   The quality of the food has declined, parts of the tables were not clean and some of the glasses were dirty. Surprising for such a pricy place.

   The food was delicious - truly a cultural fusion. We ordered several starters rather than the entrées, and I’m glad we did. The lamb tacos were outstanding. The shashimi tuna was excellent although the sauce overwhelmed the fish a bit, but the tastes were delicious. Loved the plentiful avocado and cucumber salad. The soft shelled crab had nice flavour but I’d order more tacos -perhaps the mushroom teriyaki ones instead. The lime leaf ice cream is a definite repeat. The server was very helpful but the first dishes came almost immediately as we were sipping our cocktails, the third came out a bit later, then we waited a long time for the crab dish, and then a very long time for the ice cream (I was finishing my large post dinner coffee by then.) The restaurant had a number of guests but was not full and the staff were not rushed. The bill for drinks and starters (four were ample for 2) were surprisingly very reasonably priced. We’d certainly return.

   Not sure whether this was post-pandemic effect…. The place needs a major clean up: from windows to tables and floors. Not sure what you use on your tables but plates and glasses stuck to it. The food was below average. From apps only tacos were good. The sweet and sour chicken was super dry and overcoooked. The crab appetizer had no flavor. The side chopped cabbage was weird. The beef curry from mains was ok’ish. The curry sauce was fine but the meat had no flavor. The snapper was too fishy. I guess Ottawa is not the best spot for seafood. The broth again was no flavor. I must say the service was great. But you must clean up and invest into flavors. Will not be coming back.

    Excellent meal and service. We had a business meeting and we were given a spot where we had a bit of quiet. Also the server was discrete yet attentive as needed. We asked for sharing plates and didn’t have any known allergies. We let the server decide on a variety of food based on moderate hunger levels. Wow, while I don’t know what I ate for certain, it was delicious and well presented. I have been there before and it is a great place.

    My dining experience at Sidedoor was a mixed bag. The restaurant boasts a great room with a beautiful skylight, instantly setting the stage for an enjoyable evening. The ambiance was undeniably impressive, creating a lovely atmosphere for dining. The concept behind the food direction was commendable. Sidedoor seemed to strive for a unique culinary experience, offering a menu that promised innovation and creativity. The selection of dishes was intriguing, showcasing a fusion of flavors and ingredients that piqued my curiosity. However, where Sidedoor fell short was in the execution. While the ideas were there, the delivery of the dishes lacked finesse. Some of the plates arrived a bit sloppy, with haphazard presentation and inconsistent flavors. It felt as though the kitchen was trying to do too much without focusing on the basics of execution. This compromised the overall dining experience. Despite the underwhelming execution, Sidedoor managed to salvage the experience to some extent due to its beautiful space. The captivating skylight and elegant room added a touch of sophistication and charm. The ambiance alone almost made up for the shortcomings in the food. Ultimately, my experience at Sidedoor was average. While the restaurant has a lot of potential with its stunning environment and interesting food direction, it fell short in the execution of the dishes. If they can refine their techniques and pay closer attention to detail, Sidedoor could truly become a remarkable dining destination.

    Poor, inattentive service despite the place being almost empty. Menu is fine, but a little all over the place. Food quality was ok, but nothing special. No one checked on us the whole time, after the food arrived.

    Very very good Asian fusion food, but overpriced like so many restaurants in Ottawa unfortunately. I guess it is the new reality:( . That being said I would go back for the additictive green papaya salad, the Vietnamese crepe with shrimp, the spicy beef tacos and the luscious green Thai curry.

    Absolutely amazing dinner! They have two sashimis that were amazing and super creative. Their tacos were also fabulous and super creative. I really enjoyed my dinner, highly recommend for an elevated dinner.

    We made reservations for our anniversary dinner and we’re disappointed by getting one of the worst tables despite the fact the restaurant was not at all busy and more than half the tables were available. The food was not as good as I had remembered. Fish tacos had way too much cabbage, Thai chicken appetizer tasted greasy and burnt, the braised beef was pretty good. Drinks were great, service was really good. It was ok. Nothing special and will probably return at some point but not for a special occasion and won’t be craving the food to entice me back sooner.

    Always a treat to visit and enjoy their scrumptious meals. Even with my food intolerance I was able to enjoy the lettuce wraps with beef appetizer and braised beef Curry as my main. Really well done and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend.

    Had never been before and went in with no idea what to expect for environment, food, or service, and we had an incredible time! Splitting ~5 starters across 4 people was the perfect amount of food and the price was right. Drinks were delicious, service was on point, and the ambience was beautiful and intimate despite being a really large restaurant. Obviously, could not recommend this place enough and we will be back!

    Food was amazing from presentation to taste. Our server seemed fairly new at her craft as her timing was off and we were told to hurry on a course due to the next course coming out. We found her to be some what disengaged and condescending.

    The service was patient, easy going and quietly very competent. The food was flawless, with the green curry beautifully spiced with a side bowl of lots of jasmine rice. I will go back here again in a heartbeat. Heartily recommend.
