Spencer's at the Waterfront
Food and service great. Bar had run out of Dillons Gin. Menu presentation slightly confusing. Waiter got us through it.
Food cannot be compared to previous occasion. Mussels are not fresh. Some ribs are overcooked. At that price food should be much better. Disappointed.
Patio over looking lake is spectacular. Noise level inside was considerably higher. Outside seating IS weather dependant. While some seats are in a covered area, it can be really hot. Our evening was perfect, weather was moderated by lake and noise level was more than acceptable. Seafood specials were very good. Service was adequate. Parking can be a challenge especially if Spenser's is hosting a wedding. While they have a portion of the parking lot (on west side of restaurant) blocked off, we got the last paring spot.
Oeverall a very pleasant dinner on a beautiful, summer night.
It was the perfect restaurant for my hubby and I that we were searching for from a long time .. the view .. the menu .. the service all was great 🤩♥️
Tous étaient parfait.. mon mari et moi avons bien amusés .. à bientôt 😘
Upon arrival, they allowed us to pick where we wanted to sit, which was pretty cool considering not a lot of restaurants do that. We decided on the outdoor patio which had a very nice view of the waterfront and pond. Our waitress Anne C, was blah, she rarely smiled . She didn’t make conversation. She asked us what we wanted to order and got our food and that was it. Besides Our waitress blahness, the food was very good! I just wish our waitress would have engaged with us a bit more. I get more engagement from pubs and pay less than what I got from Spencer’s. Upon leaving we passed a group of staff near the bar and they were chit chatting away. None of them stopped to say, have a nice day or thank you, they just kept chatting. I gave them 3 stars. Mostly based on the amazing food, and location.
All good although the menu hadn’t too much choice. What we went with was great however
Excellent kitchen. Courteous very friendly and professional service. We live in Aurora so we would not normally make the 1 and 1/2 hour drive but when in the are would definitely go back.
Awesome summer night dinner on the patio. Enjoyed the breeze and summer air overlooking the lake and park areas. Great service, food and and ambiance.
It was a lovely afternoon eating and enjoying the view.
Although the food was good, the wait time was unacceptable especially for a Thursday evening
Food was delicious, very comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Nice setting on the lake. Menu seems better than before. Great Caesar salad now. Fresh fish esp bronzino is a must.
be careful with alcohol prices. ask for cost before ordering. prices for booze is high.
A screaming infant, and food that was not hot. Not their best showing at all. Wait staff was the bright spot of the evening.
We went to brunch to celebrate my sisters upcoming wedding. Spencer’s was the perfect choice. It was an incredible experience!!! I would highly recommend this place. Beautiful and upscale and the food was yummy!!!
The restaurant was lovely. Beautiful view of the lake. You are def paying for the view not the food as I have had better buffets. The soup was cold and the perogies were rock hard.
Enjoy the drink and the view.
Love this place every time we go! Great food, service. The Sunday Bruch is fantastic.
Beautiful restaurant overlooking the lake. Brunch is fabulous with tons of selection, all high end. Grab a seat on the patio if the weather is nice, great views and breeze off the lake
Since the renos the Sunday brunch food quality and service have suffered. There are no hot stations by the kitchen, it is Very crowded as the food is not spread out through the kitchen, seafood was mediocre, eggs benny were terrible, the only saving grace was the desert, our server was not attentive never asked if we wanted a drink unless we did (not sure if they didn't want provide us mimosas as it was included in the price, felt like they were told only give each person 2 drinks) when we order a drink she would forget needing to remind her, she never asked if we were okay etc just came and removed plates from the table. I would not gonna back to Spencer's again for brunch and would not recommend to others so sad the quality has decreased so dramatically
Great and consistent experience as always
Great service and a nice atmosphere. The food was ok, not bad, not great just OK. so probably a little pricey for just OK.
I would go back and hopefully the food might be better next time.
The place has totally changed since our last visit. It was noisy and way more casual that I had planned for our dinner. The menu is radically different and while the food was excellently prepared - it was plain old steak and seafood. I know you pay a premium for the location - but with the changes to the menu and the remodeling, it's just a waterfront bar. We won't be back.
