While we were eating our dinner a mouse was running around under the tables. When the bartender was told he just replied oh that’s just our resident mouse Hugo!?!? And to top it off, our server told us how to tip..... not impressed! Sad as the food was amazing
Great service! Amazing food !
Great place with great ambience and a view overlooking the harbour -- hard to beat. We took our hard-of-hearing dad, and staff kindly set us up outside where it was quiet, under some warm lamps on a cool night, and it was terrific.
Beautiful restaurant with a great view. The food quality was ok but not anything special.
Very slow service when there were only 1/2 dozen tables during dinner. The restaurant was out 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered. Didn't feel we were valued as customers. We were locals so perhaps they prefer tourists $$$ than us supporting local businesses.
We had fish and chips, the James Bay burger and a steak. Everyone was happy with their food. I think I might have rated the noise level improperly. It was a cold blustery Sunday evening in Feb and we were the only 4 in the restaurant. Therefore, the noise level was nil and I don't know how it would be when it's full. Our server was easy going, very helpful and non intrusive. Would love to come back when the patio is open!
Staff were very nice, attentive, and helpful. Of the 4 meals 2 were perfect and two were not. The two sirloin did not meet expectations. Bill was adjusted for the undercooked one. We will definitely return to allow them to improve.
Services was great but they seemed short staffed. Food was good. Was probably the worst gin and tonic I have ever had. Great location and ambiance.
Nice menu, good food, courteous staff, in a great location. I'd eat there again.
We were a group of friends on Valentines Day. I made a reservation but the restaurant was quite busy when we arrived. We waiting 10 minutes for our table. Once we were seated it took about another 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. The food seemed to take a bit of time as well, and was only mediocre. Out of most desserts.
Hopefully just an off night because I’ve had much better experiences here!
Great food! Timing was a little off on the courses but no big deal.
Multiple servers confused things a bit but it’s understandable for a very busy day. They were all very lovely.
Mediocre food, loud (bad) music, cold building and a waitress that would not leave us alone. Only one other table in the place, so I guess the server was bored. Came back at least 3 times to interrupt our conversation with "how's everything tasting?"..."everything ok ?"...bill came as soon as my fork was put down, followed by the debit machine 15 seconds later (no time to check the bill). Felt quite rushed, (5pm and a dead restaurant.). Guess we'll just leave this one for the tourists, and enjoy a slower paced meal elsewhere.
food really good - visitors were impressed - beet salad w/shrimp, avocado toast, blackened salmon, beef burger.
speakers were awful, raspy, loud, terrible.
bench seats could have been more comfy
the stay in town and dine around menu, was amazing. would recommend this restaurant
It was a very good dining experience, however our food did take a while to be served and the steak was unevenly cooked - medium at one end and quite rare at the other. But it was a good cut of steak.
Great place. Had amazing lobster ravioli and the steak and prawns, the crab bisque was great and the dessert was a pudding tofffee but it was great as well. The service was amazing. The decor was a little “train station” but i could care less cause the food was unreal.
We enjoyed our meal and we took advantage of the special dine around town. I will definitely go back again!
Food is Fantastic, Service and atmosphere the Best!!!!
We had high hopes for this restaurant but left knowing we won't be back. The hostess was definitely not warm, friendly or welcoming. A smile could have gone a long way and it was not a busy night. The light was too bright for most of the night. The food was okay. We were mystified by the sticky toffee pudding that we had for dessert. It looked like a spongy cake with sauce and ice cream and tasted bland. Definitely not the usual sticky toffee pudding. Our server but effort into the service towards the end of our time there. After we paid we stayed and talked for another hour, with no offer of any water or even to ask if we needed anything.
Slow service, neglected to bring my drink I ordered, pricey for overall lack of quality and inattentive staff.
Amazing tasty food. We were wanting seafood and were absolitely satisfied. The dine around menu was perfect for us.
I just wanted to comment on my experience, and 3 other guests on Tuesday January 28th .
Our waiter, was inexperienced,.. he did not know what wine they were serving for Happy hour,.. he misinformed us , then finally came back with the right name.
