Yet another fantastic meal! We love going here for the steak soup and prime rib! Yum!
Good food, great service. Steak wasn’t cooked to my dad’s liking, was perfectly willing to offer an alternative at no extra cost. Spot on. Will come again like I have for the past 15 years.
Terry, our waiter on Saturday was very attentive, friendly and comical. He gave us as much time as we wanted and asked if we were ready for our meal. Great at serving our wine and giving us advise on the menu. Thanks Terry for even some our your jokes.
The food was outstanding and the service was very good. We really enjoyed our server. The table for two by the fireplace was awesome - it was out of the way and private for our date night out. Our one complaint, the tongs at the salad bar were laying in the different foods and it made those dishes unappealing. But we will be back. Thanks for a great evening out!!!
Smugglers inn is always delicous and worth the drive! I dont live in calgary and have been here several times. It's great for a date night or anniversary dinner. I brought some friends this time and they were very impressed. Service was great and food was superb
We were just there for our 53rd anniversary, the food was good, service and ambience exceptional
As usual, very good salad bar with order of any entree. Good value. But quality of prime rib and back rib have gone down
Great ambience for group conversation, relatively private table seating, not noisy - great food selections and preparation - soups, salad bar, appetizers, main course, dessert, etc. Our table hostess was superb - bright, friendly, attentive, prompt - wish I could remember her name :(
Sunday brunch was ok. Some food was luke warm ie bacon and eggs benny. The salads were lacking they didn’t have anything to put with your lettuce ie bacon bits, croutons, cheese. Cheesecake was awesome. Wishing for more bread selection.
We love coming back year after year. Anniversary, birthdays, and just for fun friend dinners.
Excellent service excellent food excellent excellent establishment
Always worthy of great prime rib. Thank you Smugglers for holding the line and continuing to serve outstanding prime rib. Consistantly the best! This is our only place we come for this.
A perfect evening. Our dining companions were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. Our waiter Marco was outstanding and attentive. My husband's prime rib was a bit rare for his tastes. No problem. We even got a lovely celebratory dessert to share at the end of the meal.
Excellent food and great service with a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Great service but prime rib was mediocre at best. Supper chewy, oju was like packaged gravy.
Absolutely love this place. The prime rib is unreal!
I recommend the tuna, halibut or salmon plates, the salad bar and their Portuguese soup - with a good bottle of wine
Great food, not too loud, great ambience, excellent selection and salad bar, super service
Enjoyed the prime rib and really liked the soup bar
Some of the best prime rib around. Great salad bar too. Been going here for years.
Loved the salad bar! I was not too excited about my prime rib, others in the party had really good filet and ribeye was amazing but one had to send hers back very undercooked. Order your meat more on the well done side they seem to cook on the rare side. The server was very apologetic and they gave my guest a piece of complimentary cheesecake which was appreciated. I've been to Smuggler's many times but not for a few years. It's the old school steak house feel. Our server was polite and attentive.
We ordered 2 stuffed mushroom crab entrees which we sent back as they were extremely dry. One of the prime ribs was ordered medium and came well done. Mostly bone, hardly any meat. Teryaki steak was ordered butterflied and well done. Came not butterflied and was really really tough. They took the appetizers and steak off the bill, but we left hungry. Have been going here for years and don't know if it's new owners or what but it was horrible this time. Won't be back
We love this restaurant... the atmosphere and decor takes you away to another time. We have been going
there since it opened ...1975. That must say something! The food has been consistently excellent since the
beginning and no other restaurant serves up such a delicious prime rib.
A Sunday brunch; we were seated right at noon. The service and the servers were awesome, as was the manager who checked on us frequently; unfortunately the food was not awesome - the meats were dry and overcooked, the seafood flavourless, and the jentacular offerings minimal. Might give it another chance as a late solo option, but not for a family gathering.
Always love going there for brunch. Large selection and child friendly is a huge win in my books.
It was a great experience as always. This is our go-to birthday spot for everyone in our family as it has almost something for everyone. The only down side is that they do not have any of the correct signs on the buffet items and I am allergic to dairy so not much choice for me. And unfortunately even the chef doesn't always know if something has dairy in it or not. However, our waiter went above and beyond to make me a dairy-free hot chocolate, which was heaven! :)
Lovely food and great atmosphere - the salad bar and soup were phenomenal and a great start to be able to start eating straight away. The food was all unreal.
It was my first time for a brunch and I have to say, the food and service were amazing. The only thing that you can improve for people like me who like their sugar in their coffee/tea should have the option to have a sugar jar. Those tiny packets don’t do quiet well with me. Otherwise everything was good.
Been going here for a long time and the restaurant has had some ups and downs. This time was up and we enjoyed it very much. The prime rib portions are good. They now serve veg and potatoes with the main entree instead of for an additional fee. Salad bar has gotten smaller over the years but it's still good and they have kept the soups and bread too.
Service was excellent, but the food was mediocre. The prime rib was cooked perfectly however, I was very disappointed in the sides. I would’ve enjoyed garlic mash or at least more flavour, as the mash was bland and a bit dry. The vegetables were undercooked and not well seasoned or buttered.
Fantastic, as it always is! The prime rib is the best in town. The Portuguese Bean soup is my favorite soup in the world, the recipe is carefully guarded secret.
We had prime rib, beef ribs , steak sandwich and halibut with cheesecake and creme brûlée for dessert.
Everything was very good .
The salad bar has good selection but the greens were looking tired.
Excellent choice of soup and great buns.
As always excellent value for money with very good service .
My wife and I went to Smugglers for our anniversary celebration. The ambiance, salad bar, dinner menu selection, reasonably priced wine and waitress attention all contributed to a wonderful experience. I highly recommend Smugglers as a place to go for a special occasion or just a pleasant evening out.
My only complaint is how crowded the dining room was. Tables and chairs jammed into a tight space. It use to have more room between tables.
We were before snd we like this place for our wedding anniversary
Our server Terrance was fantastic, very professional, knowledgable and overall great person with awesome people skills for service :)
Reservation was accurate and confirmed by phone on the day. Seated immediately. Friendly knowledgeable server, excellent food and old school ambience. First experience for two of our party - they had a wonderful time. Our go-to for a really nice meal. Items ordered were prime rib, beef ribs, and several chicken variations. All were immensely enjoyed.
After first coming to Smuggler's 30 years ago, the food and service are better than ever.
Great variety and delicious food!
I went to Smuggler's Inn for their brunch buffet to catch up with a friend. I made a reservation thinking it would be busy, but the section we were in was practically empty. It was very quiet, which was nice, but I do not suspect that is the norm for them. I suspect they are quite busy during the fall/winter/spring. I believe the buffet included coffee and juice, and it had quite the array of different foods from breakfast, to dinner, to dessert. Highlights for me were the stroganoff, the chef-attended omellette and carving station with ham and brisket, and the dessert buffet. The serving staff was excellent, every person on staff that we encountered was very pleasant. They only reason I rated a 3 for ambience is because it is quite dark. I look forward to returning.
