphere had a real buzz about it. One of the fish dishes had been changed and we were informed that the Brill had looked better that morning. I therefore had one of the nicest pieces of Brill that I have had anywhere, ever! Starters were good and my partner also loved his main. A minor niggle is that the cheeses on the cheeseboard were not explained to us. What could have been another niggle is that the tables were a little close together but it allowed us to exchange banter with 'our neighbours'. Honestly, the natives of Belfast must be amongst the friendliest people you could meet. All in all an excellent evening.

Ordered a glass of Reisling whilst browsing the menu but it was t for me and straight away they offered me another glass of my choice at no charge. Starters were great a beautiful risotto and my husband had a light mozerella salad that worked perfectly with HIS Reisling! I had lamb it was good but not as good as my husbands pigeon I need to return for that! Great meal great service will be back soon!

First time we have been to Shu Restaurant but it will definitely not be the last- staff excellent and attentive nothing was too much trouble, courteous and with a great sense honour - service first class! Having visited Shu a few times with work colleagues I decided to surprise my wife for her birthday and book dinner in Shu. It was a great decision. On a Tuesday night in February there were 40+ in the restaurant which contributed to a good atmosphere. The welcome was warm and accommodating and throughout the meal the service was attentive but not overbearing. And the food was to die for! An excellent menu of fresh, cooked to order meals with an emphasis on local produce, and the stars of the show were the chicken liver parfait and the Peter Hannon aged sirloin steak, as well as the special lamb three ways. Highly recommended!

Just called in for the Business Lunch. I had the gravadlax followed by chicken and my colleague had leek risotto followed by the blade of beef. Two courses of superb quality and great value for money. Unlike many other Lunch Deals this was not made down to a low price but was of an excellent standard both in terms of taste and presentation.

We booked the 7-9 sitting on a Saturday night. Restaurant had a good busy atmosphere. Service was very friendly. Starter arrived, perhaps, a little too quickly as we had ordered some olives with our aperitif. However starters were good and novel, particularly beetroot (3 ways) and goats cheese (2 ways). Mains were good although my steak was not rare as ordered. I expected Shu to cook it as ordered. However, aged steak was of very good quality. Politely mentioned this to waiter but he made no comment. Desserts were traditional but excellent. We were finished by 9 and enjoyed a good standard experience at an excellent restaurant. Why are rare steaks such a rarity?

My second time visiting and I had bread, 3 courses and a cocktail within 1hr20. The bread was placed on our table and immediately the starters and not room for all so didnt get to appreicate what we paid for. Felt rushed and no time inbetween which really left me disapointed. Too many other good restaurants in Belfast that dont leave you feeling like this.

This is fine dining at its best, not a cheap night out and definitely not one to take your youngsters until they can appreciate good food. For teenagers, the portions would be too small for a start! The food was all exquisitely presented and cooked to perfection. The service was respectively attentive and what impressed us most was the waiter told us how long to wait until we poured our coffee, which we have never experienced. My only negative comment would be when I asked the waiter which gins were available, he gave a choice of three, however when I walked past the bar, there was a much bigger and better selection if you are into your gins. Also, I would expect a restaurant of this calibre to stock Fever Tree tonic but now I am getting pernickety!! Definitely a "must do" if in the area.

We eat out a lot and being a chef of 40 years am critical , SHU is simply superb, booked late but we were looked after amazingly , what else can I say but go and see for yourself. Booking a must.

My husband & I were given a voucher for Shu and unfortunately were a tad disappointed with one or two aspects of our visit. Initially we were shown to a little table at the back of the restaurant next to a wall. I asked to be moved to a different table and the waitress was keen to oblige. I noticed towards the end of our starter that one of the waiters hovered around behind us as if he was willing us to hurry up and finish. The food was very good but on the pricey side (had we been paying the entire bill) The restaurant was noisy and the tables much too close together. The couple next to us were having a right old argument, which we would have preferred not to hear. Overall, not a great experience, and wouldn't rush back.

We went to Shu on a Saturday evening and it was very busy with full tables close together. The head waitress was excellent, giving good recommendations and helpful advice. Thereafter the service was slow and disinterested, but the dishes that arrived were all delicious, well presented and unusual. Not a favourite for us but still a very good place to go for a top-class meal.

Food was excellent quality if small portions for my student son. We each chose 2 course option (starter and Main) when prepared to pay for main menu. Choice was excellent. We went on to have dessert as well. I had fish-cake and then pigeon, followed by lemon parfait. All ere excellent. Small point was that my main course was only one not to have potatoe or equivalent which was helpfully pointed out to me or I would have been disappointed if food had arrived without ordering what was a necessary side. I should say that there was a good amount of pigeon but I do prefer a balanced course that should not require a side unless you prefer extra. Choice of wine was good, service was attentive, helpful and friendly. Ambience was very good; most tables occupied at 19:30, good mix of diners and beautiful, early evening sunlight marketed elegant dining-room to very good effect.

Lovely room, interesting menu, great food. But a miserable evening straining to hear my partner over the cacophony of an extremely noisy room filled with large and loud and rude diners. And the restaurant refused to do anything to curb the people who were ruining the evening for everyone else. The room needs to be completely redesigned with attention to acoustics and properly separating diners. Otherwise, stay away unless you are a group that likes to shout and carry on regardless of other people.

The food was absolutely outstanding, great flavours, perfectly cooked and presented very well, and turned out to be perfectly sized portions. The pork belly was cooked to perfection and complimented perfectly with the cider soaked raisins. Our waiter was attentive and helpful in aiding us with our food and wine choices. My only complaint was that we were placed at a table right beside the kitchen and bar, so it was quite hot, noisy and busy, with waiting staff passing to and fro with dishes/ drinks. Despite this, I still raved about my meal and definitely will eat here again.

Service on arrival was OK, but went downhill as the evening went on. Starting with the olives, they arrived with one spoon, how were we meant to eat them! Presentation was good, but food lacked flavour. Staff seemed to be so busy with another party we were ignored. Disappointed, unlikely to return.

From the professional welcome to the final sip of coffee this restaurant has to be highly recommended, the quality of the food and the friendliness and good manners of the staff only enhance the experience, love it every time I am in Belfast, the portions are perfect size and flavour and freshness exude from every mouthful.

Booked dinner at Shu as we were spending a couple of days in Belfast – so glad we did! We had a wonderful dinner!!! The food we absolutely delicious!!!! In fact my starter was the best I’ve ever had – so tasty and beautifully presented!!! Plus the staff were very friendly and efficient! Highly recommend this restaurant - perfect for foodies and those wanting a special meal out.

Very busy for a Monday night, but the staff were still able to give great service, as usual. Food was outstanding, even the fussy eater was happy with all the little swaps and changes he made! Definitely one of the best places to eat in Belfast.

I must say really looking forward to eating here,but as soon as you walk in and see they cannot be bothered to use table cloths and room looking like school dinners you know you are not in for a nice evening. my partner had goats cheese salad but got only salad cheese so small both steaks ok but nothing special ordered vegetables and all you get is stewed broccoli and a slice of turnip no i will not be back..