We ordered from the Dine Around menu.
We waited 10 minutes to get soup spoons for the bisque, ( after asking for some) .. finally the maître d’ brought us some,.. , 3 of us ordered the ling cod,… it came covered with arugula , nowhere was there any asparagus or roasted tomatoes.
We were not advised of the change.
“Brown Butter Seared Ling Cod truffle scented wild mushroom risotto, roasted tomato butter sauce, grilled asparagus, oven dried tomatoes”
We asked for decaf coffee, and were told that it was unavailable , ( that was at 6 pm! ) but we could get some diluted decaf espresso from Starbucks next door,… which was filled to the very top, thus not allowing for cream.
All in all, the experience was negative,.. sloppy,.. but the food was good.
The previous week, my husband and I had dinned there,.. my husband was served the sirloin steak, which was super chewy, his jaw hurt even the next day.
I would certainly NOT recommend this restaurant. Perhaps in summer the location might make up somewhat for its inadequacies.
Very disappointed all around,..
The entire dine around town menu was excellent with the exception of the Sirloin steak option. Three people out of six at our table ordered the steak and it was served very under cooked for medium and ended up being quite tough. Other than that all the other course options were excellent.
It was good but the thing offered as Sticky Toffee Pudding was nothing like Sticky Toffee Pudding. Everything else was delicious, though.
Jake was a great server! Very friendly & helpful. Our first Dine Around experience at Steamship Grill with out of town guests. Great menu. They were pleased. We were pleased.
We went there during the Dine Around Victoria promotion and we were very pleased with the quality of food, the value (of course), the ambiance but, the one thing that stood out was the service. Our waiter checked in at times without being intrusive and made sure our courses and drinks came on time. We will definitely be back.
Went to dine around victoria the food here was great we sat out side and noise level was good had a great and caring waitress thank u for a good experience
This is the second time I’ve been since it’s opened, the food was super salty and I like salt. The server never asked how the food was even tho I didn’t eat much off my plate. I went for my bday with my husband and we were out in a really loud corner or the restaurant. I can honestly say I would never go here again. Disappointed all around... I would not recommend unfortunately
Delicious! Great selection on the menu.
The whiskey crab bisque is amazing!
4Th year in a row for New Years Eve and have not had a bad meal or bad service. we will be back next new Years if not before.
Food presentation was bland food was a bit cold.
No knives with our steaks.
Waitress was cool.
Great food. I wish I was there during the daylight since it looks like it would have an amazing view. Seats are kind of uncomfortable if you are staying for a long dinner.
A very cool location for a restaurant and the menu had something for everyone. Our server was amazing, very friendly and efficient.
That was my first experience eating at your establishment and we both LOVED it. The lady that served us was so attentive and nice to speak with. I would highly recommend Steamship to anyone and will make sure I tell my friends how wonderful the whole experience was.
Keep up the good work as some restaurants are good one time and not the next so please keep up the great work!
We were having a quick bite before a movie on Friday night. The service was fine. The food on the other hand, not so fine. $16.95 for 2 overcooked jumbo prawns. That’s right, 2!
This to me screams arrogance. Also these 2 prawns were covered in sauce and still in the shell, so messy and awkward to eat!! This is our second and last visit. It was a rip off..
The ceaser salad was wilty and the person who had it was ill the next day
The steaks were.done to perfection however there were not enough vegetables with it
The mussels were delicious!
The staff were very accommodating and obliging, changing our reservations time for us twice when our taxi kept not showing up. The service was friendly, welcoming, and fairly timely. The food was adequate but nothing special which was the consensus of all of the people in my party, all of whom had different dishes. The prices aren’t cheap and I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return given the overall experience.
Was accidentally overcharged but quickly fixed.
Food was awesome. Service was great
Great bartender who was our server. One out of three meals wasn’t great. Overall good experience and recommend to others.
We enjoyed wine and applies as a birthday celebration and, overall, we were very pleased. The disappointment was that wings were not available and the substitute prawn dish was less than interesting. The roasted Brussel sprouts were superb as were the cauliflower “hot wings”. Our server, Josh, was excellent.
