Fergus Henderson’s original home of “Nose to Tail Eating” opened in a former smokehouse around the corner from Smithfield Market in 1994.

Celebrating the finest of indigenous British produce and making the most of what is seasonally best whilst applying straight forward cooking techniques, St. John is now celebrated as one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World and in 2009 was awarded its first Michelin Star.

Nose to tail eating means that, where appropriate, every part of the animal should be put to good use in the kitchen and so along with Roast Beef and Lemon Sole, diners will find Rolled Pig’s Spleen, Kidneys and Ox Heart, Liver and Chitterlings as well as the Roast Bone Marrow & Parsley Salad, something of a ‘signature’ dish.

Absolutely love this place. The quality of the ingredients, the simple presentation and colours. Every bite is lovely moment to Savor. The wine selection, the clever cocktails, the lack of any annoying decorations or music all adds to the experience. Excellent service and dishes and chef should be proud to create. Must stop when in London!

This is a famous restaurant, historically. But there’s much better food to be had in London. One main we had was turbot, which had about 4 bites after removing the bone. Our other main was braised lamb which was about 50% fat. The wine list is all French and quirky. Few good choices by the glass. Our service was not good. Our wine order was not taken until our first courses arrived.

From the food to the service, everything was outstanding. We went for a late lunch reservation on a Monday and it was honestly the perfect time to dine. Much love and respect to Chef John and the team. The food was incredible, especially the mads for dessert.

Nose to tail cooking must be discovered, taught and celebrated. And none do it better than the people who pioneered it decades ago. Outstanding dishes in a pristine yet casual environment. An absolute must try in London. Great value as well.

To maximize our mid-day menu sampling, we worked our way through most of the Starter menu. It was brilliant! The staff was warm, welcoming & quite helpful in pairing a novel wine with the day's offerings. BTW, Fergus is right, his Negroni IS better! I suggest that you not miss an opportunity to dine here.

For a restaurant that is suppose to be known for their wine list/knowledge, it’s disappointing to feel like the sommelier wasn’t one at all. Nobody seemed to know much about the menu. The space felt sterile and like sitting at a bad wedding reception hall. The food was good but quite forgettable.