Having been to Spencer's many times before, I was looking forward to a similar event last week. My expectations were dashed after the meal when my date and I went for drinks at the bar. The bar staff wasn't busy so I was surprised that we were seated for a good half-hour before someone approached us and asked if we had been served.
My date actually approached the bar and asked if anyone was serving the tables and if so, would they mind taking our order for drinks. By this point, I was ready to walk, but because this was the first date, I didn't want to cause a scene.
We had our drinks and left soon afterward. At this point, I am reconsidering my opinion of Spencer's.
45 minute wait for our first drink order, one of the cocktails was horrible and sent back, apps finally arrived 1/2 hr later, spoke to manager and he just shrugged that they were busy, not, the restaurant was not full! Small portions for the price but terrific food - too bad as it was a celebration and wished we’d left before the mains. Our server was terrific, I think embarrassed and tried to keep us calm. Was our favourite place - too many great restaurants in the Hammer!
Waiter was good, came the right amount of times to where he wasn't annoying and got us all we needed. Food came pretty quickly for what we ordered.
The server recommended a wine that was $29 a glass
Seems like a way to increase your tip
Lacklustre presentation for the price
Obviously paying for the view
Spencer's has been our preferred restaurant since it opened so long ago. It remains perfect in every way
Everything was great except we found the service to be slow.
The ingredients are all there for an amazing dining experience but the execution was lacking. Holiday Monday might have been a factor. Would try again, but...they might be leaning a bit too hard on the great view.
Side note: simple foods (Caesar and coleslaw salads) were unusually peppery.
Chris, our waiter, was great! Exceptional service! Thank you.
lovely restaurant and view - but food was ok, not bad but not great. Prices were ok.
The service was awful! The excuse from the Manager was we are short staffed it's Canada Day weekend...REALLY
It took us 20 minutes to get a drink, tables were not cleaned, no water served. We ordered burgers and told the waiter no bacon it came with bacon and raw onions that were not listed on the menu. I have an allergy to onions so they had to take them back, which took 30 minutes to make two more burger. When the burgers did finally arrive they were good. Our martinis were also good and the bottle of Red wine. They did remove the martinis & burgers from our bill. I had visitors from out of town and they couldn't believe the service.
we were there Canada long weekend. Great place for brunch!
Not a hugh selections of food but the food quality is excellent. They have fresh west and east coast oysters.
Restaurant offers beautiful lake view!
Our server is good! Staff is acknowledgeable and friendly.
A confusing dining experience. Based on the website and the online menu I was expecting an evening that was closer to a fine dining experience - what I experienced was something between noisy Toronto patio and roadhouse. The menu was compact, and had a little bit of everything on it. Our meals were competently prepared, tasty, but certainly not dramatic or adventurous. The dining room was very busy, noisy, and was attended buy a wide range of patrons. Some guests dressed in tank tops, flip flops, and ball caps, other guests dressed for an on-site wedding reception. The wedding guests continually moving through the dining room to use the washrooms. The service was good, and had a casual attitude. A three-course meal with drinks for a party of two was about $200. In short I feel as though Spencer's is trying to be all things to all people, resulting in a dining experience that was erratic and unfocused. This will likely be my last time visiting this restaurant - not because I didn't enjoy any single component of the evening, but because I expect a fine dining experience when paying fine dining prices.
First time at Spencer's - table of 4 enjoyed all of our menu selections. Service from every staff member was timely and knowledgeable and very pleasant. We definitely look forward to enjoying Spencer's again very soon.
We continue to frequent this restaurant and always enjoy the experience . Great food and service are the key!
Beautiful surroundings and delicious food.
Our server (cant remember her name right now) was the reason this experience was great! The food was good, but not as amazing as I expected, HOWEVER, again our server was so amazing and polite and attentive that she makes it worth trying again!
The food took long to get to the table but I believe it's because our group arrived later than the reservation and there were several groups going on. Presentation was lovely!
Service was extremely slow. Caesar Salad was tasteless.
