Solé Restaurant and Wine Bar is situated in a 150 year old Seagram’s building, minutes west of the Waterloo Uptown Core. The interior soars two stories high to a timber frame ceiling, exposed brick and generous wood finishes, set the tone for an elegant yet casual experience.

The menu will transport your palate to a bistro somewhere in Europe. Items ranging from fresh-baked pizzas, pastas, vegetarian entrées, steaks, and seafood will satisfy any appetite.     This was a disappointment after anticipating a visit to Sole for some time. Food was excellent and the venue very lovely. The service sadly was disinterested and lackluster. The waiter who started with us appeared to be also managing the bar on the other side of the restaurant. After the first encounter, we had the odd person check in as they went past or if we asked for something. If the bartender/waiter had passed us to another waitstaff we were not made aware. We have been to all other restaurants in the Charcoal group and sadly, this beautiful restaurant did not measure up.

    Our first experience sitting in the bar area and it was great. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, the bar area was like a little shelter from the hustle and bustle. I will be very tempted to reserve in the bar area again. I didn’t lead with comments on the food because I have never had a meal at Solé that wasn’t delicious and that applies to last evening as well. The service was also excellent as usual and Phillip made us feel like we had a personal server.

    For our son's graduation from University. This is the only restaurant we know for such a special occasion in Waterloo, and it did not disappoint (again)! Service was excellent. We wanted to sit outside, but the evening air was cooling, .... so they brought us blankets (to supplement heaters). The food was excellent, wine choice support provided, and all in all, a wonderful evening.

    Took my wife there for our Anniversary Dinner last night - and it was the perfect experience! The service was quick and friendly, the food was excellent, and the patio was beautiful and in full bloom - I cant imagine a better place to celebrate. Thanks to Sage for the great service, and to the Kitchen staff for the special anniversary note with our Crème Brule!

    First I'll say, we always love our food when at Sole! Delicious! Also, our server was very friendly and welcoming. However, I was a server w/ Charcoal for over 8 years (& at 3 different restaurants) and we always made our guests feel special when celebrating an occasion. It was noted to our server we were celebrating a birthday, and a recent engagement was acknowledged as well, however nothing (even small) was done to celebrate. I don't think someone should ever expect free things, though it also didn't help that the birthday boy's main entree came out half way through the rest of the rest of everyone's meals. I'm just curious, why ask online if you're celebrating something, or have the server ask when seated if to go ignored? I think part of the reason I loved being a server with Charcoal Group specifically for so many years was that we DID make our guests feel special, so obviously I was a bit surprised my fiancé/b-day boy wasn't acknowledged in some way when I made that known. This could be a Sole thing (as I read other reviews, I see a similar theme) but then I think it's important to remember what sets Charcoal service/restaurants apart from many others.
