   Family dinner out while I'm vacation. Dined at Social with the family 7 years previous. Ambience was as lovely as east then, Teens loved the live DJ mixing. Server was fantastic. Food was great. Only 'issue' was bar was running a bit behind so drinks were a bit delayed.

   The Mel was very good and the setting is great. Where there was a problem was service. It took a very long time to get the attention of a server to place an order/get the bill. Saying that I would be interested in seeing what a Monday night in the summer would have been like in terms of service pre pandemic. These days we do not know how much of this is because of a labour shortage. I will go again - I loved the setting and everything else was great

   We had a romantic dinner with friends; however my duck confit was unbeatable - the skin was rubber so I couldn't cut it with a normal knife. After waiting for 20min for a sharp knife, I realized I still couldn't cut the skin. It wasn't crispy but rubbery and everything was cold. Beef tartar was just spicy and had no other flavor. The crostini were too thick and detracted from the delicate flavor of beef tartar and scratched my mouth continuously. I waited 15 min for my glass of wine 🍷, so I had to eat most of my duck without a drink. My friend ordered coffee at the end of the meal, which she returned bc it was ice cold and worst than in a dinner. They brought her another, but still charged her $3.5 for it, which was a bit disappointing from a customer service point of view. At the beginning we had 3 waitresses that came to ask for the order, a bit intrusive to our conversation and fine, but then they completely disappeared for 30min as we needed assistance during the meal. For the price the experience was very disappointing, especially compared with other restaurants in Ottawa. One week before, I had gone for lunch and everything was excellent, but I was the only customer for lunch. Not sure what happened for dinner.

   I loved the terrace! Food was really good and the wines offered by the glass were really nice. Very friendly service. Small issue: the appetizers were served during the time we were away from the table, which should not be the case in my book.

    Cannot recommend this place enough! We went for our anniversary and we were quickly greeted with champagne. Our waitress was wonderful and many people checked on us throughout our dinner. Highly recommend the duck confit, steak, and scallops. Thank you for an amazing dining experience! We’ll be back!

    Our first experience at this Restaurant and loved the food! The staff were very friendly and very accommodating. Special thank you to the maître for looking after us! Was a perfect night spent on my birthday!

    Ordered a warm goat cheese salad (22$) - what came out of the kitchen were a few Boston lettuce leaves (I counted 4), a loose dollop of room temp fresh goat cheese, a couple of pieces of beetroot, a couple of walnuts, and a few orange segments. Not a pretty sight. If at least the cheese would have been spread on a few croutons and then put under the broiler. Shameful to pass this as a lunch entree.

    Our experience was extremely affected by the poor service. The food was very good however it took almost an hour and 30 minutes from when we ordered (4 plates) to receive our food and took our waitress 45 minutes to acknowledge us that there was a delay offering us appetizers on the house. We accepted dessert however from this saw no improvement service wise for the remainder of our visit. Waiting on items such as the bill and black coffee. The washrooms were not well maintained which led us to believe the restaurant was short staffed. Taking this all into consideration there could have been better communication and notice of this. Thankfully we didn’t have plans after dinner that would have been missed for sure. Very disappointing!

    Hit Social after a show at the NAC, seven people at 5:45pm. We sat inside, though the patio was hopping outside. Steak tartare was very good, many of us had the pasta of the day which was very tasty but merely warm, temperature-wise. Good comments on the lamb and the cod. Cheesecake was a hit for dessert, the chocolate grenache was a bit on the small side, though was a rich dish. Overall, we had a fine experience, our waitress was very friendly and we would definitely consider Social again.

    We really enjoyed our time at Social, the steak frites was better than I expected and the fish dishes our party enjoyed looked great as well. Friendly service was professional and didn’t rush us. All in all, a very nice evening.

    Social has a lovely dining room and it’s ideally located if you have tickets to an event at the NAC as we did. This was not my first visit. The food was tasty but service was incredibly slow. No explanation was provided and ai think I spent the majority of my meal just wondering where our server was. It was almost impossible to request another beverage or ask any questions. No one offered to refill my soft drink. After waiting forever for our meal to arrive it was an even longer wait for our bill once we could finally ask for it. It could be a result of staffing shortages but there also seemed to be severs just wandering aimlessly. Probably my most disappointing visit yet and will impact on my decision as to whether to return.

    We had drinks, appetizers and dinner mains. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend the duck. Our server was attentive and friendly. The courtyard patio was lovely and all in all as a fine dining experience the price was totally reasonable and worth it for a special night out.

    Loved everything from the wine ( Zinfandel) to our appy( scallops and pork belly) to our main meal ( cod and duck). Our server was very informative and friendly and attentive. The ambience was perfect for the evening

    Although the menu lists many gluten-free items, the kitchen does not use a dedicated fryer and the server was confused about which menu items were actually gluten-free and which were not (e.g. suggesting a meal that contained couscous was GF). Unfortunately, due to a severe gluten allergy in our party, we were forced to leave without ordering any food due to low confidence that the meals would be safe.

    So this one of my favorite spots ! The ambiance and vibe is amazing and it is reasonably priced for the downtown core. This was a brunch visit and it was very lovely — but I do prefer a fancy date night at this spot!!

    Service / Waitress was awesome, great variety of apps and meals for a fine dining French based restaurant. Lots of room at tables, business dinner gave everyone a chance not bump elbows every minute.

    The outside patio is charming and even when it rains a bit, most of the tables are covered with big umbrellas. A very nice place to enjoy a leisurely summer meal.

    The food was mediocre at best . The lunch box was a greasy rice of a lower quality than fast food . Unacceptable for a restaurant like Social that I have used often in the past . This was most unusual !

    Exceptional service. Haven’t been in a few years and the food was even better than I remembered! One of our party uses a wheelchair, and the staff made sure we were seated at a table where they had plenty of room to maneuver. Will definitely be back again soon.

    We received a warm professional welcome; the hostess even allowed us to choose our table. Courteous attentive and described drink menu. We decided to order many of the appetizers and one main to try a variety of flavours. They did not disappoint. Would recommend the scallops and the cod; mouthwatering flavour and exceptional attention to detail.

    The order was not punched in properly and one of our plates never made it to the table. It would have taken too long to make the original order so we had to settle for something else. Staff and management did address it well, but still disappointing and will most likely not recommend this restaurant.

    This was definitely one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The only reason it wasn't outstanding all around, the noise was one factor. It's a very noisy restaurant. Unfortunately, we were unable to sit outside because of potential rain. The other was the service. Although very pleasant, I kind of expect that when paying these kind of prices, the service should just be exceptional... I'm not sure if it's the new thing or if it's the new generation, but having to pour your own wine or push our plates to the edge of the table to have them picked up or wait to get our invoice... it just always surprises me... and then wanting a 20% or 30% tip... really?
