Highly recommend Cosmopolitan and fish. Personable service.
Great service. Place is very loud. Table next to us really talked loud, which made our conversation difficult.
Amazing food! Great staff!
Pleasant Italian tatorria style (sp) restaurant several blocks from legendary Jazz Club, Jazz Showcase. The menu is extensive enough for regular visits, the 'vibe' is upbeat & pleasant. The more I visit, the more I like the restaurant.
A quality operation, noted for attention to detail & very personable service.
Nice Small Italian Restaurant located on Dearborn in Printers Row area. The service was excellent. (fast and friendly) Food was very good. My Wife had the risotto which was very tasty but undercooked and not hot, so it was sent back. When it returned she felt it was the best risotto she had ever tasted. I had the Linguini with Prawns. which was also very good. The prices were very reasonable.
Consistently excellent Italian cuisine with exemplary service and hospitality.
Excellent food. Pasta made fresh and done well. Great service and atmosphere. Just awesome overall
Small restaurant with tables rather close, making noise level very high. Food was exceptional! Many servers so didn’t feel as though we had the attention of one person. Drink prices were expensive as we weren’t asked what liquor we desired. Otherwise, lovely evening.
Enjoyed the wine list! and the food was freshly sourced and very good. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a fantastic meal that is reasonably priced.
Food, ambience and service were fantastic. Our waiter Massimo was the best. Will definitely come back!
A must meal at least once every couple of weeks.
It takes me back to Milano every time.
Food was good not great. Risotto was not authentic. Quality risotto takes time. Artichoke appetizer was jar or canned artichoke. Service was great and room was very comfortable.
If there were more stars to give...I would. By far the best Authentic Italian food I have ever had in Chicago...service was impeccable
Always fabulous food; great dinner location for auditorium theater or jazz showcase
Sofi had incredible food and fantastic service to go with it. Have already decided to visit again to try more of the menu!
Was a most fabulous dining experience!
Always great food and good service hear. And homemade pasta!
A neighborhood gem which excels in authentic Italian cuisine and philoxenia. All menu choices focus on fresh ingredients, flavors, and presentation. Each diner is treated as a special guest.
They recently added larger tables to the intimate dining space. Polite table conversation is challenging, if you are seated near a large party of 6-8 people. They now offer a pre-fix pre-theatre menu.
waiter was a jerk, one cocktail was weak, beer was poured half full. the portions were small. i sent my dish back cold.
waited 25 minutes to get checked out
will never go back
Love this place, and the new pre-show menu is a nice idea!
Delicious food. Made it just the way I asked for it. Great service. Would definitely recommend.
This is a lovely little bistro with a true European feel. Tables are close together and walking space is tight, but the overall ambiance is absolutely charming. The food is always excellent and there is a very large variety of upscale Italian offerings.
Small, cozy atmosphere. Staff was excellent. Server recommended the pork chop entry, but it wasn't as good as I expected. Meat wasn't tender. Wish I had ordered something else. My date's short ribs were very tasty. Grilled vegetable appetizer was great. I would like to return and try one of the pasta or seafood dishes. The print on the menu is small and with a low-light atmosphere, it was somewhat difficult to read even with my reading glasses on. Lots of choices, though, and it was difficult to decide. Close to the Auditorium Theater so it was perfect for our pre-ballet dinner.
It was a birthday celebration for a friend. The staff was very friendly and polite. The food was excellent. We had 7:15 reservations but had to wait and wasn’t seated until almost 7:30 which was okay but unexpected. We started with drinks and our table ordered a very nice bottle of red wine and then a second bottle, reasonably priced, the first one at $60 and the second one at $70. I ordered Prosecco, I had four glasses in total. When I ordered my second glass, I was given a glass of Moscato, which is very different in taste from Prosecco. I had to walk up to the bar because I was unable to get the afternoon or our waiter or anyone else for that matter. The bill was $488 for a party of six which was a reasonable amount and gratuity was included but you would have thought that one of my glasses of Prosecco would have been comped for the mistake made in serving me Moscato. The food as I said was delicious but the service was slow.
The pasta dish with lamb sausage with lamb sausage is amazing.
One of my favorite "nicer" restaurants. I love everything- the food is fantastic, the wine is great, service is wonderful and the ambiance is cozy and comfortable. It's my go-to when attending performances at the Auditorium Theater. Worth the few extra dollars for the whole experience! Thank you!!
Our first visit to Sofi was fabulous! It is a cozy attractive place in Printer’s Row and we chose it because of the proximity to the Auditorium Theater. My husband and I had very nice wine, roasted vegetables with balsamic dressing as an appetizer, housemade pasta entrees, and cannoli for dessert! The service was very attentive but not intrusive. We can’t wait to return!
Menu looked great- location was on a cute street. Beef carpaccio was the best item we ordered. Unfortunately from the glass of wine that tasted like vinegar- to the coke that tasted of carbonated water our experience was just not good. The scallops while large and cleaned well were undercooked as evidenced by the pancetta being barely cooked and not browned and my friend’s rigatoni was more than al dente- bordering on al crunchy. We didn’t bother with dessert. Disappointing
Cozy vibe. Perfect veal. Extensive menu
We completely enjoyed our meal at Sofi. The food wait staff were delicious and authentic, the prices reasonable, and the ambience was warm.
Amazing service. Can't say enough about how great the stafff was. Really good food.
Tried Sofi for the first time during restaurant week. We went back with a friend a week later because we enjoyed it so much. The second visit to Sofi turned out to be very different than our first. The tables were set up too close together, and we waited for our food while watching others who were seated after us got served promptly. The food was very good, but the experience was a bit off-putting. Will have to think hard about whether we will give Sofi another try in the future.
Loved Sofi! Traditional Italian food in a small, homey dining room. Food was fantastic- felt like i was back in Italy! Will be back for more pasta.
We like to dine at Sofi when we go to the Auditorium Theatre. Roberto was an excellent server, the food was delicious including the wine. Best of all we had a leisurely meal, and left in time for the start of the ballet.
Sofia is a lovely little Italian gem in printer's row. Authentic (and delicious) foods, a courteous and friendly staff, and calming atmosphere make this an ideal date spot or just a quiet dinner for yourself.
We went here for restaurant week. It was very nice, great food, and our waiter was awesome (sorry I do not remember his name). We plan to go back very soon.
A great neighborhood restaurant that’s kept up its high standards of food and service for years. We go there regularly at least once a month.
Nice list of choices for Restaurant week.
Good service, pleasant staff.
Needed to turn the music off.
We need more neighborhood restaurants like this.
We came to Sofi after a concert at Jazz Showcase--it's a short walk and a great choice for authentic Italian food in a nice setting. There is a welcoming bar, which has many Italian favorites.
They were out of a couple of specials that I would have really liked to order--so we'll need to return to see if we can catch them on another visit.
We shared an appetizer, then had the fish stew and mussels. Same broth for both, but it was really good--the right level of spice and nice deep flavor from the generous shellfish and fish portions. I'm appreciative that the fish stock and herbs were not overpowered by garlic.
Splurged on the ricotta cheesecake--worth the calories.
Our waiter was very good--and since he was Italian, we deferred to him for wine selection--and I'm glad we did so--we ended up with a very nice wine.
This place is a neighborhood gem, but take advantage of it's proximity to Jazz Showcase and treat yourself to a very good Italian meal. Highly recommend.
